Designation Requirements Description / tasks
Senior TVET Officer (STO)
- University degree in social sciences, socioeconomic sciences, education, or related fields.
- Extensive experience with the TVET sector in Sierra Leone
- Proven track record of change achieved in Sierra Leone’s TVET sector
- Well established contacts to relevant ministries
- Technical management experience of employees
- Comprehensive knowledge of effective methods for rapid skills development, development of competence-based training, policy support (TVET NQF).
- Successful experience in involving the private sector in the public education system.
- Comprehensive understanding of how to manage Public Private Partnerships (PPP) in the education sector.
- Committed and goal-oriented person.
- Good knowledge of state-of-the-art electronic data processing
- At least 7 years of relevant professional experience
- Willingness and ability to work in remote areas of Sierra Leone
The Officer will report directly to the International TVET Advisor and will be responsible for coordinating and implementing the activities of the TVET Department. The technical management team is approximately 10 people. Some of the team members are also stationed in the implementation areas.
Duty station is Freetown.
In addition to the central task of policy advice on the creation of a vocational National Qualification Framework, the implementation and monitoring of large-volume further training courses for young people in the areas of life skills, business skills and trade skills is one of the tasks. Furthermore, the supervision of the construction and outfitting of vocational schools are part of the job. Special attention is paid to the successful and sustainable integration of private industry into the country’s training landscape. A strong focus is placed on cooperation with the agricultural, tourism, trade and transport sectors, among others. One approach will be to bring training and apprentices into companies (dual system) and to strengthen the quality of in-service training.
