1.) Mason

 

Position Overview:

Masons are an important member of the infrastructure team. The successful candidate for this job will be required to participate in all  construction, maintenance, and repair of brick, cement, stone, and plaster for buildings, and other structures.

 

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Able to form concrete block from molds at a consistent quality and pace
  • Responsible for mixing concrete, mortar, plaster as needed
  • Responsible for building with concrete bricks/blocks, concrete and other construction materials
  • Able to consistently install work in a plumb and level fashion
  • Able to install screening on vertical and horizontal surfaces
  • Make assessments, reports, and note needed materials

Make plans and report changes if there’s any to the Site Supervisor

2.) Electrician

 

Position Overview:

The Electrician is a value member of the infrastructure team under the operations department. He or she will be responsible for installing and repairing complex electrical power, wiring, and lighting systems working from construction drawings.

 

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Install, maintain, and enhance electrical systems and components, including fuses, lights, and wiring
  • Able to properly size circuit breakers based on loads
  • Inspect, test, and diagnose issues with electrical systems and components
  • Perform all work in a manner that meets and follows electrical standards
  • Test electrical systems and components to ensure proper functioning
  • Ensure adequate inventory of necessary supplies and parts
  • Perform preventative maintenance on electrical systems and components

Troubleshoot problems and make timely repairs as required.

Position Overview:

The carpenter is a value member of the infrastructure team under the operations department. He or she will be responsible for construction of, or repairs of cabinets, doors, frameworks, trusses, roofing or other wooden fixtures used in buildings, using woodworking machines, hand tools, or power tools.

 

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Furniture: Responsible for the construction, repair, and installation of cabinets, shelving, tables, chairs, using woodworking machines, hand tools, or power tools
  • Ceiling/Roofing: Responsible for new construction and/or repair of ceilings, ceiling trim, roofing trusses/supports, roofing panels, using woodworking machines, hand tools, or power tools
  • Doors/Windows: Fits and installs window frames, doors, door frames, door hardware, interior and exterior trim using woodworking machines, hand tools, or power tools
  • Follows established safety rules and regulations and maintaining a safe and clean environment
  • Moves necessary materials around jobsite as assigned

Cleans up worksite debris.

4.) Community Liaison Officer

 

Position Overview:

The Community Liaison officer plays a vital role as the focal point of our community health workers program in Kailahun, and supports our overall Community-based programs as required. The PIH Liaison officer will coordinate and link all Community health worker programs in Kailahun to Partners In Health supported health facilities or projects. He / She will Provide day to day managerial and administrative tasks within the PIH community-based programs in Kailahun The candidate will be expected to work with all relevant clinical and other department teams within PIH, and also work with other external partners, government counterparts, stakeholders and community leaders to ensure that our activities are in line with the government requirements and that these activities are complimentary (and not duplicate) to the activities of other government partners/stakeholders. Additionally, the candidate will document and report on Key Performance Indicators (KPI’s), trainings, mentorships and supervisions performed both at facility and community level, as required.

 

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Work closely with CBP manger and the Director of Primary Care to rollout a PIH Community Health Worker (CHW) support to the national CHW program in Kailahun as part of the QEHSSP program.
  • Work closely with the national CHW district lead to replicate Partners In Health CHW model in Kailahun, in terms of structures, supervision and referrals
  • Provides capacity building through trainings and systems implementation to the community Health worker program team
  • Collaborate and assist the national CHW program district lead to develop training curriculums and oversees logistics for trainings and program implementation.
  • Develop and implement a mentorship program to the community health care workers
  • Provide and support the development of a good and robust data systems, and promote data collection systems to ensure timely data use by the community health worker program.
  • Work closely with National CHW district lead and the PIH director of Primary Care to provide day to day supervision and performance reviews of community health workers.
  • Review regularly the national CHW KPIs in relation to the QEHSSP to ensure that the indicator targets are being met, and discuss with the PIH CBP leadership any concerns as they occur.
  • Work closely with the National CHW district lead and the PIH CBP leadership to institute and oversee a robust performance-based incentive program to the CHWs as appropriate.
  • Work closely with community stakeholders and members to raise awareness of Partners In Health activities and programs
  • Mentor and assist with work plan creation and timely implementation of activities
  • Work closely with the clinical team to address health challenges in the communities through organized community engagements and sensitization.
  • Provide appropriate feedback to community stakeholders and community leaders in relation to the PIH community health worker program.
  • Oversee all day-to day Partners In Health community health worker activities at both facility and community levels and report to the CBP manager and/or Director of Primary Care as required
  • Collaborate with the district CHW lead in doing spot-check supervisions in line with the national supervision schedules.
  • Coordinate closely with other community health stakeholders and organization on potential joint efforts aiming to improve the health and wellness of those in greatest need.
  • Participate in all district stakeholders meeting /engagement in relation to national Community health workers program /community development related to health, and promote the PIH social justice agenda in any given opportunity.

The Motorbike Mechanic will be responsible to carry out specific service types for all GOAL Sierra Leone Kenema/Moyamba based motorbikes and mechanical equipment.

To succeed in this role, you will have a Certificate in Auto Mechanics Minimum grade C valid driving license with a minimum of 5 years riding experience, Minimum of 3 years maintenance/repair experience on motorbikes and Basic knowledge of auto electrical systems

To ensure that motorbikes are service and maintained on a regular basis as per the manufacturers  instruction manual

7. Ensure running log books are used with each working motorbikes

8. Work with the Store Keeper on procedures and paper works required for requesting and issuing of  stock of spares and consumables for motorbikes

9. Ensure that the motorbikes are safe and fit to ride

10. To Liaise with the Logistics Manager and riders to ensure that , all servicing and repairs are done  on schedule and to ensure, where possible, that each motorbike has a designated rider 11. To liaise with the Logistics Manager on the purchasing of spare parts, ensuring parts are of good  quality

12. To ensure spare keys are available for each motorbike

13. To keep accurate and up to date records of repairs and servicing and to ensure that each motorbike  is serviced every 1000kms. To fit service sticker on log books to remind rider of next service due 14. To ensure that each designated Rider washes his motorbike at least onec per week or as required

PURPOSE

World Vision Sierra Leone is seeking a solution that provides power for its Southern Provincial Office at Tikonko BO District to take care of entire office power needs on a 24hts basis, simple to maintain, expandable and most importantly cost-effective. Integration into an existing locally-based Solar Power Grid is preferred to minimise risk and issues with cumbersome installation. The vendor’s proposed solution must meet the following requirements for identified office.

Vendors are also encouraged to initiate the preparation of proposals immediately upon receipt of this RFP and before the preproposal conference so that their relevant questions and information needs can be identified and answered. WVISL Tikonko Office needs a solution for a load requirement of 12Kva. Vendors are required to submit the cost for implementation of this solution to accommodate the power requirements.




OBJECTIVE OF THE ASSIGNMENT

The objectives of this RFP are: 

  • Acquire a good Solar Power Solution for 24 hrs
  • Make provision for expansion to absorb future LOAD.
  • Integrate with internal network or deploy an end to end internal electrical power infrastructure
  • Provide prompt after implementation support
  • Implement a power solution that will last for a reasonably long time without any major maintenance even after the warranty period

SCOPE OF THE ASSIGNMENT

Service Providers are expected to consider the following as part of their proposal in their submission:

  • Project management and installation services and costs
  • Service Level Agreement covering the warranty period.

The Logistics Unit is currently seeking an experienced and talented Motorcycle Mechanic to join the dynamic team. In this position, the Motorcycle Mechanic will be responsible for maintaining and repairing all project motorcycles in all Plan International Sierra Leone operational locations. Her/his duties will include monitoring inventory of spare parts, inspecting, and assembling/maintaining/repairing of motorcycles





DIMENSIONS OF ROLE

To succeed in this role, the Motorcycle Mechanic should be physically and mentally fit and have a solid knowledge of basic mechanic’s tools, service, and diagnostic equipment. The ideal candidate will have strong attention to detail, with excellent communication and customer service skills.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:

  • Conduct regular maintenance on machinery, systems, and automotive vehicles/motorbikes.
  • Meet with clients/users assigned with motorbikes to understand their concerns better and identify the
  • issue.
  • Assemble mechanical components according to specifications.
  • Examine motorcycles and oversee diagnostic tests to determine functionality problems.
  • Design a plan of action for all maintenance tasks and upgrades.
  • Maintain work logs, repairs, and maintenance records.
  • Monitor inventory and order new parts when necessary.
  • Offer consultation on maintenance and preventative procedures to machine and motorcycle users.
  • Perform motorcycle assessments and alert clients/users on issues that will prohibit their vehicles from passing inspection.
  • Determine the riding skills of new motorcycle users before motorcycle is assigned to them

  1. Job Summary:

2.) WASH Technician

Job Objective(S):

Based in Mattru Jong, the WASH Technician frequently travels to the field. The WASH Technician will be responsible for the construction and rehabilitation of water points. The WASH Technician will work closely with the WaSAP Lead Technician in developing bills of quantities, drawing/designs, and day-to-day supervision of field technicians to ensure quality infrastructure.

 

Reporting to:

Project Manager

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Work with WaSAP Lead Technician to conduct a continual review of the designs and functionality of the constructed or rehabilitated water supply systems to ensure efficient operation and sustainability.

  • Act as the technical person in the development of Bill of Quantities and designs for all WASH works on the various communities including but not limited to latrines construction, water points, and rehabilitation in the target communities.

  • Work with the WaSAP Lead Technician to design templates, construction contracts for WASH-related works, and a system for monitoring the progress and performance of hired technicians.

  • Provide rigorous supervision of WASH hardware works in the various communities.

  • Provide technical inputs in the production of WaSAP regular reports internally and externally: Weekly, monthly, quarterly, etc.

  • Liaise with the WaSAP Lead Technician on the quantity and quality of materials to be requested and requests on time for prompt delivery to the site

  • Be involved in capacity building of Water Management Committees (WMCs) on routine maintenance techniques and maintaining the constructed or rehabilitated WASH infrastructure.

  • Ensure that the Water Management Committees and VSLA groups work closely to ensure funds are available to maintenance the WASH infrastructure.

  • Provide updates to the Project Manager on the state of Water and Sanitation infrastructure by working closely with the trained WMCs committees regularly.

  • Maintaining an accurate record and taking proper care of all field equipment and material stocks for the company as per WaSAP standard.

  • Cooperate with local authorities and local communities – attending meetings, taking notes, informing the Project Manager about the outcome of meetings attended.

Desirable Qualification, skills, and competencies

  • Diploma in Civil Engineering, Water Engineering or Architecture or any relevant technical qualification

  • At least two years of experience with a non-profit, non-governmental organization or private engineering firm

  • Demonstrated skill in the use of AutoCAD, CAD, GIS software, and GPS device

  • Experience in drafting Bill of Quantities for civil works

  • Experience in groundwater development and rehabilitation. Excellent experience with Microsoft Excel, including use of formulas and pivot tables

Based in Mattru Jong, with frequent filed visits, the Linking Agriculture and Natural Resource Management towards Nutrition Security (LANN) Field Officerisresponsible to Responsible for promoting sustained behavior and practices conducive to improving nutrition security among project target communities with limited access to markets and quality health services. The LANN Officer will supports households to pursue a higher convergence of feasible nutrition-sensitive strategies across the linkages among agriculture, nutrition, income generation, and WASH.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conducting a multi-dimensional nutrition-sensitive assessment that captures information related to the core areas of LANN+ in the target communities to foster a comprehensive understanding of the situation and enable an integrated response.

  • Analyzing the Food Nutrition Security (FNS) situation to get an in-depth understanding of issues related to immediate and underlying causes of malnutrition in the targeted communities.

  • Assessing the context at local level, analyze underlying and basic causes of malnutrition, design appropriate activities addressing types and causes of malnutrition.

  • Incorporating nutrition objectives and indicators community programs.

  • Targeting the most vulnerable (marginalized groups, women, etc.) and aim to improve equity

  • Collaborating and coordinate with other stakeholders

  • Incorporating nutrition education into community programs (incl. health and hygiene behaviors, promote adequate caring practices, especially for women of reproductive age and young children (First 1000 days!)

  • Promoting diversity production and increase production of nutrient-rich foods

  • Providing training to communities to improve Post-Harvest Management (processing, storage, preservation)

  • Ensure that the LANN communities are part of the VSLA groups.

  • Any other assigned task by the Project Manager

 

Desirable Qualification, skills, and competencies

  • Diploma in the related topics

  • Good communication and report writing skills and working knowledge of English

  • Coordination and organizational skills

  • Professional experience and background in WASH; experience in WASH Self Supply and Sanitation Marketing is an added value

  • Professional experience in implementing LANN or LANN related project

  • A high level of resilience and readiness to travel and work in remote areas

  • Ability to be proactive and work independently

Job Objective(S):

Based in Mattru Jong, The Security Guard / Office Caretaker will be responsible to provide security services for the safety and cleanliness of office premises and the residences.

 

Reporting to:

Project Manager

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for driving and maintaining the WaSAP Company vehicle in good condition.

  • Supports the logistic department with the transport of material and staff during official duty trips.

  • Must be comfortable as a proactive member of the team, seek to identify and communicate potential problems and propose solutions to the management as far as motor vehicles and other assets are concerned.

  • Drive WaSAP Company vehicle in order to transport staff and goods for project purposes in a responsible manner according to Sierra Leone traffic laws.

  • Maintain the vehicle assigned in a good condition. This always includes cleaning the vehicle and keeping it ready for travel, servicing, licensing registration, insurance, fuel & engine oil, water, and tyres checked.

  • Informing logistics officer immediately in case of mechanical problems and advices on action to be taken.

  • Supervises closely and assist any repair, maintenance or services done to the vehicle by WaSAP mechanics.

  •  Report any incident/problem to the office or Logistics officer immediately.

  • Follow WaSAP regulations for transport. These include:

    • Non-unauthorized passengers on board the vehicle

    • No weapons in the vehicle

    • No private business to be under taken with the vehicle

    • No alcohol before or during driving and working hours

    • Speed limit for driving within town is 40km/h and 80km/h on the highway outside town.

    • Keep all items (tools for the vehicle, first aid boxes, etc) in a good condition.

  • Complete the logbook before and after every journey (km, input of fuel, services, and signature) and filling in monthly vehicle cards. Ensure that fuel consumption is normal.

  • Assist in delivery of materials or goods needed by WaSAP to other project locations (in cooperation with logistics) – has to keep clear records, following the WaSAP guidelines for logistics and procurement.

  • Assist in clearing goods and items for WaSAP from customs or other official institutions; responsible for reception of goods delivered from other locations by road (including off- loading trucks & vehicles).

  • Follow the security guidelines when on duty and adhere to the safety and security policy of WaSAP

  • Assist in any other duties assigned by the direct supervisor or overall supervisor

 

Desirable Qualification, skills, and competencies

  • Previous working experience in a similar position is desired.

  • Must be prepared to spend much time in remote areas with limited facilities.

  • Ability to work under pressure; Flexibility in terms of working hours and working locations.

  • Valid Sierra Leone Driving License.

  • Excellent knowledge of driving rules and regulations.

  • Good knowledge of Sierra Leonean places, roads and road conditions.

  • Safe driving record and at least 3 years of experience driving on and off road in difficult and unusual road conditions.

  • Excellent knowledge of vehicle operation and ability to undertake basic maintenance and running repairs if in remote locations.

  • Primary education certificate, Secondary School certificate or its equivalent an asset.

  • Creative, flexible and capable of working in a fast-moving environment

  • Team player, able to work in a multi-cultural environment

Specific Roles

  • Be available at all times to drive AWC vehicles when required

POSITION: LEAD DRILLER

LOCATION: Moyamba and Western Rural

POSITION START DATE: URGENT/APRIL 2021

Purpose of Position

Locating, drilling and tapping into clean water sources in rural areas where there are no water systems and fresh water is required.

Major Responsibilities

• Keep log of drilling operations, take drill core samples every 2- 3m of depth, estimate potential yield while drilling, take TDS measurement of water at every aquifer, and develop borehole casing profile;
• Verify depths and alignments of boring positions;
• Complete the wells in accordance to LWI minimum standards and submit drill reports in time;
• Take water samples for full chemical and biological analysis as required;
• Rehabilitate boreholes and water systems as required;
• Conduct regular service checks on the drilling equipment for optimal performance;
• Monitor drilling equipment during operations, check gauges grease fitting, fluid levels, circulation and listen to equipment so as to assess drilling conditions and determine need to adjust drilling or alter equipment;
• Supervise drilling operations and rig performance in case of absence of the head driller;
• Carry out safety checks on the drilling equipment, tools and crew daily before commencement of drilling operations;
• Keep accurate running inventory of drilling supplies;
• Responsible and accountable for funds provided for expenses while in the field;
• Produce and implement maintenance and service schedule of drill rig, compressor and vehicles and handle repairs on drilling equipment when they occur;
• Drive the support truck to and from points of operation;

Qualifications/Experience

 Certificate or diploma qualification in Mechanics will be added advantage;
