PURPOSE OF THE POSITION
To provide strategic leadership that willΒ plan, coordinate and efficiently deliver this project.
DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES
Project Management and Leadership
- Coordinate the overall implementation of the project, monitor field activities across the project and ensure adherence to implementation deadlines
- Project manage highly complex projects which span across multiple teams and geographical areas, working with subject matter experts to ensure the delivery of high-quality, timely projects and deliverables
- Work closely with MEAL to ensure that the program and all projects are designed to make a measurable contribution to the Communities, integrate each of the cross cutting themes and are in alignment with EU standards & guidelines.
- Develop quality reports to line management including monthly, semi-annual, annual and financial reports in accordance with EU and other reporting standards.
- Provide sound financial management through effective budget expenditure, monitoring and forecasting, including oversight of logistical and other support functions,
- Write progress and other project management reports and documentation for different audiences
- Track, monitor, and report on progress of project activities, identifying and resolving risks and issues, identifying and applying learning to drive on-going continuous improvement
- Conduct ongoing evaluation of the actions taken and propose corrective measures if necessary.
- Make regular field visits and spot checks in the project areas of implementation
- Participate in the coordination mechanisms at the national level and local (in the intervention areas as required) to enhanceΒ cohesiveΒ projectΒ deliveryΒ andΒ increase visibility of the project
- Make sure the programme is implemented in accordance with the established requirements and criteria.
- Consolidate and validate financial and programme reporting with partners and with the funding manager for the donorβs reports. Organize and facilitate workshops, coordination meetings of the programme and operational teams
MEAL and Partnerships
- Work with MEAL colleagues and staff on implementation of the MEAL frameworkΒ and to capture lessons learnt.
- Develop learning platforms with partners to profile implementation and provide lessons learnt.
- Develop partnersβ capacities on planning, evaluation, financial and management issues;
- Ensure that all vital program information, documentation, stories and reports are provided on a timely basis and involve the district coordinators and all partners in key events/milestones of the program. Work with M and E to ensure program successes are documented, disseminated to partners and media/film crews are provided adequate support within the program.
People Management:
- Lead on recruitment, training and supervision of staff under a workable and accountable management structure. This will involve writing work schedules & training plans
- Ensure that all staff working are aware of ChildFund performance management systems, that objectives are set and monitored and opportunities for staff development are ensured
- Ensure that all staff are aware of and abide with key internal and external protocols and principles (e.g. Code of Conduct, Donor guidelines, and ChildFund safeguarding policy).
- Support teams in developing project management capacities and skills
Other:
- Required to adhere to ChildFund principles andΒ valuesΒ as well as the promotion ofΒ gender justice and womenβs rights
- Understanding of and commitment to adhere to equity, diversity, gender, child safety and staff health and wellbeing principles
Skills, experience and knowledge:
Essential
- Proven project management skills with experience of managing complex and geographically spread projects
- Previous experience managing EU funded project in a complex area
- Excellent interpersonal and teamwork skills, with the ability to build good relations both internally and externally
- High level of self-awareness and resilience as this is a fast paced and demanding role working with a large number of different stake holders
- A strong commitment to ChildFund values, to womenβs rights and gender equity and to diversity
- Proven influencing and negotiating skills
- Proactive approach to problem solving and ability to gather, collate, analyze and systematize information
- Demonstrated ability to quickly learn and link theoretical and practical knowledge in new and complex content areas
- Well-developed analytical and planning skills
- Excellent communication skills, verbal and written
- Understanding of ChildFund and ability to work internally and externally to achieve results
- Exceptional time management and organisation skills, ability to priorities both your own and othersβ work and with the teamβs collaboration and commitment
Desirable:
- Experience of leading or working in a consortium
- Masterβs degree in Agriculture, Economics, or equivalent experience
