PSI and its local affiliates manage malaria control programs in 32 countries and are world leaders in malaria control implementation—delivering 25 million treated mosquito nets and almost 16 million quality-assured ACTs for confirmed malaria cases in 2016. PSI also supports national Ministries of Health to scale up malaria diagnosis in the public and private sector and to improve tracking of malaria patients through surveillance and health information systems using DHIS2 software.
In 2018, PSI began implementing the global US President’s Malaria Initiative Impact Malaria project, with the goal of working with national governments to scale up best practices and innovations in malaria case management, control of malaria in pregnancy, and the introduction of other malaria drug-based approaches. In Sierra Leone, PSI is seeking qualified, dynamic and innovation-driven candidates for multiple positions with the Impact Malaria (IM) project. Job Title: Driver
Based in Freetown, Sierra Leone
Reports to Administration Officer
SUMMARY
The Driver is a full-time position based in Freetown, with frequent travels in the provinces/Districts in Sierra Leone. The Driver will work with all project staff and partners, as well as short-term consultants. The Driver is responsible for transporting of staff and vehicle maintenance. The Driver will report to the Administration Officer.
YOUR CONTRIBUTION
- Provide transportation and logistics services for Program activities in all implementing PSI geographic areas including Freetown and the fourteen districts in Sierra Leone.
- Ensure safety of all PSI Staff, Partners, Consultants and any other authorized person from PSI and property while providing transportation services.
- Always maintain cleanliness of assigned vehicle.
- Perform daily inspections of vehicles and maintain accurate vehicle logs to record fuel consumption, mileage, repairs and other reports as required.
- Inform the Administration Officer, in writing, in a timely manner of all accidents, breakdowns, mechanical failures, faulty equipment or suspected defective or malfunctioning equipment,
- Be capable of providing minor mechanical services to the vehicle when outside of Freetown.
- To strictly adhere to organizational and donor policies and procedures and be capable of informing other staff of policies.
- regulations (seatbelt usage, licensing, procedures to report accidents);
- Ensure vehicles are used for project purposes only and any irregularities or misuse is reported.
- To strictly maintain professionalism and confidentiality during working hours.
- Assist Program staff with trainings and workshops; and
- Perform any other duties as assigned by supervisor.
- To strictly follow Sierra Leone Road Traffic laws in terms of transportation
WHAT ARE WE LOOKING FOR?
- A current and valid driving license and understanding driving laws in Sierra Leone (as evidenced by references);
- Knowledge of basic auto repair/mechanics.
- Good communication skills.
- Ability to communicate in English, and Krio.
- At least 3 years’ experience working as a full-time employee for a USAID/UKAID/NGO supported program.

- Ability to work under pressure and with minimal supervision.
- Ability to work in a multi-cultural environment.
- Experience of USAID management and policies will be an added advantage.
