School Performance Improvement Technical Lead, SSEIP2

Cambridge Education is currently preparing to bid on the large, complex FCDO funded SSEIP2/ Girls Learning and Disability programme which will build on the work of the first phase: Sierra Leone Secondary Education Improvement Programme (SSEIP), also called Leh Wi Lan (Krio for “Let’s Learn”). The programme is aimed at increasing the years of quality education to keep girls and children with disability in school beyond primary. If successful, we expect the project to commence in Q4 2022 or Q1 2023.

The position requires regular travel nationwide to district and school level.

Deputy Team Leader & Technical Lead (tbc)





Example duties and responsibilities
The School Performance Improvement Technical Lead will be responsible for leading the design and implementation of interventions to support school leaders and mechanisms that support schools (e.g. BoGs) to more effectively contribute to improvements in management teaching and learning, inclusion and safety. This position is expected to be a fulltime in-country role, based in Freetown but with regular travel nationwide to district and school level.

Candidate profile

Experience/skills
Deep experience and knowledge of the context, challenges and opportunities in Sierra Leonean classrooms and schools. Experience implementing whole-school improvement and school leadership improvement interventions. Experience with action-based school and community accountability programming to improve school governance.Robust understanding of the wider issues affecting school performance including  absence, planning, quality of teaching, finance, use of data, inclusion and safety. Strong existing relationships with key institutions (TSC/MBSSE) and partners in relation to school performance. Experience of bringing cross-cutting issues such as gender and disability inclusion into school performance improvement approaches. Ability to use data to inform and adapt interventions.

Qualifications
Relevant bachelor’s degree and at least 10 years of experience in school performance improvement roles.
