Key Purpose
Responsible for managing and ensuring that GESL’s Strategic Plan is implemented, and new strategies developed in line with GESL's overall strategy and policy objectives, as well as effective management of all GESL project and activities in Sierra Leone.
Duties
Strategy
To, in conjunction with the ED, develop and implement strategic direction of SL activities.
Provide substantive advice to the ED on the direction of SL strategy and programme/project planning.
Developing short- and long-range financial plans and strategies to ensure the solid capitalization of GESL in keeping best practices in our work.
Engaging with GESL Board of Directors to meet GESLs current and future goals attending board meetings and providing general organizational updates.
Developing and executing new strategies for sharing GESLs methodology and impact.
Relationship Development and Resource Mobilisation
Build relations, cultivate, and manage partnerships and participate in critical meetings and events.
Search for funding opportunities for the organization.
Support GESL’s planning for the inception of its income generating model.
Creating and maintaining a robust communications strategy.
Strengthening GESLs fundraising strategy with current institutional and individual donor support base.
Planning and Reporting
Finalize annual work plan and budget.
Finalize donor reports and establish reporting accountability framework to ensure that donors are duly informed on a timely basis.
Prepare weekly/monthly work plan and ensure that agreed work plan is properly executed, and timely reviewed for progress towards projects development objectives.
Team Management
Design and coordinate with the Programme Coordinator in implementing programmes for both the girls and parents in the organization and provide full oversight and monitoring responsibilities to ensure the efficient delivery of all activities.
Education and Experience
Master’s Degree or Equivalent in development related disciplines.
A project/ programme management certification would be an added advantage.
At least 5 years of progressively responsible development experience that combines strategic and managerial leadership, with experience in leading a team.
Familiarity with girls’ leadership work in the West Africa sub region is a plus.
Field based experience in Sierra Leone.
Qualities and Skills
Excellent programme formulation, implementation, monitoring and evaluation skills.
Ability to develop plans, budgets and deliver on them.
Ability to advocate and interact with partners and decision makers.
Excellent knowledge of gender equality and women’s empowerment.
Ability to envision and lead strategic direction with excellent networking skills.
Ability to identify and analyse trends, opportunities, and threats to fundraising and develop strategies.
