BACKGROUND
Welbodi Partnership (WP) is a UK-registered charity focused on reducing maternal and child mortality in Sierra Leone. Since 2008, we have partnered with the Ministry of Health to strengthen health systems, train healthcare workers, improve hospital infrastructure, conduct research, and engage with communities. Our mission is to ensure that all women and children in Sierra Leone have access to effective and dignified healthcare.
Our programmes are bold, future-facing, and innovative and cut across the support to Ola During Children’s and JMB-PCE national paediatrics hospitals, maternal health and research capacity building across Sierra Leone through the implementation of the CRIBS Research Programme, including the nationwide roll-out of the innovative CRADLE blood pressure device.

MAIN PURPOSE OF THE ROLE
The Grants and Fundraising Manager will lead resource mobilization efforts, secure funding from diverse sources, and ensure compliance with donor regulations. The successful candidate will enhance the organization’s visibility through the strategic use of digital platforms and maintain a robust grants portfolio while fostering partnerships to support Welbodi Partnership’s mission.
Reporting to the Country Director, the Grants Compliance and Fundraising Manager will work closely with programs, operations, and finance teams to strengthen fundraising and compliance processes, ensure effective donor engagement, and support the organization’s strategic goals.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Fundraising and Resource Mobilization
∙ Develop and execute a comprehensive fundraising strategy to diversify funding streams, focusing on institutional, corporate, and individual donors.
∙ Lead the writing of compelling funding proposals and grant applications, tailored to donor priorities and aligned with WP’s strategic objectives.
∙ Build strong, sustainable relationships with existing donors and identify new funding opportunities through research and networking.
∙ Create and maintain a database of prospective and current donors, including their funding priorities and application cycles.
∙ Collaborate with communication teams to produce engaging content (e.g., success stories, case studies) for donor reports and marketing materials.

- Grants Management and Compliance
∙ Oversee the lifecycle of grants, from proposal submission to final reporting, ensuring adherence to donor regulations and timelines.
∙ Conduct regular budget variance analysis (BVA) and work with finance teams to monitor grant spending and resolve discrepancies.
∙ Ensure proper documentation and archival of grant agreements, amendments, and donor communications.
∙ Provide training to staff on donor requirements and best practices for grant management.
- Strategic Planning and Performance Monitoring
∙ Contribute to strategic planning processes, particularly donor mapping and resourcing strategies.
∙ Develop performance tracking systems for fundraising and grants management, providing regular updates to senior leadership.
∙ Ensure risk mitigation strategies are in place for grant compliance, maintaining a comprehensive risk register.
- Communication and Stakeholder Engagement
∙ Lead efforts to enhance WP’s visibility by managing social media, website content, and digital fundraising campaigns.
∙ Represent WP at donor meetings, conferences, and other external engagements to advocate for maternal and child health in Sierra Leone.
- Capacity Building and Internal Support
∙ Train program teams on proposal writing, donor engagement, and compliance standards. ∙ Support organisational learning by sharing insights and lessons from fundraising and grant management experiences.
QUALIFICATIONS
Education
∙ Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in fundraising, public health, business administration, or a related field.
∙ Certifications in fundraising or grants management are an advantage.
Experience
∙ At least 3 years in fundraising, resource mobilization, or grants management, ideally in the nonprofit or development sector, with a proven ability to secure funding from institutional donors, foundations, corporate partners, and non-traditional donors.
∙ Demonstrated expertise in managing multi-donor grants, including compliance with diverse donor requirements and navigating intricate financial and contractual processes. ∙ Strong track record in developing high-quality funding proposals and donor reports that secure and sustain multi-year funding
∙ Experience managing consortium and local partner relationships, ensuring effective collaboration and compliance with donor and programmatic goals.

∙ Knowledge of donor registration platforms such as PADOR and NGO sector compliance requirements in Sierra Leone.
∙ Experience leveraging social media and website platforms for organizational visibility and donor engagement, including content development and management.
