1.) POSITION/TITLE: Guidance Counsellor
LOCATION: Ngolala Junction, Upper Banta Chiefdom, Moyamba District, Sierra Leone.
IMMEDIATE SUPERVISOR: Social Care Coordinator
KEY RESPONSIBILITY:
The post holder will support the social care coordinator to provide mental health and psycho-social support towards raising emotionally healthy children and improve the performance of both pupils and teachers. Therefore, the Guidance Counsellor must have outstanding assessment and listening skills, empathy, sound decision-making, and organizational and motivational skills. The role requires being a role model committed to biblical values and the ethos of COTN-SL.
SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:
- Conduct individual and group counseling sessions to advise and assist school pupils with academic, ethics, and vocational development.
- Help pupils with special needs develop a plan for their academic career that corresponds with their skills and interests.
- Evaluate school pupilsβ attributes and assist them in realizing their objectives.
- Develop and implement counseling strategies with contemporary methods of mentoring.
- Identify behavioral problems and act appropriately to remedy the situation.
- Pay attention to societal and cultural differences in all student matters.
- Cooperate with parents, teachers, administrators, and partners in the nurture and development of pupils.
- Arrange and schedule orientation programs for both pupils and teachers.
- Implement and facilitate educational and training workshops for school leaders and teachers.
- Facilitate communication between parents, teachers, school administrators, and pupils about behavior and academic problems.
QUALIFICATION/EXPERIENCE:
- Bachelorβs Degree in a behavioral, social science, or education field.
- 2 years of work experience as a counselor, nurse/public health practitioner, or teacher in a formal environment.
- Analytical thinker with strong problem-solving and conflict-resolution skills.
- Motivational leader who displays sound judgment, biblical wisdom, and attention to detail.
- Confident interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
- Remarkable professionalism and solid work ethics.
2.) POSITION/TITLE: J.S.S and S.S.S Teachers
SUBJECT AREAS:
- Mathematics and related modules in the New SSS Curriculum.
- Biology, Chemistry, or Physics.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- HTC Secondary or BSc. Education or BSc. in the subject areas or any related equivalence for SSS.
POSITION/TITLE: Class 3 Teacher
QUALIFICATION:
- TEC, TC, or HTC Primary or equivalence for primary school.
3.) POSITION/TITLE: Estate/Maintenance Officer
LOCATION: Ngolala Junction, Upper Banta Chiefdom, Moyamba District, Sierra Leone.
IMMEDIATE SUPERVISOR: Operations Manager
KEY RESPONSIBILITY:
The Estate/Maintenance Officer will oversee all installation, repair, and upkeep operations of COTN-SL facilities. The role requires a solid understanding of plumbing, electrical systems, carpentry, and other crafts, as well as expertise in health and safety regulations. The Officer must also undertake administrative tasks such as reporting and budgeting.
POSITION DESCRIPTION:
- Execute all construction and maintenance activities, including grounds and gardens, in COTN-SL in accordance with the COTN Standard of Service.
- Be responsible for landscaping of COTN-SL sites.
- Coordinate with the Finance/Admin Manager to prepare annual maintenance plans and budgets.
- Work with building contractors/consultants to ensure new building projects are implemented within the timeframe.
- Conduct building inspections and advise the Country Director on the status of buildings.
- Make maintenance report forms available to staff occupying COTN buildings.
- Develop and implement housing plans according to organizational growth.
- Respond promptly to emergency maintenance needs.
- Ensure excellent repair and maintenance services for all buildings per COTN policies, procedures, and standards.
- Coordinate with Heads of Departments (HODs) to develop building projects as needed.
- Supervise work carried out by external agencies.
- Work with the Campus Development Committee (CDC).
- Prepare and implement an emergency evacuation plan.
- Prepare and implement estate tenancy policies.
- Perform other tasks assigned by the supervisor.
QUALIFICATION/EXPERIENCE:
- High National Diploma in Civil Engineering, Trade Certificate in a building trade, or related industry.
- 3 yearsβ work experience in a similar role.
- Degree from a vocational school or in facility management is an advantage.
