World Hope International is a Christian relief and development organization working with vulnerable and exploited communities to alleviate poverty, suffering and injustice. All employees of WHI should play a pivotal role in achieving this objective and every employee should be clear about how their own contribution can help the organization achieve its objective.
World Hope International is part of a consortium, led by Mobile Power and funded by the UK Department for International Development (DFID), to establish battery-sharing systems in off grid communities. A key aspect of World Hope International’s role is to support Mobile Power to deliver opportunities for women within the project.
JOB SUMMARY
The role of the Field Officer is to empower women and girls with a kind, compassionate, and professional approach. The Field Officer will develop relationships within specified communities where WHI is working, especially with women’s groups and community leaders. They will offer training for people in communities on gender-empowerment and business skills, using pre-existing training materials, and at times helping to write new material. The Field Officer will make referrals to appropriate support services if they identify women and girls facing abuse. They will ensure that COVID-19 information is shared.
MAJOR ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Representing WHI with women’s groups and other stakeholders with regards to gender and women’s opportunities
- Conducting trainings on various topics, such as protection policies, savings groups, and COVID-19 prevention

- Referring cases of survivors of Gender-Based Violence (GBV) to appropriate support services: to other WHI staff, other organizations, Ministry of Social Welfare, Gender, and Children’s Affairs, and/or law enforcement
- Compiling regular reports
- Regular travel, in rural areas of Sierra Leone will be a requirement of the job; - Liaising closely with the Anti-Trafficking and GBV team of World Hope International
RECRUITMENT REQUIREMENTS
1. Education
Degree or certificate in Social Work, Gender or associated field, or relevant work experience
2. Job related experience and knowledge
Experience working with a protection agency is a plus.
Knowledge of GBV issues is required.
Must have a willingness to closely follow child and vulnerable adult protection policy and procedures.
3. Time required in job to reach effective performance
