Sierra Rutile Limited is recruiting for a Business Analyst.

Sierra Rutile, a wholly owned subsidiary of Iluka Resources, is a leading mineral sands company, operating world-class assets in Sierra Leone. The company produces high quality rutile, ilmenite and zircon from the world’s largest natural rutile deposit.

Sierra Rutile Limited is looking for qualified candidates for the following position.

Overall Duties & Responsibilities:

To provide financial analysis and other related supports to the mining and process operations to ensure the business fulfils its overall objectives and achieves maximum efficiency in costs and profitability.

Qualification and Experience

 Required Qualification: A degree in Accounting/Finance.
 A minimum of five (5) years’ working experience in the field of Accounting/Finance or Audit. (preferably in a mining environment).
 Working knowledge of MS Office Suite.
 Experience in ERP system (Pronto).
Mandatory Knowledge and skills

 Ability to retain confidentiality on all matters.
 Ability to meet reporting deadlines.
 Ability to exercise initiative and be assertive.
 Ability to interact with all SRL employees, subcontractors and client.
Key Responsibilities:

Instrumentation Design
Provide financial education to line department personnel to ensure that they fully understand their actual costs, budgets, variations to budget and cost implications of their actions.
Proactively seek out and pursue cost saving opportunities with the line departments. Continually work with the line managers to uncovering areas for improvement, develop and implement sustainable solutions.
Actively develop a continuous approach to the improvement of internal controls and management reporting systems across all activities.

 Advice as to correct coding to minimise incorrect cost allocations.
 Attend and actively partake in all production, toolbox, safety, and other relevant operations meetings.
 Act as the first active contact person for all financial matters to the operations and other support teams, and serve as an active liaison between finance them.
 Carry out thorough checks on all services contracts transactions (Volvo, CAT, and other) to prevent overbilling.
 Other functions as may be requested by the Senior Business Analyst, FP&A Manager, Finance & Supply, and Business Owners





2. Analysis and Commercial Appraisal
 Performing commercial appraisals/evaluations such as; rent vs buy, mined vs contracting, and alternative options for business decision making, and ensure that MEP applications have the required financial analysis to support the request (NPV, IRR etc.).
 Generate dynamic analysis on key cost drives (equipment utilisation, etc.), which will ensure that rigorous efforts are put where value can be created.
 Conducts regular health and safety talks with subordinates to reinforce EHS and related messages and decisions
 Ensures appropriate PPE and safety equipment is used and worn within the department/section
 Draws on guidance from EHS function to ensure adherence to EHS practices

3. Budgeting, Forecasting and Reporting
 Assist line managers and HODs in preparing quarterly cost forecasts and annual budget.
 Actively participate in the month-end accounting procedures (with particular focus on the accruals process), ensuring that all processes are align with Iluka Group policies, procedures, and deadlines.
 Responsible for bespoke COGNOS reports that meet the specific needs of the business owners and ensure that business owners receive these reports in a timely manner.
 Partake actively in the general finance month-end reporting process by ensuring that within 2- business day of the subsequent month, all costs (equipment, power, etc.) allocations are complete.
 Partake in fuel inventories counts in all areas within your scope and, conduct monthly fuel costs efficiency analysis to identify irregular pattern and report findings to line managers, heads of departments, and the FP&A Manager.
 Prepare a weekly report, which provides insight on ongoing activities in the operations for the FP&A Manager and the Finance & Supply Manager.
 Prepare cost presentation and presents at departmental meetings, discusses trends, agree on corrective actions, and records the reason for discrepancies.
 Present the reasons for all overruns above $1k by the end of the 2-business day after month-end to the FP&A Manager/ Senior Business Analyst for MPPR
