Plan International Sierra Leone is seeking to recruit top-notch professional to fulfil the position of Gender Transformative Animator based in Moyamba to deliver the tasks outlined below: SUMMARY OF THE POSITION
To coordinate gender transformative community development activities in programmes and sponsorship; supervise and monitor the activities of community volunteers and other project partners within the District/ chiefdoms; and also contribute to Plan becoming a recognized voice for child rights especially equality for girls.
DIMENSIONS OF ROLE
Facilitates the preparation of chiefdom annual plans and agreement in line with Plan International Sierra Leone's Country Strategy:
- Support the PIIA in mobilizing local/external resources to implement the PIIA annual Plans;
- Participate in budget preparation (both Plan and partners and provide assistance to implement them to achieve program objectives);
- Engage the partners within the Chiefdom to actively participate and support community-led interventions and prepares reports;
- Participate in PU level Baseline activities to capture current situation and MER to assess effects/impacts made and feed into programming;
- Prepare and submit monthly and quarterly work plans, case stories and progress reports detailing tasks (including monitoring plans)
- Facilitate the preparation of gender transformative projects (POs) and manage them to meet set objectives;
- Supervise and monitor activities of all implementing and strategic partner Organizations in the district/chiefdom to ensure their services lead to value for money.
- Facilitate the Organization of participatory Annual community review to guide program implementation.
- Develop and maintains good professional relations with traditional and government bodies at the district /Chiefdom level so as to contribute to influencing child rights policy at national.
- Ensure gender is mainstreamed into all section development related program activities in the district/chiefdom and maintains gender sensitivity towards staff and plan associates;
- Ensure Child protection is mainstreamed into all community development related program activities in the district/chiefdom to meet Plan goals;
- Ensure Disaster Risk Reduction (DRR) is well integrated in all community development program activities to ensure child protection in the district/chiefdom, especially during emergencies; Grants:
- Support the Business Development Manager with innovative and creative ideas in the development of concept Notes and proposals for the development of the District/Chiefdom
- Lead/support the preparation of projects and management reports for timely submission;
- Provide Support to the implementation of other projects located in assign areas to ensure quality implementation, reporting and accountability.
Sponsorship:
Supervise the production of sponsorship communication items in communities within the Chiefdom by:
- Mobilizing sponsored Children (SC) and family for SC introduction and updates;
- Support the dispatching of sponsorship items to sponsored Children (SC) and families through volunteers;
- Supporting the sponsorship volunteers in the sharing of all sponsorship information and documents to sponsored children and family.
- Conducting regular visits to SC/family during community/project visit and complete the home visit form;
- Providing inputs in the preparation of area updates and area overview of PU.
- Randomly proof-reading sponsorship communication items within the district/chiefdom and inform PIIAM of any CP issues.
- Supporting sponsor visit at the district/chiefdom;
- Collaborating with the district/chiefdom to identify and implement at least one project per year in a sponsorship community, based on the assigned case-load
TECHNICAL EXPERTISE, SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE
Essential
- S/He must have at least a first degree in Social Science, or developments studies;
- A minimum of 2 years post qualification experience preferably in an INGO;
- Experience in project management and community Led approaches is a must;
- Previous knowledge of managing similar projects. Skills:
- Excellent written and spoken English skills.
- Innovative and field oriented with good communication skills.
- Focused and result oriented.
- Skill in giving and receiving feedback.
- Computer literate.
- He/she must be able to communicate to a fairly diverse audience.
- Analytical and objective, with good interpersonal and problem-solving skills.
- Skills in supporting strategic planning and resourcing requirement.
- Communication - excellent negotiation and influencing skills in multi-cultural context.
Desirable
- Understands Plan's work, and implements processes and practices that support achievement of organisational objectives
- Knowledge of local dialects (E.g. Mende, Temne, Krio, etc.)
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite, including Word, PPT, Excel and Outlook

Ensures that Plan International's global policies for Child Protection (CPP) and Gender Equality and Inclusion (GEI) are fully embedded in accordance with the principles and requirements of the policy including relevant Implementation Standards and Guidelines as applicable to their area of responsibility. This includes, but is not limited to, ensuring staff and associates are aware of and understand their responsibilities under these policies and Plan International's Code of Conduct (CoC), their relevance to their area of work, and that concerns are reported and managed in accordance with the appropriate procedures.
