Position:Social Worker

Number of vacancies: 3

Duty Station: Western Area District – Eastern Freetown

Department: Project

Role specifications:

  1. To work directly under the supervision of AVSILocal Coordinators;
  2. To assess vulnerable situation in targeted schools and communities;
  3. To follow up vulnerable cases in the school and within their homes, assessing children’s well-being and CP issues;
  4. To monitor school attendance;
  5. To select beneficiaries for project activities according to vulnerability factors;
  6. To assist Local coordinatorsand staff in updating files and databases;
  7. To develop and implement recreational activities in the selected schools involving in particular the most vulnerable children selected schools;
  8. To implement educational trainings courses in targeted schools;
  9. To attend and collaborates to the planning and evaluation meetings;
  10. To bring professional and constructive contributions to the periodic meetings of experience sharing;
  11. To contribute to project monitoring;
  12. To develop donor reports;
  13. To develop communication to private sponsors;
  14. To follow and accompanies the collaboration with school’s teachers and heads.

Required skills:

  • Good oral and written communication skills;
  • Proactive and problem-solving skills;
  • Detail oriented and works with a high degree of accuracy;
  • Highly organized and flexible;
  • Ability to multitask and meet changing deadlines;
  • Strong Team building
  • Must be self-directed and able to complete projects tasks with limited supervision;
  • Maintains information confidentiality;
  • Good computer skills are compulsory;
  • Held a driving license and ability to drive bikes, will be an added advantage.

Required qualifications:

  • 2 years or more related experience in social projects in a reputable and well establish institution or organization, preferably in NGO;
  • Associates Degree or higher from a recognized university OR its equivalent, in field of Social Work, development, sociology and other related fields;
  • Preferably at least 2 years of direct working experience with children and/or families.

With regards to the above and in the framework of the project “Boosting Market Development for Improved and clean Cookstove (ICS)” – energy and clean cooking sector – funded by EnDev, AVSI is currently seeking to recruit a:

Position: Project Coordinator – ICS Marketing and Distribution Coordinator

Scope of the position: The Project coordinators will be responsible to coordinate and implement the EnDev project aiming at boosting the market development for ICS.

Type of employment: Full time (40 hours per week)– National contract

Duty Station: Bo – with periodic visit to project sites

Department: Project

Report to: Project Manager and Program Coordinator

Summary of the key responsibilities:

  • Organize and manage sales and marketing activities for improved cookstoves, ensuring timely and effective delivery for the achievement of expected outputs.
  • Coordinate and oversee staff and contractors involved in the implementation of trainings, and capacity building and sensitization activities addressed to ICS producers, sellers and communities;
  • Ensure follow up to beneficiaries to monitor project progresses and redefine if needed strategies and activities.
  • Strengthen the skills of producers and sellers in drawing up business plans;

 

  • Develop and facilitate training modules on business plans, financial education and leadership for vendors and producers;
  • Coordinate the radio programmes and activities of partner organisations for the dissemination of improved cook stoves;
  • Facilitate context analysis, baseline studies, monitoring and evaluation of activities to identify current situations, future impacts, and guide implementation
  • Develop marketing and data collection tools;
  • Reporting and proposing budgets for marketing and distribution of improved cookstoves;
  • Facilitate the creation of sales outlets and supervise and manage the performance of field agents;
  • Plan and organize road shows and mobilisation of associations and communities to adopt improved stoves;
  • Prepare and submit progress reports detailing activities undertaken, tasks (including monitoring plans) to be undertaken and indicators of performance and prepares progress reports for work implementation;
  • Perform any other duties that may be assigned to support the achievement of organizational goals.

 

Required qualifications:

  • Advanced Degree from a recognized university OR its equivalent, in related fields.
  • A minimum of 5 years of professional experience in management, coordination of development project in Sierra Leone.
  • Demonstrated experience in energy, clean cooking and marketing sectors.
  • Sound experience in organizing training, marketing and distribution activities, workshops, sensitization campaigns
  • Knowledge of EnDev grant management principles and procedures (preferred)

 

Skills:

  • Excellent communication skills (both oral and written);
  • Excellent organizational skills;
  • Detail-oriented and works with a high degree of accuracy.
  • Highly organized and flexible.
  • Strong team-building.
  • Strong logical reasoning, critical thinking and problem solving;

  • Participate in coordination meeting with stakeholders to discuss work progress and develops appropriate strategies to ensure the attainment of project objectives and foster enabling environment for ICS market development;
  • Prepare and submit progress reports detailing activities undertaken, tasks (including monitoring plans) to be undertaken and indicators of performance and prepares progress reports for work implementation;
  • Perform any other duties that may be assigned to support the achievement of organizational goals.

 

Required qualifications:
