Role purpose

We wish to appoint a Clinical Research Fellow who will support the final phase of the KCL NIHR GHR Group on Stroke in Sierra Leone (SISLE). The Fellow will be based in Freetown, Sierra Leone. She/he will work as part of a team including physicians, therapists and other research associates. The postholder will work with international and local stakeholders in ensuring the successful closure of the SISLE programme, optimising the impact of SISLE on the Sierra Leonean health system. Responsibilities include data management and academic writing. Clinical training and experience in Global Health Research essential.

Role profile

 

Objectives of the post
To be the in-country lead for the closure of Stroke in Sierra Leone register.
To contribute to the reporting, publishing, dissemination and sustainability opportunities of the programme of research.
To contribute to the organisation of training activities

Research Administration
Oversee closure of the Stroke in Sierra Leone project.
Liaise with SISLE Data Manager and other staff in finalising register data collection and addressing data queries.





Communication & networking
Collaborate with academic colleagues in the SISLE Group, wider NIHR GH Groups and Units on areas of shared research interest
Contribute to the write-up the results of the project in a format suitable for scientific publication
Facilitate communication with colleagues both within and outside Kings and with research participants
Participate in networks and events within the institution or externally, in order to build relationships and contacts to facilitate future exchanges of information
Contribute to activities aimed at sustaining any improvement in services

Decision making, planning & problem solving
Be involved in strategizing and implementing sustainability plans.
Contribute to collaborative decision making with colleagues in the areas of research in which they work

Service delivery
Maintain regular contact with collaborators and the SISLE Stroke Survivors Group.

Analysis & research
Collate information and data for internal and external reports
Analyse and interpret qualitative research data and draw conclusions on the outcomes
Prepare and contribute to the preparation of manuscripts for publication in peer-reviewed journals.

Team work & learning support
Contribute to clinical training on stroke for the Multi-Disciplinary Team.
