Job Description

NURSE – 1 Position

This position is for Waterloo Clinic. The position holder shall report to the Medical Officer in Western Area Rural. The Nurse will assist in the daily running of the clinic to ensure patients get quality and timely care in line with AHF and Sierra Leone government standards. May act as a team leader within the scope of the practice guidelines as dictated by the scope of practice of nurses. The holder of this position will perform among others the following duties.

  • In collaboration with community health officer support all activities at the clinic
  • Triage clients at clinic.
  • Provide skilled nursing procedures (i.e. dressing changes).
  • Organize follow up of clients who have defaulted treatment and care.
  • Performs phlebotomy and/or initiates intravenous infusions as ordered (provided is certified).
  • Support the formation and management patient support groups at the clinic.
  • May supervise care given by other cadres including, Medical Assistants, ART Aides and Phlebotomists.
  • Provides patient and family education.
  • Reports significant changes in the patient’s physical status to the RN and/or to the medical provider.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Minimum of a diploma in nursing obtained from a reputable training institution.
  • A minimum of 3 years of experience working with HIV clients in public health institutions, community services or medical setting.
  • Must be registered with the Nursing Council of Sierra Leone.

PREVENTION PROGRAM COORDINATOR _ South-East Region

Reports to: Prevention and Advocacy Manager 

Job Summary: 

The Prevention Program Coordinator will ensure implementation of HIV prevention programs in AHF supported health facilities, ensure adherence to SOPs, national guidelines and protocols. He/ she would facilitate the expansion and coverage of prevention program in line with approved program objectives. Strengthen collaboration & partnership with CBO / CSOs and other NGOs to enhance synergy

Essential Duties and Responsibilities: 

  • Contributes to the development, implementation, monitoring and evaluation of programs aimed at Prevention of HIV (including Testing and Counseling).
  • Ensure effective implementation of retention activities together with the clinical team and other stakeholders at the site/district/regional levels.
  • Coordinates the provision of community HCT outreaches according to acceptable protocols and in line with the national guidelines.
  • Scale up and strengthen the provision of HCT through index testing and provider-initiated testing and counseling approaches.
  • Coordinate prevention activities for young people in the region, including but not limited to programs like GIRLS ACT, Boys to Men and other Young People’s Program.
  • Support the design and implementation of prevention programs for MARPs and other key populations (i.e. as female sex workers, Adolescent and young persons as well as PWID).
  • Contribute to the capacity building of HCWs and staff of CBO partners with respect to HIV prevention programs.
  • Provides technical assistance to health facilities, CBOs sub-partners on strategic program implementation.
  • Assist in ensuring coordinated inventory management, performs a monthly stock count and reports appropriately.

Education and Experience: 

  • BSc, BA or any relevant qualifications.
  • MPH would be an added advantage
  • At least 5 years’ experience in providing HIV prevention activities.

COMMUNITY HEALTH OFFICER (CHO) – MAGBURAKA 

The position holder shall report to the Medical Officer in charge of the region. The Community Health Officer is responsible for co-ordination of all AIDS Healthcare Foundation’s (AHF) programs at the clinic. S/he provides leadership at the clinic and ensures that AHF’s mission statement, core values, and key partnership standards and practices are the foundation of AHF’s strategies and work. The holders of these positions will perform among others the following duties.

  • Management and coordination of all clinic activities.
  • Provides day to day management of HIV/AIDS patients including patients on ART.
  • Effective and active management of clients at the facility.

The position holder shall report to the Community Health Officer. The Laboratory Technician provide laboratory oversight and adherence to standard laboratory protocols in all program sites. Involved in training, support supervision, mentorship and team building exercises for laboratory staff.  Ensures that high quality of laboratory services is maintained.   • Participates in planning and oversight for the laboratory function.

Job Title: Monitoring and Evaluation Manager 

Reports to: Medical Manager

Location: Freetown

 

Job Summary: 

The M&E Manager leads the development and implementation of monitoring and evaluation systems to track program performance and impact. He/She will oversee data collection, analysis, and reporting, design evaluations to guide program improvement, and strengthen the use of data for planning and decision-making, particularly within the context of HIV/AIDS response. The role combines strategic leadership, systems development, and capacity building to ensure evidence-based programming.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Provide leadership and guidance on program monitoring and evaluation to meet AHF global and Government of Sierra Leone reporting requirements.
  • Manages country level Monitoring, Evaluation and Reporting activities for AHF Intervention across all supported districts in Sierra Leone.
  • Provide technical assistance to states and sites programs in the collection, analysis, reporting and use of output data for program improvement.
  • Manage the country program’s data reporting cycle to ensure high quality and complete data are sent to the Bureau/Global office on a periodic basis, or when required.

The position holder shall report to the Operations Manager. To provide site support as a handyman for running errands and other support functions, repairs and ensure the safety and security of AHF property at the country office.   • To ensure that office/clinic premises are clean and tidy both in and outside.

Store Officer- Administrative Office- Freetown

Summary of the position

The post holder will report to the Operations Manager and will be responsible for the security of AHF-Sierra Leone stores area and all inventory held to ensure adequate custody of the organization’s valuables. This function will be executed by ensuring strict adherence to practices that comply with agreed best practices for the efficient performance of stores including maintaining optimal stock levels, good record management, timely stores processes, ensuring stocks held meet the requirements and specifications to meet the day to day demands, collaboration/coordination with relevant departments/sites/stakeholders to ensure optimal operation and adherence to AHF policies and procedures Be accountable for the efficient and effective use of the working tools.

. The holder of this position will perform among others the following duties: 

  1. Receive goods from suppliers, both internal and external, and verify them against approved documentation i.e., Purchase Order, delivery notes, etc. for storage and application in accordance with the organization’s program needs.
  2. Ensures all commodities received in store are stored in a proper and safe manner. Stock cards should be allotted to each item.
  3. Adequately inspect delivered items for quality and order specifications and promptly notify user department of any deviations from specifications.
  4. Ensure the integrity of the stores area is always maintained.
  5. Promptly issue commodities to respective users (persons/departments) against duly approved stores requisitions.
  6. Ensure accurate accountability of all transactions to and from stores.
  7. Regularly reconcile physical stocks with the stores records and notify the supervisor immediately in case of any discrepancies.
  8. Ensures timely dispatch & adequate packaging of commodities to facilitate safe delivery to destined healthcare centers. And coordinate with external dispatch agents to ensure good quality service in line with engagement/contract stipulations.

  13. Timely update of inventory management system (ERP) and periodically reconcile system records with the physical quantities in stock.

  15. Monitor stock movements and actively participate in forecasting of supplies including drugs, equipment, and laboratory reagents.

  17. Undertakes other duties as maybe assigned by the supervisor.

 

Education and Experience

  • Diploma in Pharmacy, Supplies Chain and Stores Management, Procurement or equivalent relevant qualification.
  • A minimum of 3 years’ experience working medical stores or warehouse.
  • Experience in pharmaceutical warehousing or being a pharmacy technician is an added advantage.
  • Professional computer skills, including MS Word, Excel, internet, and email
  • Ability to communicate and perform within an international and multicultural team

 

Skills and Abilities

    • Ability to read and interpret documents pertaining to packaging, supplies, shipment and deliveries. Ability to communicate well with vendors and other relevant individuals.
    • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to make simple analysis and interpretation are important.
    • Sensitive to ethics and confidentiality of HIV/AIDS patient issues
    • Basic literacy on HIV/AIDS treatment and care.
    • Ability to prepare reports and participate in teamwork.
    • Good communication and interpersonal skills.
    • Result oriented
