Reports to: Digital Media Producer, BBC Media Action Sierra Leone
Contract: Freelance
Salary: TBC
Duration: 1 week
Context
BBC Media Action is the international charity of the BBC that uses media and communications to tackle poverty and contribute to long-term change in developing countries. To achieve this, we partner with civil society, local media and governments to:
- Produce creative content in multi-media formats which inform and engage audiences around key development issues;
- Strengthen the media sector through building professional capacity through effective mentoring and training partnerships.
The Every Adolescent Girl Empowered and Resilient (EAGER) project is an FDCO-funded Girls’ Education Challenge (GEC) Leave No Girl Behind (LNGB) project in Sierra Leone. EAGER is implemented by the International Rescue Committee (IRC) in Sierra Leone in partnership with Concern Worldwide (CWW), Restless Development (RD) and BBC Media Action in 10 districts across Sierra Leone.
BBC Media Action is contributing towards the sustainability outcome by using Social and Behavior Change Communication (SBCC) to challenge negative attitudes and practices, including those resulting from harmful and discriminatory social and gender norms that hinder adolescent girls’ empowerment. Through radio and social media content, it hopes to address socio-cultural barriers, increase discussion and dialogue between adults and adolescent girls, and promote sustainable attitudinal and behavior change.
Job Purpose
