Job Vacancy at Easy Solar – Head of Supply Chain
About the Role
An exciting opportunity to build and run all aspects of an end-to-end supply chain for a fast-growing, multi-country business in West Africa. The role will require building people, processes, and system capabilities in a challenging, but quickly developing, environment and has the potential to be one of the largest supply chain roles in the sub-region. Based in Freetown, Sierra Leone, the ideal candidate will have a very strong supply chain background, a genuine interest in working for a social enterprise that combines social impact and financial performance, and an exceptional ability to lead, train and motivate a multi-country supply chain team. Working closely with Sales, Technology, Finance, and other teams, the successful candidate will directly take part in the company’s effort to transform last-mile distribution in West Africa.
General Duties and Responsibilities
- Team Management - Providing leadership, direction and management of the operations, logistics and after-sales teams in Sierra Leone and Liberia
- Supply Chain - Creating and managing the policies, procedures, systems and controls for effective supply chain operations across the company and its geographies
- Inventory Management - Overseeing inventory controls and materials accuracy, create sound security policies and procedures consistent with good accounting and distribution practices
- Planning - Establishing Demand, Supply and S&OP processes in the business
- Logistics - Overseeing the management of logistics operations including fleet management, transportation and distribution systems and procedures to ensure timely, efficient and economical delivery of products
- Procurement - Overseeing the management of end-to-end purchasing strategies & processes that capitalize on savings and risk mitigation opportunities for the business
- After-Sales - Manage the repair and maintenance of solar kits across the company and ensure we are surpassing our customers’ expectations on a regular basis
Required Qualifications
Required Education & Experience
- Bsc/Msc in Supply Chain or Engineering related field is required
- Minimum of 7 years’ supply chain experience related to logistics, inventory management, ideally having worked for a technology / FMCG company
- Experience defining and driving a logistics and distribution strategy, including metric definition and alternative testing methodologies are extremely important
- Demonstrating a sense of urgency is essential as this position requires a hands-on, problem solving, a multitasking team member who has a strong understanding of logistics, customer service, quality, and supply chain management
- Ability to clearly communicate and present status, action, recommendations, and other technical information at all levels
- Ability to build strong relationships with, and influence suppliers, logistics and sales personnel.
- Hold a high level of proficiency in managing last-mile logistics in regions with poor infrastructure, with expertise in African geographies preferable
- Technical knowledge of solar modules, batteries, energy storage and LEDs is a plus
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions
- Experience in implementing health, safety, environmental and quality systems
- High integrity, a strong worth ethic, and be a self-starter as well as having the ability to juggle multiple projects
- Demonstrated ability to engage and negotiate with vendors to add value to a business
- Demonstrated ability to understand business goals and recommend new approaches, policies, and procedures to effect continual improvements in business objectives
