Job Description
Concern Worldwide is a nongovernmental, international, humanitarian organisation dedicated to the reduction of suffering and working towards the ultimate elimination of extreme poverty in the world’s poorest countries. Concern Worldwide integrated programming approach aims to tackle all dimensions of poverty, focusing on the overlapping areas of health, education and livelihoods while maintaining our response to emergencies. Concern fully integrates equality in all its work, with emphasis on a gender transformative approach. Concern Worldwide has been operational in Sierra Leone since 1996. Programme implementation is based in four areas, namely Tonkolili District, Port Loko District and Western Area Urban and Wester Area Rural.

Job Context: | Concern in partnership with Welthungerhilfe (WHH) is implementing a LANN+ Nutrition Smart Communities – a rights-based approach and integrated programme aiming focusing on the promotion of sustainable food and nutrition security for vulnerable rural households in target communities of Port Loko District. LANN+ Nutrition Smart Communities centers on a participatory nutrition education in rural areas, levering agriculture, natural resource management and women empowerment for improved household nutrition. |
Job Purpose: | The LANN+ WASH officer will implement Nutrition-Sensitive WASH activities at community level: Promotion of improved hygiene and sanitation practices and facilities at household and community level to reduce the prevalence of diarrheal diseases (for an improved utilization of and sustained effect of improved diets) – focusing both on behavior change and improved WASH hardware. S/He will ensure that agreed targets are on track to be met with high quality reporting. |
