Jhpiego Corporation has been providing technical support to the Ministries of Health in partner countriesΒ across the globe for the past 40 years in a variety of technical areas including cervical cancer treatmentΒ and prevention, community health, HIV and AIDS, maternal and newborn health, health workforceΒ capacity development (both pre-service and in-service), family planning, malaria, and IPC/WASH.
Position: Senior Finance Officer (1 Position)Β Β
Reports To: Finance and Operations DirectorΒ Β
Job Location: Freetown, Sierra LeoneΒ Β
Duration: 12 MonthsΒ Β
Duties and Responsibilities:Β Β
βΒ Provide guidance to the program teams regarding the financial requirements of the projects andΒ Β office operations.
βΒ Implements and oversees a detailed financial reporting and reimbursement process in accordanceΒ Β with Jhpiegoβs established financial system.
βΒ Prepares the monthly financial report by using adapted finance software (QuickBooks) andΒ Β ensures accuracy and timeliness
βΒ Uses various software applications such as spreadsheets, relational databases, statistical packages,Β Β and graphic packages to assemble, analyze, and format data and/or reports
βΒ Ensures financial management systems provide accurate, current, and complete disclosure ofΒ Β financial transactions
βΒ Support the Finance Manager in the financial reporting process to donors
βΒ Ensure that required financial controls and cost-performance monitoring mechanisms are in placeΒ Β and adhered to: prevents over or under-expenditure of budgets, ensures proper safeguards ofΒ Β funds, and ensures compliance with established USG and Jhpiegoβs global financial, accounting,Β Β and administrative procedures.
βΒ Regularly review accounting transactions to ensure costs are allowable and reasonable RegularlyΒ Β review QBE: review of balance sheet, aging analysis, detailed GL, expenditure by ION, advanceΒ Β balance
βΒ Preforms other projects related activities as assigned by the supervisor or by Jhpiego managementΒ Β βΒ Thorough understanding of the monthly reporting circle
βΒ Monthly reconciliation of the receivables and payables
βΒ Demonstrated experience of at least 2 yearsβ experience in staff supervisionΒ Β βΒ Advanced knowledge of QBE is required
βΒ A certification in QBE is a plus
Required Qualifications, Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:Β Β
βΒ Degree in Accounting, Finance or its recognized equivalent
βΒ An MBA in Accounting or at level 2 of a professional qualification (CPA, ACCA or recognizedΒ Β equivalent) isΒ highly desired.Β
βΒ 5+ years relevant experience in finance and accounting.
βΒ Knowledge of institutional donors (e.g. USAID) regulations, procedures and requirements a plus.Β Β βΒ Be of high integrity and have a sense of confidentiality
βΒ Be willing to take on extra responsibilities, sometimes working overtime, in order to achieve theΒ Β goals/objectives set by the organization

Job Overview:Β Β
Supports the organizationβs administrative function.
Duties and Responsibilities:Β Β
βΒ Coordinates all travel arrangements for staff and guests i.e. booking of flights and tickets, airportΒ pick up, hotel accommodation, etc.
βΒ Manages the companyβs vehicles
βΒ Maintains office equipment and premises
βΒ Maintains the assets register
βΒ Ensures assets and inventories are well maintained and annual physical verifications areΒ undertaken
βΒ Works with the procurement team in the purchase of office supplies and stationeryΒ Β βΒ Makes arrangement for phone credits for all staff
βΒ Ensures the payment of utilities
βΒ Coordinates work and resident permits for expatriate team members
βΒ Ensures adequate and organized record-keeping of project activities
βΒ Manages petty cash
Other Duties:Β
βΒ Performs any other duties that may be assigned from time to time.
Required Competencies:Β Β
Educational/Academic Qualifications:Β (state min entry level qualification)
βΒ A good first degree in Business Administration or its equivalent.
βΒ Experience in developing and implementing administrative systems
βΒ Knowledge and experience of office procedures and processes
βΒ Five (5) years of post-qualification experience
βΒ Good planning and organizational skills
βΒ Good oral and written communication skills
βΒ Ability to work independently and as a member of a team
βΒ Supervisory skills
βΒ Knowledge and experience in petty cash management
