Concern Worldwide is recruiting for a Security Guard in Sierra Leone.

Concern Worldwide is Ireland's largest aid and humanitarian agency. Since its foundation 50 years ago it has worked in 50 countries. According to its latest annual report, Concern helped 28.6 million of the world's poorest and most vulnerable people in 2019, while responding to 82 emergencies in 24 countries.

Concern Worldwide is a nongovernmental, international, humanitarian organisation dedicated to the reduction of suffering and  working towards the ultimate elimination of extreme poverty in the world’s poorest countries. In Sierra Leone Concern Worldwide programmes focus on health, education and livelihood improvements in the framework of addressing challenges in relation to lack of (or low return on) assets, inequality and risk and vulnerability. Concern Worldwide has been operational in Sierra Leone since 1996. Programme implementation is based in two areas, namely Tonkolili District and urban and peri-urban areas in Freetown and the surrounding the Western Area.

POSITION: Security Guard

Duration of Employment: One Year with posibility of extension
Duty Station: Freetown
Number of post: 1 (one)

JOB PURPOSE

To render Office Security Services to Concern Head Office, making sure that all concern properties are well protected according to Concern procedures.

SPECIFIC ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Duties and Responsibilities

Security Issues (Concern Head Office and properties)

Daily guarding of Office, compound and properties
Making sure that property belonging to concern do not pass through the gate without proper authorisation  Screening and directing of visitors to the office
Keeping records of visitors/vehicles in log book
Opening of the gate for the incoming and out-going vehicles
Log-in and log-out of Concern vehicles on all official trips
Ensure daily security checks and patrols are conducted
Ensure security phone is charged at all times and inform your Supervisor of any security related issues in your shift promptly

Other Duties

Making sure the security post is clean and tidy at all times
Record electricity meter reading at beginning and end of shift
Always monitor the flow of water on the days GUMA is supplying and ensure all tanks are getting water

Receiving/sending messages to staff
Assisting in any tasks that you may be called upon to undertake by your line Manger

  • To provide equality, especially gender, within the organisation and across all programmes, in line with Concern’s Equality Policy and Practises of targeting marginalised and most vulnerable groups, by analysing, planning and following up on relevant interventions, on a regular systematic basis
  • To promote accountability and ensure compliance with the requirements of Concern’s Programme Participants Protection Policy, Anti-Fraud Policy and Humanitarian Accountability Partnership (HAP) standards including the complaint and response mechanism (CRM) to ensure maximum protection of programme participants and efficient and transparent use of Concern’s resources.
  • To promote and protect the reputation of Concern in external settings, ensuring that the organisation’s experience and expertise is well communicated and consistently presented and that we are looked to as a professional organisation, guided by organisation policies and Concern’s Code of Conduct.
  • Any other duties as may be detailed from time to time

Supervision and Guidance

  • Report to and receive instructions from the Administrative Officer

Education, Qualifications & Experience Required  Secondary School Up to SSS(3).

  • At least 1 year working experience as a security Guard.

Desirable:

  • Training on security  management

Safeguarding at Concern- Code of Conduct and its Associated Policies
