BBC Media Action is the international development charity of the BBC, using media and communication to help reduce poverty and support people in claiming their rights. Our aim is to inform, connect and empower people around the world.

We partner with civil society, local media and governments to:

• Produce creative programmes based on robust research in multi-media formats which inform and engage audiences around key development issues.
• Strengthen the media sector through building professional capacity and infrastructure.

In Sierra Leone, BBC Media Action produces national radio programming on a range of health, gender and rights issues. It also works to support and strengthen the capacity of local media through mentoring and training. BBC Media Action has been operating in Sierra Leone since 2007.

The Production Assistant -Drama writer role may involve working with groups of children and vulnerable adults and will absolutely require effective working knowledge of safeguarding policies and procedures in relation to protection of children and vulnerable adults. For the successful candidate, mandatory training will be provided on BBC Media Action’s safeguarding policy and staff code of conduct. A police background check will form part of the recruitment process. BBC Media Action operates a zero-tolerance policy concerning all forms of abuse and exploitation of vulnerable people.
