Concern Worldwide is a nongovernmental, international, humanitarian organisation dedicated to the reduction of suffering and working towards the ultimate elimination of extreme poverty in the world’s poorest countries. In Sierra Leone Concern Worldwide programmes focus on health, education and livelihood improvements in the framework of addressing challenges in relation to lack of (or low return on) assets, inequality and risk and vulnerability. Concern Worldwide has been operational in Sierra Leone since 1996. Programme implementation is based in three areas, namely Tonkolili District, Port Loko District and Urban and peri-urban areas in Freetown and the surrounding the Western Area.

On this note, Concern would like to invite well experienced and professional applicants for the under mentioned replacement role:

JOB TITLE: Finance Clerk
REPORTS TO: Cashier
DIRECT REPORTS: Nil
DUTY STATION: Freetown
JOB SUMMARY: The Finance Clerk supports the Finance Team in their respective tasks and is responsible for ensuring accurate documentation records are maintained.




MAJOR ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
Books and Records

Carry out a preliminary review of payment requests to ensure there is complete and consistent supporting documentation, that all calculations are correct, that all stages of the expenditure have been appropriately authorized an that the correct budget codes are being utilized.
Prepare cashbook vouchers for each payment.
Maintain the various cashbook folders, ensuring that every payment has all of the appropriate documentation (including the supplier’s receipt) before being filed.
Enter the payments into the MGP cashbooks when the Assistant Finance Officer is on leave or travel to field offices.
Prepare Withholding Tax schedules and payments on a timely basis.
Review and file the Magburaka & Port Loko documentation when sent to Freetown on a monthly basis. Sign the documentation as ‘checked’ and report any errors or discrepancies to the Country Financial Controller (CFC) / Finance Manager.
Follow-up and review proper submission of monthly staff time sheets
Miscellaneous

Make NASSIT, tax and utilities payments
Maintain records of all withholding tax payments made and receipts provided to suppliers.
Carry out ad hoc or regular data entry into analysis spreadsheets.
Carry out administrative tasks for the Finance Team as required.
Travel to Magburaka and Port Loko to assist the Cashier as required.
Assist with the annual external audit and other scheduled internal or donor audits as they are scheduled.
Scan financial documents when needed for audit purpose or requested by the Donor or HQ.
Any other duties that may be determined by the Senior Finance Officer, Finance Manager or CFC.
Ensure the organizational anti-fraud policy, 4P and equality issues for maximizing better quality work and changing life of the targeted extreme poor peoples
Work as a team member of Concern Worldwide in Sierra Leone, by:

Establishing and developing effective working relationship with staff in Concern Worldwide
Participating in team decision making, planning and joint activities
Supporting other project areas in your area of expert whenever requested to do so
Adhering to Concern’s programme and other policies on physical and financial resources
RECRUITMENT REQUIREMENTS
Education
Secondary School complete. Diploma in Accounting Preferred
Job related Experience and Knowledge
No experience needed.
Knowledge and understanding of computer and Microsoft office software
Time required in Job to reach effective performance
Probation period – 4 months
Time to reach full effectiveness – 4 months
