About the role

The program aims to improve food security and climate resilience among vulnerable smallholder farmers by promoting climate-smart agricultural practices, strengthening natural resource management, and promoting sustainable food and nutrition systems. Key outcomes include increased access to nutritious, diverse, and affordable food, reduced malnutrition, improved health and nutrition services, and increased income. The program also promotes sustainable resource utilization, fisheries development, nutrition screening, and WASH services. Collaboration with government, NGOs, and microfinance partners fosters equitable, climate-adaptive development and long-term stability in targeted regions.

Key Responsibilities

Design Systems for Learning

Develop the overall framework for the project's MEL systems, with the supervision of the MEL Manager Work with the programme's Senior Manager and the MEL manager to systematically document project performance against the work plan, providing regular updates to project technical leads and the project leadership team.

  • Β Providing support in the design and delivering monitoring evaluation learning and research across the project.
  • Β Work with the MEL Manager to develop learning cycles - including processes for outcome mapping and monitoring.
  • Β Develop and implement effective youth-led monitoring tools and approaches to demonstrate the effectiveness of project interventions - including dynamic accountability processes, youth-led reviews, and aggregation of evidence for influencing activities.
  • Β Help donors and programmes teams understand what works, what doesn't, and why.
  • Β Ensure all tools and systems are user-friendly and easily understood by both the youth collective and partners

Implement Systems

  • Β Ensure the alignment of MEL activities with program goals and contribute to the development of annual work plans for the project to identify project targets and ensure the inclusion of MEL activities.
  • Β Conduct field visits for data validation, monitor the quality and completeness of data sets and provide targeted support to programme teams. Capture and document lessons learned; champion the scaling-up of best practices.

  • Β Assist in providing the staff members with effective Performance Management.
  • Β Seek learning opportunities for staff.
  • Β Be approachable, supportive and helpful to all staff, volunteers and adolescents on an equal basis.
  • Β Support the staff you manage to respond to the targeted change makers, volunteer's welfare and basic discipline situations.
  • Β Work in line with Restless Development guidelines for discipline, care and counselling.

Programme Coordination and delivery

  • Β Lead on the overall coordination of the project activities in the districts in line with the overall programme scope and work plan.
  • Β Support the implementation of a community mapping assignment in preparation for project implementation across the district.
  • Β Supervise the working relationship between Field Officers, volunteers, adolescents and households and the overall communities in the districts.
  • Β Assist the Senior Programme Manager in the planning, organising and monitoring community orientation, sensitisation at District level.
  • Β Assist the Senior Program Manager with coordinating, planning and organising training to Field Officers, and ensure training is being cascading to the volunteer.
  • Β Act as Lead in ensuring staff and volunteers across the project districts uphold the values and safeguarding policies of the organisation. Support monitoring activities around safeguarding and be accessible to beneficiaries and stakeholders should they have concerns relating to safeguarding.
  • Β Serve as a key focal person for the program and attend meetings with government and non-government stakeholders in the District.
  • Β Serve as a key focal person for all project monitoring visits to the District.

Finance Management

  • Β Help compile the monthly budgets for activities.
  • Β Monitor project budget and burn rate in line with available financial resources, objectives and implementation plans in that District and liaise promptly with the Senior Programme Manager to provide regular updates and bring any anticipated challenge.
  • Β Submit monthly submission cash flow forecast to the Senior Programme Manager.
  • Β Support staff to liquidate all Field Officers request monies for programme activities as appropriate.
  • Β Ensure staff retire accurate and timely collated financial records to the Finance Unit.
  • Β Ensure that all staff under your supervision adhere to the finance and procurement policy and procedures.
  • Β Ensure that requisitions and retirements are appropriately implemented and that all expenditures are backed by the required supporting documentations.

Monitoring & Evaluation
