International Non-governmental organization, Action Against Hunger has been working to fight undernutrition and support communities affected by crisis across the globe for almost 40 years and across nearly 50 countries. Action Against Hunger established its presence in both Liberia and Sierra Leone in 1991 during the Civil War and since then has been operational in the two countries by implementing various humanitarian and development programs related to health, nutrition, food security/livelihoods and advocacy geared towards the reduction of the prevalence rates of under-nutrition in both countries.





Since January 2018, the two countries have been clustered and now operating under a single management structure. The coordination office is based in Freetown, Sierra Leone overseeing the operations in Moyamba Field Office and Liberia Country Office.
Action Against Hunger is recruiting a suitably qualified Sierra Leonean as a Head of Department Advocacy, Communications and Gender, to be responsible responsible for the design, development, implementation, monitoring and reporting in line with the mission strategy and the ACF international strategic plan 3. The position holder is among the senior management team of the mission and works to ensure Action Against Hunger strategic positioning through effective advocacy and communications across its operations.

KEY ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Develop and implement the mission's advocacy strategy in both Sierra Leone and Liberia
- Coordinate the development of the mission's gender analysis and ensure gender mainstreaming in programs
- To strengthen the institutional communication of the mission, while ensuring internal and external communication that takes into account the principles of visibility of Action Contre la Faim's donors.
- External Representation
- Contribute to Action Against Hunger advocacy expertise at the global level





QUALIFICATIONS
- Master’s Degree in the relevant field
- 7 years of experience in Advocacy work in humanitarian setting.
- Proven experience in humanitarian advocacy work, communications and advanced training in Gender is required
- Experience working with international NGO’s

Required Competencies and Skills:
- Good relational qualities and diplomacy
- Good communication and representation skills
- Organizational qualities
- Good knowledge of English (read, written, spoken)
- Computer literate in Word, Excel and Outlook and Microsoft office package

WORK CONDITIONS
STARTING DATE: As soon as possible
DURATION OF CONTRACT: 12 months Sierra Leonean contract (Renewable)
LOCATION: Freetown, with frequent travels to the field





REMUNERATION:
Monthly Basic Salary : Very Attractive
