Role purpose
The post holder works closely alongside the Country Manager as a senior member of the country team, sharing in strategic leadership of the integrated country programme and of the people and financial resources within the team.
As well as the specific role within the Sierra Leone country team, this post is part of Christian Aid’s Management Track. The post holder will spend a significant part of their time on activities relating to this management learning and development programme and contributing to projects across the Africa Division and the wider organisation.
The post holder is responsible for ensuring effective management and strategic development of Christian Aid policy/advocacy and thematic programmes. This includes strategic development and planning, fundraising, communications and the management of reporting and relationships with donors, staff representation and networking.
When deputizing for the Country Manager, the post holder will be part of the Divisional Management Group, an opportunity for being part of a group of people who are jointly learning, sharing and growing.
Key outcomes
- The delivery of programme and advocacy results that can demonstrate a significant contribution to Christian Aid’s corporate goals.
- Secure external funding for programmes and ensure effective reporting and relationships with donors and other key stakeholders
- Representation of the Sierra Leone programme and effective collaboration with other agencies and organizations
- Dynamic contribution to the strategic leadership of the country programme and team within the Africa division and wider organisation.
- Delivery of effective leadership and management of people, including support to the development of an “empowered” team in Sierra Leone
- Ongoing reflection on practice and learning as a manager including demonstrating impact as a manager and effective learning on a range of projects across the organisation.
