The Aberdeen Women’s Centre (AWC) is a Non-Governmental charitable hospital located in Aberdeen, Freetown providing free surgical services to the women of Sierra Leone for correction of disorders arising from protracted labor; we are also providing free maternity services and an outpatient pediatric clinic for children between birth and fifteen years old.
For its operations, AWC is looking for qualified Sierra Leoneans to fill the following position:

Purpose of the Role
The Programmes Assistant will provide support and input to all Aberdeen Women Centre projects in Sierra Leone.
he Programme Assistant will remain flexible to the needs of the service and also assist in day-to-day management of AWC operations. The Programme Assistant will support, coordinate these programmes and report directly to the Country Director or a designated senior manager.
This is a full time role and the successful candidate is expected to work 5 days (40 hours) a week.
Main Responsibilities and Duties:
Project Management
Provide oversight and coordination for internal projects and develop team community for AWC programs and staff, ensuring that the vision, core values and philosophy are well understood and modelled.
Support the programmes team in management of internal projects and programme activities- namely the patient rehabilitation, education and empowerment programme (PREP), the teenage programme (Dream Girls) and reporting within all departments at AWC.
Serve as a member of the Programs Administrative Team to promote communication and coordination with all partners and stakeholders involved in AWC in order to represent the needs and realities of Sierra Leone for program development, implementation and accountability.
Support management in developing and implementing the fistula program at AWC and coordinate the fistula education and empowerment program.
Manage, implement and coordinate the teenage empowerment programme at AWC.
Fundraising and Communications
Support senior management in the development of proposals, concept notes and reporting documents.
Keep abreast of relevant international and local funding opportunities and lead the development of donor relationships locally in Sierra Leone.
Develop sensitisation projects to commemorate key international dates relating to maternal health, sexual reproductive health, obstetric fistula and global health.
Help spearhead AWC social media drive by posting AWC activities regularly.
Assist in developing media and communications output, including patient stories.
Internal Operations
Be responsible for ensuring effective and efficient stewardship of all resources at the disposal of AWC.
Liaise with all Department Supervisors to support their services and help develop supervisors administratively.
Support programmes team with the input to, and preparation of reporting documentation.
Keep abreast of emerging issues across AWC
Work closely with all clinical teams to improve patient rehabilitation.
Other roles and responsibilities as delegated by the Country Director
Personnel Specifications Required
Essential
Minimum of Bachelor’s Degree in an analytical field (international affairs, health economics, social sciences, life sciences)
At least 1-2 years’ previous experience working for an NGO/Humanitarian work, preferably in maternal and sexual reproductive health.
Desirable
A Demonstrated experience in proposal writing, budget development, project ability to establish goals, structures and processes necessary to implement the organisation’s mission and strategic vision.
Excellent organisational skills
Good interpersonal and mobilisation skills
Demonstrated ability to work independently, be resourceful and lead teams
Experience working in a developing country context and within a multicultural team
Good knowledge of health development, international health partners and health governance systems
Excellent quantitative skills, ability to manipulate and deduce information from numerical data
