The Role: Agriculture Project Officer will be responsible for implementing project activities in his or her designated project community. He or she will report to the Rural Development Programme Manager (RDPM). He or she will work in collaboration with Government and local partners and stakeholders; and with all other SCI staff from other departments and offices. In the event of a major humanitarian emergency, the role holder will be expected to work outside the normal role profile and be able to vary working hours accordingly. He/she will be based in the project implementation communities and will work with the community to support the agricultural development of the farmers participating in the project. The project is been funded by Sierra Rutile Limited – International Finance Corporation (SRL-IFC) Advisory Program to implement an agricultural project under the SRL-IFC Advisory Program under a consultancy contract. The project will run for approximately one year in six villages (Gangama, Lungi, Junctiola, Higima, Matagelema, Saahun) within the Bonthe & Moyamba Districts. Its overall objective is to improve the livelihoods of at least 150 households through improved agriculture and household practices; and to build the capacity of at least 35 lead farmers to serve as peer facilitators, sharing share knowledge of improved technical practices with their peers.

QUALIFICATIONS:
- Certificate, Diploma or HDN in Agric. Education with least 2 years of relevant experience in Agricultural extension services or rural development
EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS
- Experience implementing community development projects or programmes, especially in rural communities, with an agricultural component.
- Good written and spoken English; including documentation and report-writing skills.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills; able to engage positively with people at all levels.
- Good training/facilitation skills.
- Experience in working with NGOs, local Civil Society Organisations, etc., is an added advantage.
- Good skills in computer e.g. MS Word, MS Power Point and Excel.
- Experience in engaging with government, with community stakeholders and with civil society.
- Experience developing activity budgets.
- Willingness to promote gender equality and inclusion.
- Ability to be self-sufficient and resourceful, proactive in identifying and addressing challenges, yet consulting and asking for assistance as needed/relevant.
- Ability and willingness to be based in project communities
- Possesses a valid motor bike riders’ licence or is willing to learn.
- Willing to commit to Save the Children’s aims, values and principles
CONTRACT LENGTH: 12 Months
