Job summary
The Finance officer will be responsible to provide financial guidance in the day-to-day financial transactions of the finance department.Β He/She ensures that proper financial systems for disbursement and reporting are in place.Β
Main job responsibilities
- Prepare income and payment vouchers for all income and expenditure transactions.
- File all vouchers and other correspondence documents pertaining to the finance office.
- Ensure that all expenses made by staff bear receipts and are attached to the respective vouchers
- Raise journal for other transactions into the books of FoRUT.
- Prepare and maintain a comprehensive inventory of all asserts.
- Manage petty cash and accounts.
- Ensure accurate and auditable financial records in both hard and electronics.
- Reconcile weekly, monthly and yearly transactions.
- Assist in the preparation of budgets and reports.
- Perform other duties that may be assigned by management.
Banking and money handling
- Record and post all bank deposit
- Performs all bank account reconciliations monthly and when needed.
- Communicate with the bank to understand and reconcile any discrepancies
- Prepares requests for cash and ensures all disbursements have appropriate supporting documents.
- Reconciles cash advances for specific activities once completed.
- Monitors, manages, and reconcile petty cash.
Accounts receivable:
- Reviews invoices and ensures they contain the necessary information to facilitate timely payments.
- Follows up on outstanding invoices.
- Identifies funds received, matches them to programmes/projects or activities and ensures they are recorded manually or in the computer system.
- Maintains a comprehensive asset register/inventory to keep track of the organizationβs assets.
Accounts payable:
- Ensures all expenses and requests for disbursements are approved by the appropriate authority.
- Prepares all cheques within specified timelines.
- Ensures all accounts payable are recorded manually or in the computer system.
Payroll and others:
- Prepares payroll on a timely basis, as per the organizationβs policy.
- Performs other duties that may be assigned to you by management
Qualifications
Education:
- A Finance Officer role is well suited to candidates with university qualifications of Bsc degree in accounting, Professional qualification such as CFA/CPA is considered a plus
Experience:
Minimum three years of relevant experience, of which minimum two years of experience skills and personal attributes to the following below:
- Proven work experience as a finance officer or similar role
- Solid knowledge of financial and accounting procedures
- Experience using financial software
- Advanced MS Excel skills
- Knowledge of financial regulations
- Excellent analytical and numerical skills
- Sharp ethics, with an ability to manage confidential data
- Must display full integrity in the handling of the organizational resources

Job summaryΒ
The District Programme Officer (DPO) will serve as principal assistants to the DPM. He/s will support the implementation of all FoRUT programme/projects at the field level. He/s will be part of the program team and should have the desire to implement a multi-disciplined project in line with FoRUTβs program/project priorities for 2024-2028 funding cycle. The DPO will work under the direct supervision of the DPM.
Duties and key responsibilitiesΒ
- Implement project/programme activities at the district level and to support the delivery of all programme/project objectives and outputs.
- Assist the DPM to Develop district annual and operational plans and assist with its implementation.
- Assist the DPM to design and roll-out community sensitization/awareness raising activities on mental health, child rights, gender equality and alcohol and drug issues.
- Collect and maintain data and information on all programme activities.
- Monitor and report on the activities of Boundary partners including Children and Young Peopleβs clubs on mental health, child rights, gender equality and alcohol and drug issues
- work with governmentβs line ministries, department and agencies includingΒ the Family Support Unit of the SLP and the Ministry of Gender and Childrenβs Affairs for the provision of holistic support for survivors rape and other forms of GBV at the community levels
- Coordinate training activities for programme participants as designed on the approved programme implementation plans.
- Produce and submit timely monthly reports
- Other duties that may be assigned from time to time by the DPM.
Minimum requirements
A University degree, preferably in social sciences, social work, social services, community development or related subjects. Minimum of three years of experience in similar positions, preferably in NGOs. Experience with right-based advocacy work and livelihoods/child rights/ womenβs rights issues are required.
Abilities required
- Good interpersonal skills, ability to network and form partnerships with institutions and individuals and establish a relationship of trust with local communities
- Analytical mind and ability to study and understand new environments and systems
- Ability to work under pressure and willingness to spend a considerable portion of the working time in the field.
- Understanding of Results based programme management or Logical Framework Approach)
- Understanding basic concepts in microfinance
- Must display full integrity in the handling of the organizational resources
