FCDO awarded Mott MacDonald to lead the implementation of the Sierra Leone Secondary Education Improvement Programme (SSEIP) 2, which builds on the work of the first phase: Sierra Leone Secondary Education Improvement Programme (SSEIP), also called Leh Wi Lan (Krio for “Let’s Learn”). The programme will support the Ministry of Basic and Senior Secondary Education (MBSSE) to improve learning outcomes for boys and girls at secondary level and to increase the enrolment, retention and well-being of girls and children with disabilities in school.

Example duties and responsibilities | Summary of the Functions:
- Transport personnel and goods to their required destination safely, whilst adhering to traffic regulations, and to Mott Macdonald specific transport and vehicle policies/regulations
- Always maintain absolute compliance with ALL traffic regulations: i.e., speed limits, road signs etc. show consideration for pedestrians, and other users of the road. Maintain vigilance to all potential traffic hazards, and adherence to all Mott Macdonald safety procedures and regulations
- Maintain general cleanliness of the vehicle, engine, body interior and under carriage regularly.
- Responsible for proper day-to-day maintenance and servicing of the assigning vehicle i.e., check oil, water level, check tyres, brakes, fuel level etc. and perform minor repairs. Ensure that the assigned vehicle is road worthy and report any condition/issue to the Logistics Officer.
- Report any maintenance issue observed on the vehicle to the Line Manager.
- Assume responsibility of the security of the vehicle, and all items inside the vehicle, while on duty.
- Ensure cost-savings by proper use of vehicle through accurate maintenance of daily vehicle logs.
- Meet official personnel/Consultants at the airport/ Water taxi jetty and take them to the required accommodation services.
- Make field trips in a professional and safe manner.
- Ensure that the steps required by rules and regulations are taken in case of involvement in accident.
- In the event of an accident, ensure that Mott MacDonald Sierra Leone rules and regulations are duly adhered to. Immediately report the accident to the nearest Mott Macdonald office and follow instruction by that office.
- Deliver Purchase Orders to supplies and collect Office supplies when required
- Check that copies of all relevant vehicle documentation is safely always stored in the vehicle: i.e., registration papers, insurance certificates, daily logbook, and any other necessary documents. Also ensure that the vehicle has an up to date first aid kit.
- Complete any other tasks as instructed by the Line Manager.

Experience/skills |
- Valid driving license
- Demonstrable defensive driving skills (in town and on dirt roads)
- Good communication skills- fluent in English and other SL languages
- Basic routine maintenance and vehicle handling skills
- Willingness to be flexible and prepared to contribute to the company in other duties as required.
Additional requirements
- References – one professional referee and one social referee
- Successful security check
- Previous experience of working within a multi-national team or project environment is highly desirable
- Excellent knowledge of Freetown and major roads in Sierra Leone
- Extensive experience in professional driving
