Abt Associates is a global research and project implementation firm working in the health, governance, environment, and economic growth sectors. Abt Associates in Britain seek a Team Leader for an anticipated five-year FCDO funded Health Systems Strengthening programme in Sierra Leone : Delivering improved health outcomes for women and girls, ending preventable deaths (EPD), and health systems.
The Team Leader will be responsible for providing the program’s strategic direction and managing project activity design and successful implementation. You will supervise all key personnel to ensure compliance and responsiveness to client priorities, policies, and procedures.
Responsibilities include:
- Provide overall leadership, management, and technical direction for the program, serving as the primary liaison with FCDO on managerial, strategic, and technical matters, including responsibility for making key decisions and solving programmatic problems promptly
- Ensure that the work plan, MEL plan, and reporting efforts are aligned with award requirements, project objectives, and FCDO guidance
- Monitor and, when needed, adapt activities to achieve results; ensure that activities are implemented effectively and in complementarity to FCDO and other donor activities
- Lead integration of collaboration, learning, adaptation (CLA), knowledge management, and advocacy strategies into the activity.
- Serve as a key liaison with the FCDO, government counterparts, local partners/stakeholders, and as the principal representative of the activity.
- Clarify roles, delegate responsibilities to senior staff, and communicate expectations for work and contribution to project activities.
- Ensure the program meets high standards for performance and integrity that comply with Abt Associates processes, policies, and procedures
- Master’s degree in international development, organisational development, business, communications, or another field relevant to the program’s scope of work
- Minimum eight (8) years of relevant, senior-level professional experience managing and implementing programs designed to support health strengthening
- Strong interpersonal communication skills with demonstrated ability to engage productively with various organisations, beneficiaries, and related parties (government, private sector, NGOs, research and training institutions).
- Demonstrated leadership, versatility, and integrity
- Prior work experience in Sierra Leone is an advantage.
- Professional level of oral and written fluency in the English language
This position will be based in Sierra Leone and is contingent upon award.
