1.) Project Officer Neglected Tropical Diseases
Title: Neglected Tropical Diseases Project Officer
Location: Freetown, Sierra Leone
Salary: Local terms and conditions apply
Contract: One-year fixed-term contract with possibility of renewal
With funding from FCDO/ELFA, our team in Sierra Leone is looking for a highly motivated Project Officer, to join the NTDs project with a base in Freetown with regular field visits to project sites in the provinces.
About the role
The Project Officer will support NTD programme implementation, monitoring and supervision; ensuring that Onchocerciasis and Lymphatic Filariasis activities are delivered in accordance with WHO NTD minimum quality standards. The primary purpose of this position is to ensure the planned implementation of NTDs projects in Sierra Leone within budget and implemented to the agreed project schedule/documents within the timelines proposed through collaboration with partners
Responsibilities
Further duties and responsibilities of this role include:
- Working closely with external stakeholders to implement annual project plans and ensure effective project implementation whilst supporting the full project lifecycle through to close out
- Ensuring project activities are delivered to quality standard, escalating issues and risk in a timely manner
- Supporting partners to deploy adequate NTD quality assurance tools to enhance effective programme delivery
- Ensuring highly quality reporting, lessons learned from project implementation are acted on and action points from activities in the field are followed up
- Providing technical support to enhance and maintain the capacity and skills of people involved in the project
- Supporting the Country EH/NTDs Programme Manager with reviewing learning in project implementation
- Developing high quality case studies as part of reporting and for fundraising
- Assisting with forecasting and budgets for the NTDs projects, monitoring expenditure against budget
- Supporting the Finance Support Services Manager of Sightsavers and project partners to develop a suitable partner capacity building plan
- Working with the Finance and Support Services Manager and projects partners to ensure proper partner accountability for Donors and Sightsavers funds
- Working with the NTD Programme of the Ministry of Health and partners on how to interpret and use data/findings to guide decision making
- Supporting the MOH to fully appropriate the use of the country health information platforms and DHIS2

Skills and Experience
To succeed in this role you will have the following:
- A qualification/ masters/ BSc. degree in public health, biology, sociology, international development, or other relevant field or equivalent experience
- Excellent knowledge of budgeting, forecasting and financial provisions
- Evidence of previous experience working in NTDs at national and/or regional levels (Lymphatic Filariasis, Schistosomiasis, Soil-Transmitted Helminths Onchocerciasis, and Trachoma)
- Previous experience in monitoring and evaluation of projects/programmes
- Excellent communication skills and advocacy
- Strong reporting writing skills, IT
- Fluency in written and spoken English
- Availability to travel to relevant health regions for monitoring and supervision
- An understanding of and commitment to equality of opportunity for disabled people

2.) Data Analyst
Sightsavers is looking for an experienced Data Analyst with International Development programmatic experience to produce technical organisational reports and dashboards, provide support to colleagues and analyse programmatic data. This is an exciting time to join Sightsaverβs DART team, as the organisation undergoes a digital transformation in data analytics.

Location: Lusaka Zambia, Nwoya Uganda, Dar es Salaam Tanzania, Nairobi Kenya, Bamako Mali, Freetown Sierra Leone or Abuja Nigeria
Contract: 24-month Fixed Term Contract
Hours: This is a full-time role with some flexibility around hours worked
Responsibilities
Sightsavers is looking for a Data Analyst with International Development programmatic experience and who has worked with inclusive data and DHIS2. You will be extracting meaningful information, producing reports and dashboards to deadlines, providing training and support to colleagues across the international organisation. This is a technical role and someone with experience of Sightsavers key thematic areas of eye health, education, social inclusion and NTDs would be particularly of interest.
Some key duties include:
- Support the development and production of quarterly and annual dashboards and data reports, using Power BI, Excel and DHIS2-based approaches, for dissemination across the organisation
- Conduct data analysis on Sightsavers projects
- Strengthen country office data reporting systems
- Work with country offices to map and improve project data flows.

Skills and Experience
Essential experience and skills for this role:
- Graduate level qualification or equivalent work-based experience in statistics, information systems, international development, public health or any other with a core statistical/analytical component.
- Proven successful track record of working with organisational data management systems and applying data analysis/statistical techniques to data (within health, education, international development or other fields directly related to Sightsaversβ thematic portfolio).
- Practical experience of good data quality and data cleaning practices to prepare data sets for use in analytics software.
- Experience of capacity building and supporting staff in different contexts (face to face, online) to deliver organisational data collection to deadlines
- Understanding of international development issues and a commitment to equality of opportunity for disabled people.
- Practical experience of DHIS2 for data collection, reporting and visualisation
- Experience of digital transformation, implementing new software/tools/working practices within an organization.
- Proficient in the use of Power BI, Tableau or other data visualisation software.
- Experience of using Power Query for extraction, transformation, loading and connecting data from different data sources.
- Able to work with multiple stakeholders and ensure differing concerns and priorities are effectively managed.
- Fluent in English, with experience of writing reports and briefings in English
Desirable experience and skills:
- Masterβs degree in international development, international relations, geography, statistics or appropriate equivalent.
- French and/or Portuguese language skills
