Nectar Sierra Leone Bulk Terminal (NSBT) is seeking applications from qualified candidates to fill the below position.

1. Job Summary:

Monitoring of Health, Safety and Environment at the NSBT Terminal, ensuring any H & S policies and procedures implemented are in line with the local requirements, as well as established International Standards (IS) for that purpose. Carry out investigations of all accidents and incidences, and as well as near miss activities on the sites, and carry out any remedial actions, including training and re-training activities, in accordance with the relevant departments where applicable. Monitor health and safety, assess risk, and offer safety advice to reduce potential hazards.

2. Job Responsibilities:
   • Ensure that all relevant safety management systems including RA/SSOW are valid, effectively communicated and regularly audited
   • Ensure operation of the terminal is maintained within agreed limits of dusts, noise contamination, implement agreed measures and parameters throughout the shift
   • Prepare site induction training for all employees, visitors and sub-contractors on site and carry out such as, and when required
   • Coordinate with other departments heads and General Manager in preparation of risk assessments in areas of operation, technical, personnel and general. Then monitor implementation through a system to be agreed within the local management utilizing appointed personnel in different departments
   • Prepare an H&S training program / inductions for all employees, visitors and contractors on site and carry out such as, and when required
   • Report on operational and safety related delays to the operations manager 24/7
   • Investigate all environmental incidents and implement actions to prevent re-occurrence
   • Oversee the induction and safety procedures of operational Staff working both Freetown and Nitti, as well as Nitti drivers
   • Oversee the daily safety activities and supervise the provision of PPEs

3. Qualifications & Experience; 
   1. A bachelor’s degree in a health, safety, or environmental field of study
   2. Diploma of Work Health and Safety (BSB51315) or Advanced Diploma of Work Health and Safety (BSB60615).
   3. 3 years’ full-time experience in an OHS Practitioner role
   4. 3 – 5 years’ work experience in health and safety.

4. Knowledge, Skills & Attributes; 
   1. Good communication skills; both oral and written,
   2. Knowledge of industry safety practices and Safety Management
   3. In depth knowledge of legislation (e.g. OSHA/EPA) and procedures
   4. Proficient in all Microsoft Applications.
   5. Good organization skills
   6. Good analytical skills and the ability to think critically
   7. Good public speaking skills
