Position Overview

The Maintenance Coordinator for Kailahun District will effectively facilitate maintenance related activities for all PIH vehicles, including motorcycles , and generators, whiles ensuring standard operating procedure of PIH values and leadership expectations are upheld . In team spirit he will learn from others, requesting or seeking to understand feedback and looking for ways to incorporate the ideas.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Team Work Responsibilities

  •  S/he is committed to information sharing among colleagues, giving feedbacks respectfully and listen to understand rather than focusing on reacting on what he needs to say.
  •  S/he participates in monitoring and supervision of staff, providing technical support and helping the team to balance short and long-term priorities.
  •  S/he’s to be available on phone call at all time for open discussions that invite and encourage diverse ideas, styles and perspectives in building consensus while managing any unforeseen circumstances.
  •  S/he collaborate with the fleet officer and infrastructure manager in organizing regular fleet meetings as a way of sharing views honestly and in an easy way for others to understand.
  •  S/he is to be in readiness to support the training team conducting fleet technical training with staff as s/he is being bias towards action.

General Responsibilities

  •  The Maintenance coordinator for Kailahun ensures PIH vehicles and generators are operated safely and deployed for legitimate purposes while s/he remains flexible and open to discussions in creating possibilities to better serve in the interest of the organization.
  •  S/he keeps record of lubricants or vehicle consumables that were purchased and stock to facilitate vehicle movements and generator operation and maintenance while looking out for more efficient ways to do things better, avoiding wastage of resources and knowing when to Say no.
  •  The Maintenance coordinator of Kailahun effectively facilitates fleet maintenance activities to sustain vehicle support for program activities. He understands how to balance slowing down to deliver quality services whiles still working with urgency.
  •  S/he randomly drives PIH vehicles and ascertain technical problems that the driver may have failed to report whiles seeking to continually improve his work.
  •  S/he support drivers in carrying out their daily vehicle inspection activities correctly and ensure checklists are completed based on genuine observations whiles proactively bringing forth solutions to problems.
  •  S/he reviews vehicle checklists that were completed by assigned drivers to verify the technical problem as highlighted and confirms whether the vehicle requires either maintenance or repair services respectively.
  •  S/he completes the necessary paperwork and forwards said vehicles or motorbike to garage of the authorized service provider, following through on time and communicating progress clearly. eOK4SUE BIpnb
  •  S/he observes and facilitates every garage assessment, ensuring the diagnoses of related technical problems on the vehicles including motorbikes and generators while articulating how the work contributes to PIH’s mission and vision .
  •  S/he follows-up through on garage maintenance activities to ensure spare parts are of standard quality, insta lled on the specific vehicle, motorbike or generator in question whiles clearly communicating progress.
  •  S/he cooperates with finance department to ensure prompt and correct invoice payment is achieved whiles promoting growth in trust between vendors and PIH.
  •  S/he ensures vehicles engaged in referrers can handle road condition without fear of breaking down and not to give up easily whenever road breakdown feels too hard, understanding what he’s supposed to do.
  •  He fully involved in vehicle recovery missions in order to avert potential security threat if any, following through and communicate progress clearly.
  •  He assigns recommended staff with valid driving license to motorcycle whiles s/he honestly share views with riders on the importance of adherence to safety rules anticipating problems and adjusting for changing circumstances.
  •  S/he ensures hard copies of relevant documents are placed on files in a chronological order and continually keep the files updated while dealing with ambiguity productively.
  •  Follow up on supply chain activities to ensure timely delivery of service spare parts and consumables and minimize backlog of work orders
  •  Ensure the maintenance plan is properly executed in a timely manner and ensure that there is a good coordination between all stakeholders
  •  Receive all service documentation related to service work and file accordingly
  •  Open monthly servicing work orders

S/he undertakes any other related duty as may be assigned by the supervisor.

Position Overview

The Logistics Assistant will have responsibilities essential to the day to day operations of the Supply Chain Team, including coordinating customs clearance of international shipments, confirming receipt of items physically and in OpenBoxes, and preparing outgoing shipments. The Logistics Assistant must also ensure that we follow our standard operating procedures in a timely and efficient fashion and maintain consistent and organized records. This position requires a high level of integrity, analytical skills, and attention to detail. The position is full time and reports to the Procurement and Logistics Manager.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Responsibilities

  •  Ensure effective use of internal Standard Operating Procedures, control of the workflows, continuous business processes monitoring and elaboration of improvements in the systems and processes, including proper filing of logistics documents for record and audit trail
  •  Support customs clearing and forwarding process and relationship management with clearing agents, freight forwarders, and local shipping agents
  •  Maintain logistics tracker with all relevant information concerning incoming shipments
  •  Regularly communicate to Logistics Officer by providing weekly updates on incoming and outgoing shipments

. ACU technicians play a vital role within the infrastructure team. The ideal candidate for this position will be responsible for actively engaging in the installation, maintenance, and repair of air conditioning and refrigeration units for various buildings and structures.

Position Overview

Koidu Government hospital (KGH) is a Ministry of Health secondary/tertiary hospital located in Kono district supported by Partners In Health. The hospital services include all clinical services: OPD, Internal Medicine, Non communicable diseases clinic, HIV/TB clinic, Infectious diseases Unit for MDR TB, Emergency department for children and adults, Surgery, Anesthesia, RMNH, Pediatrics, Mental Health and supportive central services such as Laboratory, Microbiology lab, Radiology, Pharmacy, Biomedical department, Infection Prevention Control (IPC). All the departments are working to deliver the highest standards of care possible and to set a Hub for clinical training for the country for different cadres of health care workers (e.g. nurses, midwives, CHOs, Clinical officers, Physician assistants, Medical students, Junior medical officers, Laboratory technicians and Laboratory scientists).

Essential Duties and Responsibilities: General duties:

  •  To work as part of the KGH Clinical Team (Internal Medicine, Surgery, OB/GYN, Pediatrics ) , providing high quality clinical care services to the local and regional population in conjunction with other health workers working cohesively within the multidisciplinary team.
  •  Complete daily rounds on the correspondent ward (Internal Medicine, Surgery, OB/GYN, Pediatrics) with the senior staff and in a collaboration with the rest of the clinical team: nurses, CHOs, Clinical officers, SACHOs, etc.
  •  Manage clinical cases according to national and international clinical guidelines
  •  Maintain accurate and up-to-date medical records, including patient histories, treatment plans, and progress notes.
  •  Provide general support and supervision throughout the hospital, and across sites, as needed
  •  Direct supervision and mentorship for CHOs, clinical officers working in the department
  •  To participate in the morning and departmental meetings in the hospital
  •  To participate in all processes around clinical governance, clinical audit and risk management/patient safety processes, MDSR/PDSR weekly/monthly meetings
  •  Providing regular data reports on the inputs/outputs of all clinical services of the department as needed
  •  Initiating and overseeing Quality Improvement Projects in the hospital to improve practice
  •  Keeping up to date with current practices and innovations
  •  Communicate effectively with families, providing them with updates on their infant’s condition, explaining treatment options, and offering emotional support.

Teaching & Supervision

  •  Training and supervision of junior medical, CHOs, COs and midwifery/nursing team that work with him/her and will devote time to this activity on a regular basis. Participation in formal and informal teaching of the multi-professional team is expected as part of the role
  •  To contribute to formal and informal teaching of undergraduate medical students attached to the clinical team and may be asked to provide seminars or lectures eOHgVUd BIpnb
  •  To undertake educational outreach visits and provide support/advice to other Partners in Health supported facilities within Sierra Leone and One PIH when needed

Management and Leadership

  •  To contribute to health clinical governance, patient safety, risk and clinical effective processes within the department including active participation in audit and guideline development.
  •  To actively engage and support the ongoing development and management of all services within the department.
  •  PIH is committed to multi-professional and multi-disciplinary team working and he/she will be expected to work closely with colleagues both within and outside the department to achieve this aim. As well as with MOH colleagues and management teams

Research

  •  To support ongoing research activity and would be encouraged to develop their own research ideas as appropriate. As well as to share accredited and approved relevant research with all staff to ensure that they provide evidence based and current care to clients

Cross-Departmental Support:

  •  In cases where the need arises, the Medical Officer may be required to provide support to other departments within Koidu Government Hospital. This support may extend to the Emergency Department, General Wards, and the Isolation Ward. This collaborative approach reflects our commitment to holistic health care and the well-being of the community we serve.

Position Overview

We are seeking experienced MEP Coordinators to oversee the efficient operation and maintenance of the mechanical, electrical, and plumbing (MEP) systems within our hospital. The ideal candidates will lead the electricians, Plumbers & AC technicians, scheduling shifts, and managing duty rotations. They will coordinate with other departments for maintenance/repairs and ensure strict compliance with safety regulations. Additionally, they will be responsible for maintaining an inventory of spare parts, coordinating with procurement and engineers when necessary for stock replenishment.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Operational Responsibilities:

  •  Oversee the commissioning, monitoring, and decommissioning of plumbing, electrical, and ACU operations/assets to ensure smooth functioning throughout the hospital.
  •  Conduct regular checks and inspections during the operations of plumbing systems, electrical systems, and ACU units to identify and address any potential issues promptly.
  •  Respond quickly and effectively to alarms or unusual operating conditions in plumbing, electrical, and ACU systems, implementing appropriate actions to maintain performance.
  •  Ensure that preventive maintenance tasks are performed according to schedule to uphold the reliability and efficiency of plumbing, electrical, and ACU systems.
  •  Maintain and create a safe working environment for staff and ensure optimal performance.

The US President’s Malaria Initiative (PMI) is supporting Sierra Leone in implementing Indoor residual Spraying since 2021. Supervisor: MEL Senior Assistant

Specific duties:

  • Train SOPs, Team Leaders and Brigade Supervisors on data collection using the approved M&E tools
  • Ensure correct use of data collection tools and supervise data collection at operation sites
  • Responsible for overall monitoring of data collection activities in the assigned site
  • Ensure all data are reviewed and verified by Team leaders/Brigade supervisor for their respective teams and reported according to the approved data flow and timelines
  • Identify and report data errors to MEL Senior manager via data collection tool provided
  • Take corrective actions as required for quality improvement at site level
  • Perform data collection verification in project-supported communities as required
  • Ensure timely delivery of data (paper forms) from the field to the data center
  • Submit daily spray progress reports for the assigned operation sites

REQUIREMENTS

2.) Data Entry Clerk (x37)

Position: Data Entry Clerk

Number required: 19 Bo district & 12 Bombali District

Supervisor: Database Manager/MEL Senior Manager

Specific duties:

 

  • Reviewing all data on SOP forms for accuracy, completeness; then enter project database
  • Sort and organize paper records following data entry according to project data filing protocols
  • Updating database daily as per the data entry protocols
  • Perform regular and extensive data cleaning
  • Provide feedback to Data Entry Clerk Supervisors on data collection errors
  • Update Data Error and Forms tracker daily
  • Make sure all data forms are entered according to defined variables;
  • Working closely with project Database Manager to correct data entry issues;
  • Syncing the database on daily basis;
  • Maintain database security;
  • Mark and file entered forms in the cabinets or box files;
  • Perform any other duties that may be assigned by MEL Senior Manager

 

Requirements

  • Minimum of Diploma in Computer/ IT Science, Social sciences, statistics, Public Health or related fields (students are encouraged to apply)
  • Must be able to focus for long periods and perform quickly and adequately
  • Must have excellent touch-typing skills
  • Knowledgeable and experienced in data entry and management
  • Good organizational and communication skills
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work as part of a team
  • Experience in the use of DHIS2 preferred

3.) Logistics Assistant (x2)

Position: Logistics Assistant

Number required: 1 Bo district & Bombali District

Supervisor: Logistics Coordinator

Specific duties:

  • Provides logistical support for IRS activities, including spray operations, transport, and distribution of materials to operation site.
  • Assists in managing the inventory, storage and irreparable materials, under the direction of logistics coordinator
  • Works closely with district coordinator to ensure vehicles daily use sheet is completed accurately by drivers.
  • Ensuring regular follow up of the hired project vehicles in the filed plan for any requirement for programme activities in liaison with the district Coordinator and logistics Coordinator.
  • Oversee the collection of used insecticide sachets/bottles and PPEs and ensure sorting and storage at operation stores in collaboration with Environmental Compliance and safety Assistant.
  • Plan and organize daily and weekly projections of logistics needs and movement.
  • Ensure regular restocking of insecticides and other materials is done on time and before stock runs out.
  • Verify completeness, accuracy and authenticate the ledger books at the operations sites stores.

 

Required qualifications:

  • Diploma in Logistics and supply chain management or relevant field.
  • Work experience in inventory control and warehouse/store management is preferred.
  • Possess Basic Knowledge of MS Excel.
  • Must be knowledgeable about the safe handling of insecticides and adherence to basic environmental compliance guidelines.
  • Willingness and flexibility to work long hours
  • Ability to work under pressure with little or no supervision.
  • Being a resident of the assigned operation site is an added advantage.
  • Female Storekeepers MUST not be pregnant or lactating mothers during the spray campaign.
  • Must be both physically and medically fit with no history of chronic respiratory infection or allergic to insecticides.

4.) Warehouse Assistant (x4)

Position: Warehouse Assistant

Specific duties:

  • Assist in overseeing daily operations of warehouse and maintain proper inventory records system at proper levels.
  • Ensure proper storage and identification of all items in the warehouse.
  • Inspect IRS materials received in the warehouse to verify quality and quantity of items delivered.
  • To keep track of receipts, issues records and withdrawals of all IRS related materials in the Warehouse.
  • Follow up on supply requests from operation site and liaise with the Warehouse Manager and site Manager to monitor progress.
  • Assist warehouse manager to ensure proper material and equipment storage to avoid damages and ensure rotation of short shelf-life items.

5.) Site Manager (x23)

Specific Duties:

  • Coordinate all IRS site activities (morning mobilization of IRS teams and end of the day clean-up of equipment and personnel)
  • Populate Spray Performance Tracker with spray results at the end of each day
  • Lead coordination and planning of next-day movement for IRS teams and mobilizers through evening meetings with IRS site team
  • Compile community-level IRS data at the end of each day to guide next-day movement of IRS teams and mobilizers
  • Responsible for timely dispatch of IRS teams to the communities every morning of the IRS campaign
  • Report ALL incident of side effect related to insecticide to the District Coordinator and environmental Compliance Assistant.
  • Responsible for daily preparation of a soak pit for IRS activities
  • Ensure food for IRS teams is provided on time
  • Ensure water for washing and cleaning is always provided

  • Minimum academic qualification of a Diploma in any field

  • Good verbal communication skills in English
  • Knowledge of a local language is an advantage
  • MUST be able to use a mobile phone to perform basic functions such as sending SMS

6.) IEC Supervisor (x28)

Position: IEC Supervisor

Number required: 16 chiefdoms Bo district & 12 chiefdoms Bombali District

Period: March to May 2024

Specific duties:

  • Coordinate mobilization of all communities in the assigned Chiefdom to increase acceptance of IRS
  • Lead implementation of communication strategies in assigned chiefdom to ensure ALL community-level stakeholders ACCEPT IRS BEFORE the spray campaign
  • Coordinate IRS mass mobilization activities by working closely with the District Coordinator, site managers and community mobilizers in assigned operation sites ensuring coordinate their visits well
  • Liaise with community leadership, district council officials, and respective DHMTs for assistance with community mobilization and IRS sensitization efforts
  • Ensure mobilization and IEC activities are implemented as per the mobilization calendar and spray calendar
  • Manage and work closely with community mobilizers to ensure households in each community are fully prepared and accept IRS
  • Facilitate training, coordinate, and supervise activities of IEC assistant and Mobilizers and all other actors involved in mobilization within assigned chiefdom during the implementation of IRS.
  • Take photos of IRS mass mobilization activities daily
  • Submit daily progress reports on (mobilization activities, challenges experienced lessons learned, and successes) and submit to IEC coordinator and district coordinator
  • Ensure all operation sites are well branded with IRS banners and other IEC materials
  • Work with site manager and other field staff to orientate community mobilizers on their roles and responsibilities
  • Ensure community mobilizers have functioning megaphones to carry out their activities
  • Monitor and report on IRS radio discussion programs and Jingles
  • MUST collect and report community mobilization data for communities visited after each community meeting using the recommended electronic tools and mobilization forms prior to the start of the IRS campaign

 

Required qualifications:

  • Diploma in communication, community development, public health, social science, or related discipline.
  • Training in participatory approaches and community mobilization is preferable.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work as part of a team.
  • Ability to write news stories and take good photos.
  • Ability to work independently with minimum supervision.
  • Proficiency in English and ability to speak the common local language in Bo and Bombali districts.
  • Very good knowledge of the geographical setup of the targeted Chiefdom and must be residents of the targeted Chiefdom.

 

Expectation:

  • Increase in IRS acceptance in the targeted communities/villages.
  • IRS-targeted villages have been visited at least once before and during the IRS campaign.
  • Community mobilization forms are properly filled in for all targeted villages and submitted to the M&E team.
  • IEC Assistants are well supervised and ensure they are performing their tasks accordingly.

7.) Brigade Supervisor (x64)

  • Supervise IRS teams to ensure spray quality according to best IRS practices
  • Ensure that all spray operators and team leaders comply with the best IRS practices

  • While in the field, work with communities on IRS procedures, help in the house preparation, during spraying.
  • Supervise attendance and also enforce robust community awareness about the benefit of spraying and all necessary preparations required for safer spraying
  • Supervise performance of IEC Mobilizers
  • Report ALL incident of side effect related to insecticide to the Site manager and environmental Compliance Assistant.
  • Assist IRS teams in the field if any operational or performance problems arise
  • Participate in planning of next-day IRS team movements led by a site manager
  • Develop and monitor teams’ weekly logistics and supplies and report to site managers (i.e. spray pumps, pump parts, flashlight and transportation schedule etc.)

9.) Storekeeper (x23)

Position: Storekeeper

Number required: 14 Bo District & 9 Bombali District

Supervisor: Site Manager

Specific duties:

  • Keep and update stock cards, ledger book for each item in the operation site store
  • Stick barcode serial numbers on insecticide bottles/sachets and scan the barcode for each of the insecticide bottles or sachets you are giving out to the Team Leader,
  • Submit weekly situational report on the operation site store
  • Take care of the cleanliness and the good maintenance of the operation site store
  • Oversee daily store operations and maintain stocks according to prescribed inventory system
  • Ensure proper storage and identification of all IRS materials,
  • Keep track of receipts, records and withdrawals of all IRS materials in the operation site store
  • Ensure timely replenishment of needed supplies in consultation with the Logistics Assistant and Warehouse manager,
  • Collaborate with district coordinator and site manager in facilitating training programs for IRS spray operators, washers, pump cleaners and guards at operation site.

 

Required qualifications:

  • Diploma in Logistics and supply chain management or relevant field.
  • Work experience in inventory control and warehouse/store management is preferred.
  • Possess Basic Knowledge of MS Excel.
  • Must be knowledgeable about the safe handling of insecticides and adherence to basic environmental compliance guidelines.
  • Willingness and flexibility to work long hours
  • Ability to work under pressure with little or no supervision.
  • Being a resident of the assigned operation site is an added advantage.
  • Female Storekeepers MUST not be pregnant or lactating mothers during the spray campaign.
  • Must be both physically and medically fit with no history of chronic respiratory infection or allergic to insecticides.

Position: Team Leader

Supervisor: Site Manager

Specific duties:

  • Ensure every morning that their spray teams have all the necessary personal protection equipment and that it is in good working order
  • Checks the amount of insecticide in serialized sachets that each spray operator requires and ensures that he/she has all the necessary information and SOP forms required for the day’s work
  • At the of each day, he/she ensures that each spray operator properly and safely disposes of any remaining insecticide following the progressive rinse method, and that he/she thoroughly cleans his/her spray pump at a designated wash area
  • At the end of each day, report on insecticide use and ensure they are properly recorded on the SOP and TL forms
  • Supervise spray team using spray Quality checklist provided to ensure spray quality
  • Ensure that all spray operators comply with the best IRS practices
  • Ensure spraying is done according to environmental, health and safety standards
  • Allocates a number of structures to each spray operator upon arrival in a targeted village
  • While in the field, sensitize households on IRS procedures, its importance benefits and support household members during house preparation
  • Supervise attendance and performance SOPs
  • Review and verify SOP daily

 

 

Required qualifications:

  • Have experience working as CHW, resident in the catchment communities
  • Experience working as CHW Peer Supervisor will be an advantage

Position: Spray Operator

Supervisor: Site Manager

Specific duties:

  • Each spray operator prepares his/her hand-compression sprayer for review and inspection by the spray team leader.
  • Ensure to always wear the full set of clean PPEs before beginning to mix insecticide, during the spraying.
  • Ensure to follow the household preparation procedures before spraying.
  • Ensure the correct mixing of the insecticide.
  • Ensure the correct application of the insecticide on the wall of the structure.
  • Fill in the spray operator form neatly and correctly with defined variables.
  • Ensure to mark the structure after spraying.
  • Comply with the Environmental Best Management Practices
  • Perform triple rinsing of equipment at the end of each day.
  • Laise with the storekeeper to handover all IRS materials and equipment each day from the field.

 

Required qualifications:

Position: Pump Technician

Specific duties:

  • Assist the spray team to achieve spray targets by diagnosing common problems with the sprayer.
  • Identify the root causes.
  • Perform the correct steps to fix common pumps problems and demonstrate proper calibration.
  • Contribute to good environmental compliance practices by ensuring proper maintenance and quick repairs of sprayer Pumps.
  • Responsible of lifespan for the spray pumps by ensuring the care and proper handling of sprayer pumps at operation sites
  • Communicate with spray operators and supervisors to help the spray team to achieve spray targets.

Required Qualification:

  • Excellent interpersonal communications and knowledge of Mende and Temne is compulsory.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of testing and calibrating the spray pump
  • Installation of Control Flow Valve and ability check the nozzle and the screen filters to ensure they are not clogged.
  • Ability to understand the internal and external parts of sprayer pumps by name.

The incumbent reports directly to the HVAC/Cooling Systems Foreman. The position holder is employed as a Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning (HVAC) Technician to accomplish skilled maintenance and repair work at the journeyman HVAC technician level, to International Building Code (IBC) standards, throughout all facilities on the Embassy Compound to include office buildings, out buildings, ancillary structures, and residential owned/leased properties.

Qualifications and Evaluations

Requirements:
EXPERIENCE: A minimum of three (3) years of journey-level experience in the installation, operations, repair and maintenance of commercial or industrial HVAC/mechanical refrigeration systems.
Minimum of 3 years’ work experience operating, maintaining, or repairing 100-ton chillers or larger, and large air-handling units is required. Work experience must demonstrate a progression of increased responsibility working on complex sophisticated equipment and components,including operation and maintenance, and troubleshooting.
JOB KNOWLEDGE:  The incumbent must have superior knowledge, exceptional technical skills, and a thorough understanding of heating, ventilation, and air-conditioning (HVAC) systems with an in-depth understanding of thermodynamics and how they apply to HVAC theories and principles. Must be well-versed in HVAC controls including motor starters, thermostats, humidistats, variable frequency drive (VFD) motors and controllers, motorized and gravity dampers, and building automation systems and sensors. Must have a thorough understanding of US or IBC standards, mechanical / ASHRAE standards, indoor air quality standards, building pressurization, ductwork sizing and air flow principles, and fire and life safety codes.
Education Requirements:
Completion of secondary school required. Successful completion of vocational training from an accredited institute recognized as producing journeyman level technicians with specialization in the HVAC field is required. The Incumbent will have completed a course of study covering the principles of air conditioning, heating, and ventilation (HVAC), system design, system maintenance and troubleshooting, the various types of Freon and their uses, building pressurization, indoor air quality, and other specialized applications is required.
Evaluations:
LANGUAGE: LANGUAGE:  Good working knowledge in Written/Speaking/Reading English is required. In order to translate local technical information, contract documents, and correspondences from the local language into English for the Supervising Building Engineer and the Senior/Deputy Facility Manager. Good knowledge in Speaking/Reading Krio is required. In order to communicate with local contractors and other LE Staff. This may be tested.

As a waste management officer, you will be a part of developing, planning and executing projects  aimed at providing a reliable and efficient service for the collection, transportation and disposal of  waste. You will also be responsible for ensuring legislation is followed and budgets are managed  effectively. Waste management and recycling coordination may be combined into one role, so an  understanding of local and national environmental policies may be required.

In the role of Waste Management Officer, you will organize and manage waste disposal, collection and  recycling facilities to make well informed decisions to support the projects, support field staff (WHI +  Skills Pool), and international partner and volunteers (EWB-DK) and engage community members in  order to establish robust project implementation strategies and ensure project success, effectiveness, and efficiency, achievement of goals and objectives, with a specific focus on waste management.

The main Duties and Responsibilities of the Waste Management Officer will include:

  1. Oversee waste management projects, including waste collection at the lagoon, a waste management facility, and landfill sites.
  2. Supervise the transportation and handling of waste to ensure that it takes place efficiently without contaminating air, land, or water sources.
  3. Assist with the development, promotion, and implementation of new waste disposal plans and projects.
  4. Advise the EWB-DK Project Manager and project members in the design, appraisal, and implementation support of investment operations in the field of waste management.
  5.  Ensure compliance with current legislation in the transportation, handling, and disposal of  waste.
  6. Formulate and control budgets and activity plans for waste disposal projects.
  7. Support exploration of potential waste value-chains, with focus on reusing, recycling, and business generating.

  9. Monitor the quality and performance of waste services, including contract management of external providers.
  10. Assist with the development of information and promotional materials.
  11. Support to meet waste reduction and recycling targets.

  13. Investigate and follow up claims of the illegal dumping of waste and work with other waste regulation enforcement staff.
  14. Identify and target areas with fly tipping or black bag problems, working to find solutions to eliminate these.

Position Overview
The Architect will support the day-to-day planning and management of various new-construction and rehabilitation projects at multiple Primary Health Units across multiple districts in Sierra Leone.

 

This position will work hand-in-hand with the Ministry of Health and Sanitation towards the successful designs for the renovation and expansion of 12 primary health units.

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
 

  1. Documenting of Existing Facilities
    • Evaluates existing building conditions to understand spaces, integrity of structure, staff and patient flows
    • Compiles existing conditions into as-built documents; architectural floor plans, building elevations, ceiling plans, window and door schedules, site layout plans. All drawings and details shall be produced to-scale

Position Overview
PIH-Sierra Leone is supporting the Ministry of Health and Sanitation in the implementation of the five-year World Bank funded QEHSSSP health systems strengthening project that will implement a comprehensive Hub-and-Spoke approach in 5 districts in Sierra Leone through focused investments in staff, stuff, space, systems and nutrition.

Through the project, Partners in Health, in the leadership of Ministry of Health and Sanitation, will be supporting 3 health facilities in the district (Jojoima, Buedu and Bandajuma) through comprehensive health systems strengthening approaches to develop these sites as sites for comprehensive Reproductive, Maternal, Neonatal, Child Adolescent Health and Nutrition services.

The positions will be based in one of the health facilities in Kailahun: Jojoima CHC, Buedu CHC or Yawei Bandajuma CHC

The assistant nutritionist will work under the supervision of facility in charge and will support in delivering high quality nutrition services to the patients. She/ he will also be responsible for monitoring the standards of food being provided at the birth waiting home. The incumbent will also be responsible for providing counselling on Maternal, Infant and young child nutrition and providing nutrition support to clients identified with under nutrition.

Main duties and responsibilities
  • Ensure the standards and operational procedures regarding the delivery of nutrition services are adhered to.
  • Collate individual and monthly reports on nutrition support provided through the facility.
  • Monitor the availability and usage of food supplies and develop a system for reordering so as to avoid stock out of nutrition commodity
  • To assist in maintaining dietetic standards and provide diet counselling to patients at the health facility.
  • To monitor the standard of food being prepared at the birth waiting home.
  • Provide counselling to clients on maternal, infant and young child feeding practices.

Position Overview
 Partners In Health (PIH) is looking for a detail-oriented, results-driven Award and Compliance Manager with experience working on World Bank financed projects. We are looking for someone with strong cross-cultural competence and superb interpersonal and organizational skills to provide guidance and support to PIH Sierra Leone in grant compliance and award management.

 

As part of PIH’s cross-site Grants Management and Compliance function, this position will report to the Associate Director of Award Management. The Award and Compliance Manager will provide focused support to PIH Sierra Leone on a five-year award from the World Bank to strengthen the quality of essential health services and systems, in partnership with the Ministry of Health and Sanitation Sierra Leone, ensuring internal controls are strong.
Sitting outside day-to-day operations, the Award and Compliance Manager will work closely with PIH Sierra Leone staff to ensure strong management of program, finance, procurement, human resource, and operational functions in line with the Project Implementation Manual and donor regulations. In each of the foregoing areas, the Award and Compliance Manager will play a pivotal role in ensuring the implementation of internal controls and donor requirements to deliver on time, on scope, and on budget. This position will be a primary grant compliance resource for the implementation and oversight of project operations and compliance systems and processes in accordance with PIH policies, the Project Implementation Manual, MOHS and donor requirements. This work includes ongoing monitoring, accompaniment, and training of staff for clear and accurate demonstration of results on the project’s goals, financial management, donor assessments, and audits.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Ensure PIH Sierra Leone has adequate policies, procedures, systems, and staff capacity to operationalize the quality essential health services and systems project in accordance with the requirements of the project implementation manual.
  • Act as the primary point person for matters arising from the project implementation manual including comprehensive consideration of donor regulations into the activities and project operations. This work includes donor’s prior, post-approvals, and waivers for exceptional needs and circumstances.

Position Overview
 

The main purpose of the position is to provide support for PIH Microbiology Laboratory (ML) to ensure reliable results on time to Clinicians for management with targeted treatment rather than empirical treatment by WHO standards and project needs and ensure that the role of the microbiology laboratory in antimicrobial stewardship is enhanced.

  • Support the PIHSL Microbiology Lab team to be operational based on the Clinical Laboratory Standards Institute (CLSI) or European Committee on Antimicrobial Susceptibility Testing (EUCAST) to process blood cultures for patients.
  • Support the activities from the project side and be the link between PIHSL and project team.
  • Ensure competency of all Lab personnel and adherence to PIH/MOHS Quality Management System.

 

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
The Microbiologist will be responsible to oversees all aspects of PIH/MOH microbiology Lab at Koidu Government hospital in Kono District.

 

  • Train PIH/Ministry of Health (MoH) laboratory technicians on microbiology techniques in accordance with PIH/MOHS and international standards.
  • Ensure to provide timely, reliable, and reproducible identification of microorganisms and antimicrobial susceptibility results.
  • Actively participate in the antimicrobial stewardship committee and development of guidelines for the most common infectious diseases.
  • Ensure the implementation of an Internal and external quality control system in the laboratory.
  • Adapt the existing WHO Standard Operation Procedures for microbiology and other tools in accordance with MoH guidelines.
  • Ensuring proper registration and records of all microbiology lab-related activities, implementing the correct use of the surveillance program WHONET to have proper records of laboratory results.
  • Provide monthly reports based on extracted data from surveillance program WHONET.
  • Compile, analyze and report microbiology lab activities and results to the clinical team providing relevant information for AMR surveillance and IPC.
  • Plan and supervise, in close coordination with the project team, supply chain team for local and international orders for consumables and equipment needed for the microbiology laboratory.
  • Monitor laboratory stock ensuring that stock cards are updated to calculate proper Average Monthly Consumptions of commodities to avoid stock ruptures.

Responsibilities

The Mining Manager is responsible for managing the activities of the mining and the ancillary support services for the mining operation.  The role would include mining, mine planning, ore supply, grade control drilling (mine geology), drilling and blasting, loading and hauling, run-of-mine stockpile management, pit dewatering and infrastructure as well as maintaining all internal roads.

Responsibilities

About Us

Responsibilities

The Operator concrete mixer self-loading – Civils is responsible for operating a self-loading concrete mixing truck to deliver concrete, sand, gravel, and other batched construction materials onsite, safely and to the correct specifications as well as ensuring that the equipment is always properly maintained. The responsibilities include but not limited to:

  • Mix concrete materials or chemicals with water or other liquids to create concrete and batched mixtures.
  • Inspect materials to ensure they are of high quality and fit for use in the batching process.
  • Confidently operate equipment that mixes concrete or other batch materials.
  • Use equipment to measure and batch, such as a computerized device that assists with the batching process.
  • Clean equipment and work areas after use.
  • Maintain records of batched production activities such as amounts used and types of materials used.
  • Maintain records of materials to ensure that they are adequately stockpiled.
  • Ensure daily pre-start checklist for machinery is completed before commencement of works.
  • Keep a log of trip details, mileage, hours worked, fuel consumption and any incidents.

 

Skills and Experience

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Valid Sierra Leone appropriate commercial driver’s license with a clean driving record.
  • Knowledge of concrete mixing ratios.
  • Minimum 5 years of concrete mixing truck experience mandatory. Previous experience with self-loading mixer trucks preferred.
  • Good communication skills to be able to clearly communicate with co-workers and supervisors and, also be able to communicate with the machine and understand its signals and requirements.
  • Attention to detail to ensure the correct mix is followed precisely as to what was requested from team.
  • Problem solving skills to navigate their vehicle through a construction site and workers to position for safe loading and unloading.
  • Able to use computer designated software daily.

  • support the function to deliver its objective of identifying and managing legal risks, and verifying compliance with local laws as well as guaranteeing the management and security of all mineral rights.
  • provide legal advice to internal clients to manage legal risk, guarantee regulatory compliance, review contracts and human resources processes, manage litigation and external counsel, and manage costs of the department.

SOS Children’s Villages in Sierra Leone is recruiting Maintenance Assistants to perform routine building and equipment maintenance duties, including painting, minor electrical repairs, plumbing, carpentry, and heating and ventilation systems maintenance. Overseeing the work of contracted vendors as required.

 

She/he must maintain a comprehensive record of all major & minor maintenances & repairs carried out at any given time.

 

The Maintenance Assistant must keep a proper stock record of all tools and materials issued to him/her and use them efficiently.

 

Inspecting control panels and electrical wiring to detect any issues that require immediate attention.

 

Promptly responding to requests for emergency repairs and clean-ups.

 

Notify management of occurring deficiencies or needs for repairs.

 

Ensuring that all maintenance equipment is in good working order.

 

Skills, Qualifications and Experience

 

  • BECE Certificate
  • 2+ years of experience
  • Knowledge of Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning (HVAC), plumbing, electrical, carpentry, and mechanical systems (including relevant equipment and tools) is a plus
  • Ability to stand or walk for extended periods of time; ability to bend, kneel, stoop, and lift or move heavy equipment
  • Ability to read and interpret safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and other manuals and documents
  • Ability to work in a team and follow instructions from supervisors
