1.) House Parent (2)

 

JOB SUMMARY
The role of the House Parent will include working in shifts (sometimes days; sometimes nights), to care for child and adult survivors of human trafficking and Gender-Based Violence in a residential shelter. The House Parent will work with a team of counselors, social workers, cook and cleaner to provide holistic care. House Parents help children get ready for the day, provide care and direction, supervise for safety, and lead and participate in recreational and educational activities. They will do this with a kind, compassionate, confidential, supportive and professional approach.

MAJOR ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
– Providing nurture and care to children and adults who have suffered hardship – To help survivors of abuse recover, by providing a safe and predictable environment – To rotate with other staff to work day or night shifts, providing care and supervision of survivors

– Liaising closely with the Anti-Trafficking and GBV team of World Hope International – Taking notes and records of activities and survivor’s well-being





RECRUITMENT REQUIREMENTS
1. Education

Relevant experience in caring for children and/or vulnerable adults

2. Job related experience and knowledge

Experience working with a protection agency is a plus.

Knowledge of protection issues is required.

Must have a willingness to closely follow and help to train on Child Protection Policy. Ability to read and write is required

3. Time required in job to reach effective performance

Probation period – Three months

2.) Social Worker

 

JOB SUMMARY
The role of the Social Worker will include taking referrals of survivors of human trafficking. They will make appropriate referrals, transporting survivors to shelter-based care, assessing families for safety, attending court sessions, conducting family bonding sessions, reintegrating survivors into safe community, and conducting post-reintegration follow-up visits. The social worker may also train staff and community members on proper safeguarding, as summarized above, as well as to respond to any policy breaches, in coordination with other team members. They will do this with a kind, compassionate, supportive, and professional approach. The Social Worker will develop relationships within specified communities where WHI is working, especially with schools and community leaders. They will offer training for people in communities and make referrals to appropriate support services if they identify anyone facing abuse. They will offer supportive counseling to survivors identified and keep clear case notes on their therapeutic interventions and survivor’s progress. They will liaise with Child Welfare Committees, and WHI-created Village Parent Groups, where applicable, to increase the level of support and protection within the community. They will also represent World Hope at coordination meetings, at the national and local level. They will refer cases to law enforcement as needed, and follow-up cases to the judicial level.

MAJOR ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
– Referring cases of survivors of abuse, including Gender-Based Violence (GBV) and Trafficking in Persons, to appropriate support services: to other WHI staff, other organizations, the appropriate ministry, and/or law enforcement.

– Providing therapeutic services, and referrals, to survivors of abuse.

– Occasional travel, in rural areas of Sierra Leone will be a requirement of the job; – Liaising closely with the international Anti-Trafficking and GBV team of World Hope International





RECRUITMENT REQUIREMENTS

Degree or certificate in Social Work, Gender or associated field, or relevant work experience

2. Job related experience and knowledge

Experience working with a protection agency is a plus.

Knowledge of protection issues is required.

Must have a willingness to closely follow and help to train on Child Protection Policy. Working knowledge of Word, Excel and Outlook is required.
