Job Vacancy at Save the Children – Green Climate Fund Design Project Manager
THE ROLE:
Save the Children is recruiting for an experienced Green Climate Fund (GCF) Design Project Manager that will lead in facilitating, and managing all activities associated with commissioning and managing the design phase of Save the Children Sierra Leone’s Green Climate Fund (GCF) project proposal.
The job holder will collaborate with Programme Development and Quality, MEAL and Operations teams to provide strategic input and comprehensive oversight on the full life cycle of the GCF design phase – including coordination of consultants, pre-feasibility assessment, field work, feasibility assessment and facilitation of approvals for final products. The role may encompass planning, design, analysis, reporting, distribution and member relationship management.
The post holder will support in building systems and staff capacity to ensure that Sierra Leone’s deliverables for the design phase of our Green Climate Fund project are of high quality and meet Save the Children International (SCI) and donor timelines and guidance.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelor's degree in environmental science, or other science-related field, such as biology, chemistry, physics, geosciences, or engineering. Post graduate diploma will be an added opportunity
EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS
Essential
A minimum of 3-4 years’ experience in climate change activities with a Bachelor's degree in environmental science, or other science-related field, such as biology, chemistry, physics, geosciences, or engineering. Post graduate diploma will be an added opportunity.
A minimum of 8 years of project management in development contexts, preferably with solid experience with Save the Children internal processes and focus areas.
Preference for experience in research and monitoring and evaluation methodology and analysis (qualitative, quantitative, participatory) including design of systems and tools, data analysis and report writing.
Experience in managing multiple stakeholders (Government, partners, consultants, members, CO) effectively to successful achieve project goals and deliverables.
Experience in managing relationships with high-value consultants, including holding external consultants to account in planning and execution of deliverables to a high quality.
Experience in strategic thinking and planning skills, ability to set priorities, prepare manageable plans and to evaluate progress.
Excellent written and oral communication skills including proven success in ability to present ideas and concepts effectively and persuasively.
Excellent analytical and project management skills including demonstrated ability to set and manage priorities and multiple tasks. Outcomes and deadlines oriented.
Excellent attention to detail. Organized and process-oriented
Ability to establish and maintain conducive collegial relations and perform effectively as a member of a team.
Willingness to travel and work in remote areas, occasionally under strenuous conditions.
Highly developed cultural awareness and ability to work well in an international environment with people from diverse backgrounds and cultures.
Preferred: experience in overseeing projects with a thematic focus on livelihoods and/or climate change.
Preferred: experience in the use of data analysis software like SPSS, STATA.
