Sierra Leone Social Marketing and Development Agency is seeking to recruit top-notch professional to fulfil the position of Project Manager – Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights based at project operational sites (outside Freetown) to deliver the tasks outlined below:

SUMMARY OF THE POSITION

The Project Manager- Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights (SRHR) will be responsible and ultimately accountable for implementing the sexual and reproductive health and rights project with the aim to empower girls and boys to decide on their bodies and lives. Under the overall guidance and direct supervision of the Executive Director, the incumbent provides programmatic support for the promotion of Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights in the project locations.

DIMENSIONS OF ROLE

The project is an EU development project with a strong local partner management component and the main premise of the program:

  1. Support improved SRHR policies, especially CSE, at the national level, work with teachers at the school level for better CSE rollout, and create safe and encouraging SRHR environments, with a particular focus on adolescent girls.
  2.  At the community level social norms change as well as working with making SRHR service providers more adolescent girl friendly.

 

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES 

  • Provide technical support for the promotion of a gender transformative approach to Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights (SRHR) in the project locations and at the national level, contributing to the identification of critical factors, barriers, and actions necessary for the promotion, protection, and respect for girls’ reproductive health Rights in Sierra Leone.
  • Mobilize key SRHR actors/partners and participate in sectoral meetings.
  • Writing quality EU donor reports
  • Responsible for project design, overseeing implementation and monitoring while ensuring quality program delivery of the overall SRHR in the project locations, networking, developing and strengthening strategic partnerships, and mainstreaming child-centered community development.
  • Contribute to knowledge management by recording and documenting results and lessons learned and contributing to regional learning.
  • Support strategies for advocacy and resource mobilization in the SRHR sector.
  • The role is also expected to contribute to the design, planning, and implementation of strategic actions from a gender, sexual and reproductive health rights perspective.

 

Expected Outcomes 

  • Ensure technical soundness, appropriateness, and general quality in project design and planning.
  • Ensure gender equality and the rights of girls.
  • Coordinate the provision of timely responses and guidance in the delivery of SRHR programs
  • Provide leadership in the project planning, implementation, monitoring, and evaluation; assess the (integration) of activities and outputs, outcomes, and impact of program interventions and activities in the program area.
  • Ensure M&E and learning in close collaboration with the M&E team.
  • Ensure quality and timely reporting and documenting of project activities including preparation of quarterly/yearly program progress reports

 

TECHNICAL EXPERTISE, SKILLS, AND KNOWLEDGE 

 

Qualification and Experience: 

Essential

  • University degree or its equivalent (from a recognized institution) in the relevant field of Social Sciences, Economics, Development, Gender, or other similar. Having Masters in the related field is an added advantage.

 

  • Minimum of 6 years of work experience in the SRHR Sector (with knowledge in the prevention, and approaches to wider sexual and reproductive health, and gender-based violence interventions).
  • Extensive knowledge of sexual and reproductive health rights and gender equality and girls’ rights.
  • In-depth knowledge of project cycle management and child-centered community development programming
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, including the ability to build relationships with colleagues.
  • Gender analysis and gender mainstreaming skills
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills, including presentation
  • Ability to coordinate a local partner, within compliance of a high compliance donor (EU), and also coordinate knowledge and learning between the regional and Head Office components of the program.

PHYSICAL ENVIRONMENT 

The role will be required frequent travel to the schools/communities.

Ensures that SLaDA policies for Child Protection (CPP) and Gender Equality and Inclusion (GEI) are fully embedded in accordance with the principles and requirements of the policy including relevant Implementation Standards and Guidelines as applicable to their area of responsibility. This includes, but is not limited to, ensuring staff and associates are aware of and understand their responsibilities under these policies and SLaDA Code of Conduct (CoC), their relevance to their area of work, and that concerns are reported and managed in accordance with the appropriate procedures. Ensure staff understands SLaDA’s commitment to driving a feminist agenda within the organization, and the ambition for gender equality and gender transformative leadership is embedded in our value-based leadership framework.
