Position: Manager, Communications
Duty Station: Country Office (with occasional visits to provincial field offices)
Purpose:
To ensure high quality, innovative and effective organisational communication to ensure capturing, promoting, and disseminating best practices of BRAC programmes in the designated country of operation to raise visibility and strengthen organisational profile. The job holder will enhance the image of BRAC in the country through building relationships with a wide range of stakeholders while maintaining sensitivity and integrity of information, and demonstrate a collaborative approach in developing and leading the Unit.
Major Responsibility
- Ensure the development and implementation of a flexible and result oriented communications strategy for both internal and external communications.
- Generate ideas and create content for social media/digital channels. Develop content that is easily understandable and readers can connect with. Write and edit programme participant/client stories, scripts for videos, blogs, case studies, factsheets, capacity statements, and annual reports. Maintain an editorial calendar and oversee the monthly and yearly content production process.
- Regularly monitor the Country-specific web page and sections to identify information that needs to be updated, and follow through with the Head Office Comms team for keeping the website up to date.
- Capture and disseminate knowledge/best practices from the project/programme on a regular basis.
- Provide communications support during emergency situations and crisis management.
- Conceive media strategies and plan/implement those strategies to enhance the positioning of BRAC Country with the media, ministries, partners organisations and donors.
- Conceptualise and organise special events or BRAC Country with a view to reaching wider audience, and compile and generate relevant materials.
- Establish a safeguarding culture across all levels by implementing BRAC safeguarding policies. Act as a key source of support, guidance, and expertise on safeguarding for establishing a safe working environment for all.
- Identify opportunities to share compelling content with the development communities of practice.
- Work with the wider BRAC comms team to improve overall outreach and visibility efforts.
- Support to develop presentations, speeches, talking points. Connect and coordinate relevant opportunities for speaking engagements.
- Support creation, or facilitate production via third-party vendors of communication products/videos that explain the BRAC Country’s programmes, approach, and the impact it has on households, wider community, other practitioners, and overall efforts to combat social challenges.
- Provide support in planning and implementation to achieve communications and marketing objectives of the Microfinance entity. Ensure brand consistency, boost media engagement through effective PR, and organise campaigns to enhance visibility of the OneBRAC brand.
- Provide creative planning and execution support to develop social and behaviour change materials in coordination with internal and external design teams, product, impact and social performance experts and various functional leads of BRAC International Microfinance.
- Practice, promote and endorse the issues of safeguarding policy among team members and ensure the implementation of safeguarding standards in every course of action.
Knowledge, Skills & Competencies
- Developing communications campaigns to raise voices of youth to bring about policy change.
- Excellent written and spoken fluency in English.
- Effective time management skills and ability to complete assigned tasks within deadlines.
- Must be a confident communicator and presenter.
- Strong writing, editing, proofreading, professional printing/publishing skills are essential, including ability to present concepts verbally.
- Strong hold on aligning all communication products with BRAC brand guidelines.
- Strong knowledge and understanding of current trends in digital media/social media.
- Self-motivated with a positive and professional approach to management.
- Understanding of the local context and risks associated with dealing with stakeholders.
- An understanding of, and willingness to use, public opinion research and social media data to effectively develop strategies that build support for our values, and our policy advocacy are desirable.
- Strong initiative and follow-through, ability to shift priorities according to international news developments and ability to work well under pressure.
- Knowledge of BRAC’s vision, mission, and programmes; good understanding of development themes and issues; very good knowledge of contemporary communication styles and platforms;
- Ability to plan strategic campaigns; project management and event management; expert in developing ideas and content for various digital media platforms; strong creative and technical writing abilities.
Educational Requirements:
- Bachelors degree in English, Journalism, Communications, Public Relations, Development Studies, or any relevant subject in the field of social science. Business or Development Studies
- Masters degree would be an advantage.
Experience (Including sector/industry):
- Above 5 years of relevant work experience.
- Experience of working with Adolescent Girls and Young Women (AGYW).
- Prior experience working with similar multi-faceted organisations is a plus.
