Position: Project Assistant – ECD
Duty Station: Port Loko & Bo
Purpose:
Under the supervision of the ECD Coordinator, s/he will implement ECD activities including; training, play lab activities, field trips, community meetings, refreshers, workshops, mother forums, mentor follow-up, enrolling play leaders.
Key Responsibilities:
- Participate in the development of work plans for field ECD activities and follow their execution to the dot.
- Monitor the implementation of ECD activities in the field in line with the project document.
- To mentor and coach the club leaders for effective implementation of the ECD activities.
- Support community involvement in the management of the ECD centres.
- To ensure that the field ECD centres have an enabling environment to support the objectives of the project through the availability of materials, ensuring the attendance of the play leaders and target beneficiaries.
- Conduct continuous site support and mentoring for play leaders on day-to-day activities.
- Organize, facilitate, and follow upon community leader workshops, community meetings, mother’s forums, curriculum development workshops, and parents meetings.
- Develop and submit monthly, quarterly and annual reports to the supervisor and relevant stakeholders.
- Supervise the mainstreaming of children into primary schools and follow up through tracer studies
- Implementation of BRAC vision, mission, values and policies including an effective safeguarding policy;
- Promote a safeguarding culture at the field level by implementing the safeguarding policy.
- Follow the safeguarding reporting procedure in case any reportable incident takes place and encourage others to do so.
- Provide initial and ongoing technical assistance to teachers and heads to ensure their professional development competency.
- Monitor the implementation of appropriate approach to child development and education.
- Any other duties that may be assigned by the supervisor

- Basic computer skills; MS Word, Excel
- Excellent communication skills ( written and spoken)
- Self-awareness, cultural sensitivity, flexibility and adaptability.

Safeguarding:
- Ensure the safety of team members from any harm, abuse, neglect, harassment and exploitation to achieve the programme’s goals on safeguarding implementation. Act as a key source of support, guidance and expertise on safeguarding for establishing a safe working environment.
- Practice, promote and endorse the issues of safeguarding policy among team members and ensure the implementation of safeguarding standards in every course of action.
- Follow the safeguarding reporting procedure in case any reportable incident takes place, encourage others to do so.
Educational Requirements:
- Diploma Early Childhood Development, Education, or its equivalent.
- Holders of Higher Teachers Certificate may also apply.
Experience Requirements:
- At least 2-3 years of relevant experience working in the Development sector especially Education and Social Empowerment and skilling programmes preferably in an NGO setting
