Role Description
The Mining Manager is responsible for overseeing all mining operations, ensuring efficient and safe extraction of resources, managing the mining team, and maintaining compliance with all mining regulations and company standards. This role involves strategic planning, operational management, and continuous improvement of mining activities to achieve production targets. The Mining Manager will work closely with the Project Manager to align mining activities with project goals and timelines.
Functional Responsibilities
Operational Management:
- Oversee daily mining operations, develop, implement and monitor short and long-term mining plans and budget to meet production targets in alignment with project goals.
- Monitor and manage the quality and quantity of extracted materials.
- Monitor and analyze mining operations to identify areas for improvement and implement solutions.
- Ensure effective coordination with geology and engineering teams to optimize mining plans Safety and Compliance:
- Ensure all mining activities comply with all relevant HSE regulations.
- Promote a culture of safety and continuous improvement in all mining operations.
- Ensure all team members are trained in safety procedures and protocols.
- Ensure worksites are HSE compliant with company policies and safety standards.
- The workplace and tools are clean and hygienic.

- Ensure all incident procedures are followed.
- Follow all SRL and Mano Mining & Logistics Limited HSE protocols
Resource Management:
- Manage the allocation and utilization of mining equipment and resources.
- Coordinate with the maintenance team to ensure mining equipment reliability and availability.
- Oversee inventory management of necessary mining supplies and materials.
Team Leadership:
- Lead, mentor, and develop a team of mining professionals and support staff.
- Foster a positive and productive work environment.
- Conduct performance reviews, provide constructive feedback, and develop performance improvement plans as needed.
- Identify relevant training and development needs and facilitate continuous professional development.
Financial Management:
- Manage mining budget and control costs to ensure financial targets are met.
- Prepare financial and operational reports for senior management.
- Identify opportunities for cost savings and operational efficiencies.
Stakeholder Engagement:
- Liaise with relevant internal and external stakeholders, including client, contractors, suppliers, regulatory bodies, and the local community.
- Ensure clear communication and collaboration between all parties involved in the mining operations.
Technical Expertise:
- Stay updated on the latest mining technologies, techniques, and industry best practices.
- Provide technical guidance and support to the mining team.
- Oversee the maintenance and optimization of mining equipment and infrastructure.
Qualifications & Experience
- Master’s degree in Mining Engineering, Geology, or a related field preferred.
- Minimum of 10 years of experience in mining operations, with at least 5 years in a managerial role.
- Proficient in advanced mining software and tools.
- In-depth knowledge of mining processes, safety standards, and regulatory requirements.
- Proven track record of successfully managing large-scale mining projects.
- Strong leadership and team management skills.
- Excellent problem-solving, decision-making, and analytical skills.
Advantageous Knowledge & Skills:
- In-depth knowledge of open-pit mining & plant feed methods, techniques, and equipment, with a strong understanding of pit design, planning, and optimization principles.
- In-depth knowledge in stockpile management.
- Familiarity with safety regulations, environmental compliance requirements, and industry standards applicable to mining operations
- Excellent leadership and interpersonal skills, with the ability to motivate and inspire teams to achieve performance targets and safety objectives.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, with a strategic mindset and the capacity to make data-driven decisions under pressure.
- Effective communication skills, with the ability to convey complex technical concepts to diverse audiences and build positive relationships internally and externally.
- Proficiency in mining software and technology tools, such as mine planning software and fleet management systems.
- Flexibility to work in a dynamic, fast-paced environment and adapt to changing priorities and operational challenges.
- Willingness to travel as needed to visit mine sites, attend meetings, and participate in industry events.
