Position Title:  Project Accountant 

 Reporting to: Executive Director 

 Location: Freetown (70 Freetown and 30 % Regional Offices)

 

JOB SUMMARY:  

The primary function of the Project Accountant is to develop, manage and administer SLaDA’s plans for proper  recording, documentation, control, monitoring, and reporting of financial operations in compliance with SLaDA and  donor rules and regulations. The Project Accountant is solely responsible for planning, organizing, and directing all  financial transactions of SLaDA. S/he manages the financial systems of the organization, ensuring that control  measures are implemented. S/he provides oversight of the day-to-day financial operations and is accountable for  organizing and providing high-level quality financial services to SLaDA programs, projects, and units.

RESPONSIBILITIES AND TASKS:

RESPONSIBILITIES: 

JOB RESPONSIBILITY # 1: 

Financial System Operations Management and Data Processing. The Project Accountant plays a  crucial coordination and management role in financial system operations to ensure the system is  functioning properly and is being used effectively by staff. S/he provides day-to-day oversight of  financial operations and ensures efficient process flows and controls over finance and accounting  functions are processed in the system accurately and reported to donors, management and other  partners timely.  

Specific roles and responsibilities included. 

Tasks; 

∙ Ensure Monthly Liquidations are done not later than the 15th of Every month to Donors for the  preceding month

∙ Lead in the Preparation of the budget for operations

∙ Work with Executive Director to prepare and review all funding application budgets

∙ Ensure policies, procedures, and other quick reference guides are available to staff and  disseminated

∙ Determine short and long-term cash needs and coordinate cash requests and approvals, including  the submission of cash flow projections

∙ Ensure vendors are paid within the Purchase Order or Contract payment terms with full supporting  documentation and account receivable are collected timely

∙ Ensure journal entries are processed timely, and accurately and cash receipts are recorded properly in the partner reporting framework.

∙ Ensure that the period closing processes are performed timely and adequately. Activities  implemented should be reported in the month payment is made and not in accrual.  ∙ Supervise the quality and integrity of financial data, supporting documentation and ensure  completeness of data recorded in the system.

∙ Ensure submission of timely, complete, and reliable financial reports to the Executive Director,  donors, and other stakeholders.

∙ Fully monitor financial statements as against transactions done by SLaDA on a monthly basis ∙ Lead in the preparation of forecasts and yearly budgets, produce yearly financial reports for the office ∙ Lead the preparation of budgets and implement SLaDA policy and guidelines related to fair sharing  of support costs

∙ Supervise the monitoring of actual expenses against budgets

∙ Ensure costs/expenses are managed properly within approved budgets

JOB RESPONSIBILITY#2:  

Financial Analysis, Compliance, and Control”  

Tasks; 

∙ Perform quality reviews and analysis of books as well as financial performance reports and provide  feedback to the Executive Director to improve financial management (Bank reconciliation, balance  sheet, income statement, grants/contracts reports, actual expenses vs budgets, payroll allocation,  etc.)

∙ Ensure compliance with SLaDA’s accounting policy and procedures and generally accepted  accounting principles (GAAP)

∙ Ensure the payroll and other systems provide adequate controls

∙ Review all leases, agreements, and/or contracts that require current and future use of the  organization’s assets and make any relevant recommendations to the Executive Director  ∙ Ensure SLaDA complies with donor rules and regulations

∙ Ensure SLaDA prepares for annual financial and donor audits

∙ Facilitate internal and external audits, and assist the Executive Director in preparing responses to  audit findings as well as planning and implementing audit recommendations

∙ Ensure cash deposits are done on a daily basis with relevant documents in place

∙ Complete Project financial records and statements taking notes of gaps and notes to files for gaps  identified.

∙ Bsc. in Accounting or equivalent in a similar role

∙ Proven work experience as an Accountant in the NGO environment

∙ Desired: having a Master’s Degree in Accounting or its equivalent is an added advantage ∙ Computer literacy – Microsoft Office, Excel essential.

2.) District Project Officer

Title: District Project Officer  

Functional Area: Programme unit  

Reports to: Adolescent Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights (ASRHR) Project Manager

Location: Moyamba District

Travel required: 50%

Effective Date: 1st September 2023

ROLE PURPOSE 

The Project District Officer will be responsible for the implementation and monitoring of activities of the  Adolescent Sexual and Reproductive Health project at the field district level. The project promotes  Adolescent Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights and Comprehensive Sexuality Education with the  aim to empower girls and boys to decide on their bodies and lives.

DIMENSIONS OF THE ROLE  

The project is a 3 years EU development project that will be implemented by SLaDA and will involve  social norm change at the community level. The role will contribute to the quality planning,  implementation, monitoring and reporting of project activities in the project’s operational districts. The  role will be supported by the Project Manager. The District Project Officer will be working with children,  teachers, community stakeholders and SRHR service providers, with a particular focus on adolescent girls  in the implementation communities.

ACCOUNTABILITIES  

  • Conduct field visits as required by the project
  • Conduct forum discussions in coordination with SRHR service providers/stakeholders at the district  level for adolescent boys and girls,
  • Responsible for mentoring and coaching young girls in the community
  • Support strategies for advocacy and resource mobilization in the SRHR sector
  • Support the development of messages for parents/caregivers on supporting their children’s learning and  well-being.
  • Support in mobilizing key SRHR actors/partners and participate in sectoral meetings
  • Organize district and community-level consultations with SRHR stakeholders including Parent Teachers  Associations (PTA), School Management Committees (SMCs), SLaDA Role Profile for Mother’s Clubs  (MC), Public Health Units (PHU), teachers and as well as school pupils, and youth groups. • Hold score carding activities at the chiefdom and district levels focusing on child participation with regards to the  project, including children with disabilities.
  • To conduct regular coordination meetings (biweekly/monthly) with relevant stakeholders  • To collect relevant project data by using the agreed monitoring tools.
  • To provide weekly and monthly monitoring data to the M&E Officer and the Project Manager.
  • To timely report any issue with monitoring data collection to the M&E Officer and the Project  Manager.
  • Ensures that Plan International’s global policies for Safeguarding Children and Young People and  Gender Equality and Inclusion are fully in their area of responsibility.

Plan International Sierra Leone is recruiting a Livelihood Coordinator – SPADs to lead the coordination and implementation of the Livelihood component of the SPADs intervention.

 

DIMENSIONS OF ROLE

The Livelihood Coordinator is responsible for managing of the livelihood component of the SPADs project in Port Loko and Moyamba respectively. He/she will work very closely with communities, Project participants, Local Authorities, National and International NGOs, and Civil Society Organizations (CSOs) to ensure effective planning, implementation, monitoring, and evaluation of Livelihood activities for Plan in the district. The Coordinator will ensure that projects are implemented as per the approved proposals and Plan International programming approach. He/she is also responsible for the preparation of high-quality reports in a timely manner

 

ACCOUNTABILITIES

The Livelihood Coordinator will be responsible for the following:

  • Overall supervision of Livelihood activities within the SPADs program
  • Undertake community vulnerability assessments in targeted communities to define community gaps and provide basis for planning.
  • Lead the identification and selection of the project participants jointly with the communities, village agents and local leaders/authority using set of criteria.
  • Facilitate planning, organizing, and management of agricultural-related activities including village savings and loan associations (VSLAs), women farmers groups, women vocational training and promote life skills at the community level
  • Facilitate integration of agricultural activities into other related projects in the organization especially the food security section of the Integrated School Feeding Programme (ISFP) in sponsoring communities.
  • Networking with relevant government departments, ministries, and agencies e.g. Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry Services, Ministry of social welfare, and District Councils.
  • Strive to ensure marketing for the produce of the women farmers group and women’s vocational training
  • Ensure sustainability of the VSLA and farmers groups and improve their financial capacity.
  • Facilitate women’s vocational skills process and monitor the distribution of start-up kits.
  • Facilitate training of project participants and village agents on climate-smart approaches in farming and VSLA principles, procedures and actions, financial literacy and recording, and related topics.
  •  Develop work plans (Weekly, Monthly, and Quarterly) to ensure effective implementation of all livelihood-related activities as outlined in the detailed implementation plan.
  • Conduct an assessment of financial service providers and challenges in reaching vulnerable groups.
  • Link the VSLA groups to Savings and Credit Cooperative Societies and Micro Financial Institutions (MFI) services for further financial access.
  • Regularly monitor, follow up and provide technical support to VLSAs members and ensure quality practice and function as per standard.
  • Facilitate the identification of village level VSLA agents to enhance community awareness and ownership/sustainability of VSLA approach.
  • Supervise the livelihood component of the project including VSLA Agents and women farmers groups and women vocational skill development at all levels.
  • Effectively represent Plan International at all levels.
  • Participate in workshops, trainings and meetings organized by Plan International and other agencies and contribute effectively to the success of the events.

 

Key technical tasks and areas of Accountability include:            

  • Lead and provide technical inputs on VSLA, Agriculture, life skills and financial inclusion in the design and preparation of new livelihood proposals.
  • Facilitate and ensure establishment of VSLA groups in targeted communities, conduct trainings as necessary on Livelihood including VSLA implementation and principles, risk management, etc.
  • Oversee, provide coaching mentorship within all components of VSLA, Agriculture and Life skills sessions in the project
  • Ensuring technical quality and standards are considered and respected during implementation.
  • Ensure the full participation, awareness of the project by engaging with key partners (donor, Government offices, the community, and targeted participants) in all stages of implementation
  • Ensure that all activities meet community needs; promote gender equality and ensure full and equal participation of women in all aspects, making sure that the program is an opportunity for peace making, not community division.
  • Facilitate and organize exchange visits and any other events for the VSLA participants and leaders to share learning and experience.
  • Identify high-capacity vocational skills training center for the youth and women to learn different skills as per market demand/market survey results in order to equip with required skills for self-employment.
  • Collaborate with the SPADS Project Manager for all decisions related to VSLAs and pre-urban livelihoods and carry out any other duties as may be assigned by the Line supervisor.
  • Work closely in teamwork with livelihoods such as the School Feeding program, Logistics and finance.

 

Monitoring and Evaluation of Livelihood in Spads

 

  • Undertake regular monitoring field visit to all Livelihood interventions where SPADs is implemented
  • Conduct regular follow-up and provide support to VSLAs graduates to see if they are applying the technologies and practices and provide technical assistance where there are gaps.
  • Track progress of livelihood related activities, savings groups and VSLAs activities to measure progress against targets
  • In collaboration with the MERL unit, facilitate the development of tools and data collection from savings groups, women farmers groups.
  • Monitor all women that are empowered through vocational training
  • Undertake regular monitoring and supervision of VSLA, Agriculture and life skills interventions in the project
  • Consolidate/compile monthly, quarterly, and annual activity reports and special events showing achievements, lessons learnt, constraints, and recommendations and submit to supervisor on agreed time
  • Carry out quarterly/annual review meetings to assess performance of activities against set targets at the community and program level.
  • Conduct assessment using appropriate tools to collect information and document the impact and benefits of the intervention by producing case stories
  • Participate in field level assessment and or evaluation of project performance/evaluations.
  • Arrange and facilitate program visits for Plan International staff, partners, and donors
  • Work closely with the Project Manager for SPADs to ensure KPIs on Livelihood are reported in SAP/ PMERL

 

Project Reporting

  • Prepare high quality timely project field activity monthly, quarterly and annual reports on Livelihood interventions
  • Prepare monthly budget of VSLA and livelihood activities submit to the supervisor for approval
  • Prepare detail implementation workplan and ensure the respective team members are aware and is properly implemented and targeted indicators achieved
  • Work closely with Plan Comms department to share case stories and achievement on Livelihoods

 

Networking and Advocacy

  • Work closely with the comms department for the review and finalization of SPAD’s case stories including the documentation of references and learning materials
  • Strengthen interdepartmental collaboration to aid information exchange within the organization, while utilizing the knowledge management base resources
  • Coordinate with partners to create effective synergies that contribute to maximizing the project impact.
  • Contribute to Plan efforts in influencing and advocacy and ensure mainstreaming of participatory approach within the project.

Plan International Sierra Leone is recruiting a Programme Manager – SPADs to lead the coordination and implementation of SPADs interventions.

 

DIMENSIONS OF ROLE

The project Manager is responsible for the overall coordination and management of the gender transformative, programmatic, and financial of all SPADs interventions in Moyamba and Port Loko in accordance with all relevant programme documents. The post holder will also support the development of strategic documents including SPADs Programme Strategy and Annual Workplan. The SPADs Project Manager will report to the Head of Programme Implementation. The post holder will frequently move between Port Loko and Moyamba districts

 

ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • Ensure SPADs programme implementation aligns with PII programme quality standards including the Global Programming and Influencing Strategy and Country Strategy.
  • Provide technical support to Gender Transformative Animators and Livelihood Coordinators members with insight on quality project implementation standards policies, strategies, research, and other resources to improve project quality.
  • Promote accountability, communicate expectations, and provide constructive feedback via regular coordination meetings and learning events.
  • Ensure the logical framework of the project and M&E components are well conducted in order to help decision-making for the smooth running of the project.

Project Implementation

  • Execute overall project management and partner implementation of SPADs projects on Livelihood, Child Protection, Gender and Inclusion, and Inclusive Quality Education within the deadlines and standards required by Plan International.
  • Oversee project budget including generating funds forecasts, tracking expenditures, and maintaining all necessary information for the timely development of financial reports. He/she will also be responsible for ensuring that the financial reporting is aligned with the narrative.
  • Ensure that the logical framework of the project and M&E components are well conducted in order to help decision-making for the smooth running of the project.
  • Make frequent trips to the project areas to monitor project activities, identify opportunities and constraints, and make any necessary adjustments, including capacity strengthening.
  • Regularly update the progress, priorities, and constraints of project implementation.
  • Track monitoring of expenditure and ensure adaptations to project activities as required to ensure full expenditure of the portfolio.
  • Work with the finance and MERL teams to set the project outline on SAP.
  • Support the development of the detailed implementation plan (DIP) to align with the approved log-frames.

 

Representation and Monitoring

  • Represent Plan in internal/external meetings including line ministries.
  • Monitor the performance of the programme teams and internal Plan staff assigned to the projects to ensure all milestones set in the annual work plan are met, develop mitigation plans to reduce risks, and take corrective actions to remedy any deviation from the work plans;
  • Account and report to Plan International and the donor on project performance;
  • Implement portfolio according to Plan’s project cycle
  • Ensure planned activities and budgets are aligned with planned project results and budget parameters.
  • Support effective monitoring and evaluation for measuring the effects/impacts of the projects in the portfolio, and that program data and information are included in national data/statistics
  • Ensure compliance with effective budget monitoring and management including tracking project budget in SAP/PMERL ensuring efficient resource utilization and cost-effectiveness, as well as providing the required explanation should there be any variance reported.

Project Reporting

  • Liaise with Programme Team and Sector Specialists to ensure monthly, quarterly, and annual reporting requirements are clearly met.
  • Responsible for providing narrative and financial reports for the overall SPADs and uploading all KPIs into Plan International systems (SAP/PMERL)
  • Coordinate and follow up on programme team reporting deadlines and support reporting revisions where necessary, including receiving reports from local partners, coordinating comments and feedback, and sending the final version to the national office.
  • Support the Program Functions in start-up workshop planning, preparation, and coordination
  • Ensure that mutual co-learning plans are on track and that partnership monitoring tools are being appropriately used for all partners, with support from technical specialists

 

Networking and Advocacy

  • Work closely with the comms department for the review and finalization of SPAD’s case stories including the documentation of references and learning materials
  • Strengthen interdepartmental collaboration to aid information exchange within the organization, while utilizing the knowledge management base resources
  • Coordinate with partners to create effective synergies that contribute to maximizing the project impact.
  • Contribute to Plan efforts in influencing and advocacy and ensure mainstreaming of participatory approach within the project.

 

Partnerships and Capacity-Building  

  • Roll out capacity-building plans and activities for programme teams.
  • Contribute to the review of technical tools and capacity-building resources and ensure they are adapted and contextualized to the SPADs interventions context.
  • Regularly deliver capacity-building sessions, such as on-the-job coaching, mentorship, and training, to staff and volunteers, and other stakeholders.
  • Support ongoing identification of technical capacity gaps among the programme team.
  • Regularly updated the Sector Specialists on progress related to partner capacity-building and feedback on technical tools and resources

 

Monitoring and Evaluation of SPADs Interventions

  • Undertake regular monitoring field visits to all sponsorship communities where SPADs are implemented
  • Track project performance using the log frame and report
  • Work closely with the MERL unit to develop and share tools among project teams for data collection and reporting
  • Responsible for reporting project KPIs in SAP and PMERL
  • Responsible for facilitating project yearly evaluation
  • Responsible for conducting project quarterly/ annual review and feedback meetings with the Team on the SPADs

Job Summary

The Project Engineer – Infrastructure, Shelter & Settlement will support research coordination, technical advice and guidance to a wide range of program design and implementation issues in the area of Infrastructure, Shelter and Settlement in line with CRS program quality principles and standards, donor guidelines, and industry best practices to Country Program (CP) teams to advance the delivery of high-quality programming to the poor and vulnerable in informal settlements in Freetown, Sierra Leone. Your technical knowledge, advice and guidance will contribute to advancing the implementation of the Transforming Lives initiative in collaboration with key project partners and stakeholders. Specific Job Responsibilities

 

Assessment

  • Implement technical assessment for shelter.
  • Prepare detailed cost estimates and unit prices for technical standards to support overall program decision-making.
  • Assess what agency resources (staff, material and financial) will be required for the planned activities and to keep senior management informed.

Program Design

  • Implement program methods and operational plans in accordance with the agreed construction strategy.  Ensure that all construction activities are developed in coordination with other sector teams, as appropriate.
  • Prepare appropriate design, construction and monitoring methods which draw upon the best practices of CRS; ensure that all CRS construction programs comply with relevant local, national and international standards and regulations, and reflect agency best practices.
  • Oversee the development and use of program documentation and tools, in accordance with agency best.
  • Ensure that environmental and sustainability issues are considered in the program design, in keeping with agency best practices and the guidelines.

Project Management and Implementation

  • Implement and oversee all construction programming, including technical assessments, project development and design, tendering and contract administration.
  • Assist and support the development of project documentation, including project development tools, technical designs and cost plans, tender and contract documentation, project tracking tools, and program budgets.
  • Manage construction staff, and collaborate with partners and communities, in developing and implementing projects. Incorporate CRS program staff and partner staff capacity into all aspects of project design, development and implementation.
  • Implement and oversee the selection and management of service suppliers and construction contractors to complement the capacity of the CRS construction team.
  • Under direction of the Engineering and Construction Program Manager, participate in the procurement and logistics process for materials and equipment required by the construction program.
  • Ensure compliance with quality, safety, and environmental standards for all projects, in keeping with internationally agreed best practices or as otherwise outlined in agency guidelines.
  • Liaise with key non-government organizations (NGOs) and national, provincial, and local government, task-force teams and workshops, technical committee meetings, and coordination groups as necessary.
  • Participate in CRS meetings and workshops on strategic planning, construction programming, and agency-wide initiatives as requested by supervisor.
  • Prepare and assist in the preparation of concept papers, project documents and other material to develop or promote the construction programming. This may include taking a supporting role in reviewing proposals and concept papers submitted by CRS’ partners and assisting them in building project proposal and implementing capacity.

Information and Co-ordination

  • Prepare project reports as required by CRS, relevant Government coordination bodies, external donors, and other interested parties.  Provide project documents, operation plans, program schedules and budgets as required by the Technical Advisor.
  • For all direct reports, develop a performance management plan on an annual basis; Provide performance guidance and feedback on a regular basis.
  • Represent CRS in discussions or meetings with government, non-government and UN agencies as directed or agreed by the Technical Advisor. Train and brief CRS staff, stakeholders, and others on construction issues.

Qualifications:

  • A Degree or similar professional qualification in an Engineering discipline including Architecture, Construction Management or a related technical field is mandatory.
  • A minimum of five years design and/or construction experience, including a minimum of two years site supervision and contract management, plus a preferred minimum of two years experience in developing and implementing shelter or community infrastructure projects on behalf of development organizations.
  • Experience in community development, community mobilization, or similar self-help initiatives, and a desire to maximize integration of program delivery, is preferred.
  • Highly knowledgeable in appropriate construction administration systems and procedures, in particular control of works and financial management.
  • Familiarity with current standards and guidelines for humanitarian emergency response, including the Sphere Handbook criteria.
  • A proven track record in managing large teams of technical personnel.
  • An interest in and ability to build capacity in implementing teams, local partners and community bodies, with a focus on community participation.
  • Ability to work in partnership with local communities and NGOs as appropriate.
  • An awareness of local construction technologies and materials.
  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills.  Ability to read, analyze and interpret administrative reports, technical procedures, or government regulations.

BACKGROUND

 

Present in Sierra Leone since 1999, IRC supports Sierra Leonean institutions – government, civil society, community-based organizations, and private sector – to provide improved social services, decrease youth unemployment and mitigate gender-based violence.  The IRC does this through programs and partnerships designed to improve the lives of women, youth, and children by implementing Health, Education, and Women and Girls’ Protection and Empowerment (WGPE) programming.  IRC.  IRC has a Country Program office in Freetown, a Regional Field Office in Kenema, Field Offices in Kono and Bo, and a satellite office in Kailahun. IRC will be working through civil society partners in Falaba district, and Karena district in the northern region of Sierra Leone.

 

The IRC in partnership with UNICEF Sierra Leone will be implementing a whole-school approach project to support the achievement of ending  School-Related Gender-Based Violence in Sierra Leone.  This project will seek to address the problem of SRGBV using an approach that will be guided by recommendations from 6 domains for minimum standards for a whole-school approach to minimizing SRGBV based on the UNICEF report on findings from school-related gender-based violence action research in schools and communities in Sierra Leone as well as IRC’s long experience of working in schools and communities in Sierra Leone on GBV and its consequences, especially for school-aged girls.  The project will align itself with the Ministry of Basic and Secondary Education’s objective 4 in its Education Sector Plan 2022 – 2026 which specifically seeks to  “Provide safe, healthy, and conducive educational environments”.

 

Job Summary 

Reporting to the Project Manager, the Senior Project Officer will be responsible for the day-to-day direct implementation of all components of the project activities within targeted rural communities in the district. S/he will be responsible for establishing and developing informal groups, in and outside of the school setting; community groups within communities including working with men and boys in the project communities and will carry out on-the-ground facilitation of the IRC’s project interventions with these clients. She/he will be involved in community mobilization, sensitization, and advocacy programs, and interface with school authorities, traditional institutions, religious leaders, community leaders, and local government authorities towards ensuring quality implementation of all the project components at the community levels. Working with the M & E Officers, S/he will collect reliable monitoring data in the target communities on a weekly and/or monthly basis in a timely manner.  As such, the Senior Project Officer will be based in the target communities and report directly to the Project Manager.

    1. with support from the Project Manager, work on the establishment of Safe Spaces within schools for the implementation of life skills, and participate in weekly activities, including competitions, games, debates, and drama, and life skills sessions utilizing the IRC’s evidence-based Girl Shine and Empowering Adolescent Boys for Accountable Practice (EBAP) curricula in a safe, comfortable, and confidential manner and environment.
    2. Organise and conduct training for school heads, teachers, community leaders, school mentors, and school boards on GBV core concepts, Positive Parenting, Child Rights Act, School Safety Policy, and Teachers Code of Conduct, etc.
    3. Awareness raising on child protection; support to community child protection committees using IRC’s procedures.
    4. Ensure IRC’s case management service follows proper case management steps, referrals, and documentation are happening in a timely and quality manner.
    5. Supervise and regularly monitor the school and community facilitators, the GBV Focal points, and community Case Management Workers.
    6. With support from the Project Manager, ensure all aspects of programming follow best practice.

 

  • Work directly with established groups and communities across all aspects of programming, including:
    1. Data collection with support and guidance from the M&E Officer
    2. Community engagement and mobilization
    3. Capacity building – training, workshops, and mentoring

JOB SUMMARY

Reporting to the Education Coordinator, the Project Manager will assume responsibility for management of the  project field staff and implementation of activities in Kenema or Kono the UNICEF School Related Gender Based Violence project..  S/he will coordinate with IRC’s other programs; and represent the  project in external meetings and related events in the  Kenema or Kono district.

SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES: 

Project Implementation

  • Oversee the day-to-day project implementation including logistics support and organization of activities – trainings, meetings, and workshops for staff, clients, and other stakeholders, in line with IRC and donor requirements.
  • Supervise and manage the Senior Project Officers, building their capacity in project implementation and ensuring a positive team spirit is fostered that encourages innovative and quality programming.
  • Oversee the District planning and implementation of daily activities in relation to child protection in accordance with the standard tools and IRC procedures.
  • Support in developing new/regular Child Protection Assessments in the project including revising tools, directing the Project staff on how to conduct these assessments, and preparing reports.
  • Implement capacity building approaches for the community leaders, government officials, and project staff, including strengthening referrals and care process for child survivors.
  • Develop actionable work plans to ensure the timely implementation of project activities, in collaboration with project team members.
  • Develop and maintain effective and productive working relationships with key stakeholders and represent IRC at meetings with stakeholders.
  • Report on performance and lead regular team meetings aimed at ensuring activities of the team members are coordinated and performed in a timely manner.
  • With support from Finance, Supply Chain  and Administrative staff, oversee financial activities including monitoring of the project budget through Budget vs. Actual monthly reviews, item forecasting, and procurement for project activities.

Monitoring, Evaluation, and reporting

    • Monitor progress toward the objectives and intended outputs of the project using routine data, spot checks, observation, and other methodologies.
    • Ensure timely data collection by project officers for analysis and use in periodic reporting and to inform project activities
    • Based on monitoring and feedback mechanisms, strengthen the quality, effectiveness, and responsiveness of program interventions.

QUALIFICATIONS

Education:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in International Development, Education, Sociology, Social Work or a related field.

Experience:

  • Proven practical work experience and knowledge on school-related GBV, gender, safe spaces, Life Skills,  men and boys and community engagement.
  • At least 3 years’ experience of managing, coordinating, or leading teams.
  • At least 2 years experience in basic administrative, logistical, and financial management, including basic budgeting, resource management and procurement processes.

Job Summary

The Monitoring and Evaluation Manager is responsible for technical supervision of and support to the establishment and maintenance of the routine project monitoring system.  This will include data management (focusing on database design, quality, aggregation & data presentation at the overall level and across locations), facilitating routine data collection, analysis & action planning, assisting in evaluation & assessment, and promoting Project knowledge management. She/he will report directly to the Country Project & E Coordinator and will have technical guidance from the Country Project MEL Coordinator. She/he will directly supervise the IRC M & E Officers.

Specific Responsibilities

 

Program/Project Design and learning:

  • With support from the M&E Coordinator, work with the Project Team and support staff to implement the Program’s M&E framework in line with IRC Monitoring for Action (MfA) standards, and ensure: (i) adherence to the matrix of indicators, (ii) roles and responsibilities of Project and support staff are mapped, (iii) ethical data collection, storage, sharing and securing of data are adhered to, (iv) documentation of data quality audits, (vi) analysis and harvesting of lessons learned from the project; and (vii) responsiveness to project clients’ feedback
  • Support the M&E Coordinator to develop, pilot, and validate tailored project implementation monitoring tools, monitor the quality of implementation, check Project records for accuracy, provide support where necessary, and share data with project managers.
  • With support from the M&E Coordinator as well as any other tools as required by the Project, establish, and maintain a project-level information management system; and collect project field-level information required by IRC, donors, and/or stakeholders.
  • Coordinate synergy and cross-learning among different field project sites.
  • Cross fertilizes learning among projects by regularly producing (compiling) summary monitoring data analysis reports/dashboards and sharing with staff and partners.

Monitoring

  • Track progress against project result framework, including targets, monitoring work plans, and project internal reporting schedules, and clarify what level of information is needed and where with key responsibilities assigned.
  • Ensure that the project work plan includes monitoring activities (and/or a stand-alone monitoring work plan is in place), is up-to-date, and keeps track of progress.
  • Conduct regular analysis and action planning meetings to (1) compare data against project milestones, targets, and expectations on all project sites, including data verification exercises to ensure reporting and collection of quality data.
  • Provide summarized monthly data analysis to support (i) making evidence-informed decisions; (2) identify issues requiring further attention, document and share challenges with project managers; (3) define the necessary actions and strategy to address challenges and assign responsibility and deadlines.
  • Update the Project M&E plan timely and provide feedback to Project staff on the status and quality of implementation. This includes following up with the Project team on Project quality improvement action plans to ensure action points are followed up and relevant measures taken and incorporated into programming, verify entered data for completeness, correctness, and consistency, and following up on any data quality issues.
  • Assist with monthly and/or quarterly performance indicator analysis, including generation of reports/dashboards as well as presentations during reflection forums for staff related to ongoing performance.
  • Provide technical assistance to project team members on the information management system, proper data collection, and record keeping; and provide consistent, supportive supervision to strengthen staff performance as necessary to meet monitoring objectives.
  • Conduct regular data verification exercises to ensure reporting and collection of quality data.
  • Periodically lead in the presentation of M&E data trends during reflective practice forums and data review meetings at the field office/ project level and gather lessons from project implementation processes.
  • Provide M&E inputs for reports written during project implementation at the field level and provide summarized monthly data analysis showing target against progress over time and conducting regular data verification exercises to ensure reporting and collection of quality data.
  • Follow up with project teams on project quality improvement action plans. Ensure action points are followed up and relevant measures taken and incorporated into programming; verify entered data for completeness, correctness, and consistency and follow up on any data quality issues.

Reviews / Evaluation & Learning

  • Under the technical leadership of the M&E Coordinator and with the support of the technical focal points, assist with the design, planning and implementation of on-time execution of projects major monitoring and evaluation events including field data supervision during baseline survey, mid-term evaluation, final evaluation.
  • Support in the compilation and analysis of programme data at the field level and contribute into subsequent reporting through monthly MEL reports, flagging updates, successes, and issues from the MEL tracking tools.
  • Coordinate the sharing of learning related to MEL practices across field offices, encouraging consideration of results both between and within sectorial teams, and providing support when internal/external reviews, evaluations, and lessons learned exercises should be employed.
  • Organize learning meetings, events, and workshops for project team to document lessons learnt, good practices and areas of improvement.
  • Support the implementation of processes to review the quality of existing project data, information collection methods and the suitability of the existing data for the provision of sound baseline information.
  • Maintain a tracking spreadsheet for M&E activities and events – baselines, assessments, reviews, evaluations – tracking trends and recommendations, progressing their implementation where appropriate.

Database management, Information Management and Reporting

  • Undertake preliminary data presentation & analysis.
  • Facilitate, present, and maintain an action plan during routine Project reviews for data while identifying noteworthy indicator trends.
  • Provide MIS content/requirements and feedback to project teams and document progress on indicators/achievement of targets using Indicator Performance Tracking Tables (IPTT)
  • Support project staff and partners and build their capacity in M&E issues and in the management of information systems, such as the development of required formats, key indicators, needs assessments, frameworks for evaluation, qualitative documentation of outcomes and impact of projects.

JOB REQUIREMENTS

EXPERIENCE:

  • Minimum three (3) years of experience in monitoring and evaluation in humanitarian and development sectors, preferably in education, protection, or GBV programming

JOB SUMMARY

Reporting to the Monitoring & Evaluation Manager, the M & E Officer is responsible for the collection and accurate inputting of information collected by the project field staff, and for supporting the overall data entry aspects of the project. He/she will provide direct support to the M & E sector in creating/maintaining the corresponding data-collection tools and systems. The M & E Officer will work closely with the M &E Manager to maintain quality assurances of data collected. She/he will do follow-up monitoring visits to communities as required. The M&E Officer will oversee the day-to-day M&E tasks arising in the field and provide technical support to field teams to ensure the effective implementation of the project.

With funding from the CRS Advancing Local Leadership in the Right Way (ALL Right) Fund, CRS Sierra Leone  will support Caritas Makeni Sierra Leone (CMSL) to become a leading organization in promoting inclusive  education by integrating Inclusion into programming with an increased advocacy capacity to influence  inclusive education in the North and North-West regions in Sierra Leon.

Through the ALL Right project, CRS will support CMSL to strengthen its institutional capacity to ensure that the  organization has the operational and technical systems and staff to implement high-quality projects that  integrate inclusion into programming with an increased advocacy capacity to influence inclusive education in  communities they operate. The ALL Right project complements and builds on years of capacity-strengthening  activities that CRS and CMSL have implemented together.

Job Summary:  

You will lead designs, implements, and evaluates capacity strengthening initiatives that build the  programmatic and managerial effectiveness of partners. The CRS Sierra Leone Partners Capacity Building  Officer responds to the call of the CRS Principles of Partnership to support the needs of local partners to  improve partner systems, structure, management, policies and procedures to build the effectiveness of  partners to serve the poor. S/he models CRS’s partnership principles and works to strengthen partner  capacity in a way that respects partner autonomy.

The person will support Local Leadership Partners Capacity Strengthening Unit (LLPCS)to utilize CRS  resources, staff, and management tools to strengthen partner organizations and improve relations between  CRS and its local partners; in-line with the CRS Local leadership strategy and requested needs of the partners.

S/he will also support on supervisory trainings on organizational development that includes program  oversight, internal system strengthening (human resources, finance, procurement notably) , governance,  advocacy and growth to improve program quality and internal controls and strengthen partners’ access to  competitive funding opportunities.

Specific Responsibilities:  

  1. Leads the annual/monthly planning and implementation of capacity strengthening activities; Sub  Recipient Financial Management Policy (SRFMP) assessment and partners monitoring visit to ensure  high quality performance targets and adherence to standards, best practices and donor guidelines.
  2. Help evaluate subrecipient financial management and internal controls processes in accordance with  SRFMP policy and help strengthen capacity of partner in SRFMP financial and internal controls for  organizational efficiency.
  3. Set and monitor sound financial and internal controls procedures for grant subrecipients and  partners following established SRFMP standards and best practices. Assess, evaluate and monitor  subrecipient financial management processes in accordance with SRFMP policy and strengthen  capacity of partner in financial transactions and internal controls.
  4. Support in the development and monitoring of Institutional Capacity Improvement Plans (ICIPs), this  includes monitoring and updating ICIPs trackers to ensure all actions are implemented within the  implementation period. Works with partners and CRS staff to address identified weaknesses in  programs/projects, to address audit findings, or other management quality (MQ)-related  shortcomings during ICIPs Implementations
  5. Help share information with subrecipients and staff on SRFMP financial accounting and internal  controls policies and procedural compliance and deliver trainings and other capacity building  activities for partners.
  6. Participate in field activities such as monitoring and evaluations, strategic planning processes to  ensure an appropriate approach to partner capacity strengthening activities and initiatives.  Effectively track the progress made on the ICIPs and help facilitates the support needed to close  ICIPs within the set timeframe.
  7. Works with LLPCS staff to apply and share learnings from standardized approaches and best  practices in strengthening the capacity of local partners, demonstrate trust and mutual respect when  engaging partners and coordinating the strengthening of partner capacity.
  8. Represents CRS’s capacity strengthening initiatives externally with partners, the government, peer  organizations, and donor agencies.

 

Education and Experience:  

▪ BSc. degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, Business Administration strongly preferred. Courses  in accounting, or a qualification in accounting (CPA/ACCA or equivalent).

▪ · Minimum of two years accounting experience, preferably with an international or local NGO, or a  financial/banking institution.

▪ Work experience in project support in Partnership and Capacity Strengthening with progressive  responsibilities, ideally with an international NGO.

▪ Understanding and application of technical principles and concepts in partnership and capacity  strengthening. Good knowledge of related disciplines to ensure proper cross-sectoral approach.

▪ Demonstrated ability to transfer knowledge to diverse audiences through organizational change  processes, coaching, mentoring, training, and other formal and non-formal methods in a diverse and  multi-cultural team setting.

▪ Basic experience with program monitoring and evaluation including development of indicators, data  collection tools and methodologies, data analysis, and data presentation.

▪ Demonstrated experience and skills to represent the organization at the high levels meetings with  donors, government, international NGOs, local partners – faith-based and civil society.  Understanding of partnership principles.

▪ Proficient in MS Office packages (Excel, Word, PowerPoint), Web Conferencing Applications and  strong understanding of information and budget management systems and knowledge-sharing  networks.

Job Summary:  

You will manage the ALL Right project for Sierra Leone Country programme, implementing activities in line  with the program implementation plan that advances capacity strengthening to better serve the poor and  vulnerable access to inclusive education in Sierra Leone. Your management skills and knowledge will ensure  that the ALL Right project delivers high-quality programming and continuously works towards improving the  impact of its programming, with a lasting impact on CMSL’s leadership capacity.

Specific Responsibilities: 

  1. Manage and implement all activities throughout relevant project cycles – start-up, implementation,  and close-out – to ensure efficient and effective implementation in line with CRS program quality  principles and standards, donor requirements, and good practices. Ensure project staff uses the  appropriate systems and tools.
  2. Provide strategic leadership in the development, identification and dissemination of standardized  approaches and best practices to implement the capacity strengthening strategy of the project. Ensure timely identification of technical assistance needs and coordinate within CRS Sierra Leone and externally to mobilize the appropriate assistance for capacity strengthening tailored towards CMSL  identified needs.
  3. Work with the staff of relevant program, MEAL, Gender, Communication, and Operations  departments, to develop/adapt and provide capacity building and institutional strengthening  support for caritas Makeni Sierra Leone, based on partner needs and CRS best practices.  Develop/adapt, provide, and/or oversee capacity-strengthening activities with partners, including  accompaniment and mentoring.
  4. Ensure the effective sharing of information, including key decisions, status updates, successes, and  challenges, with the appropriate people within CRS and CMSL (in keeping with situational demands  and the requirements of established agreements).
  5. Ensure appropriate application of CRS’ partnership and capacity strengthening principles, concepts, tools, and approaches.
  6. Act as a key resource person in project design and proposal development in respective  programming area, gap-filling and taking on growth responsibilities as needed.
  7. Champion learning with project staff and partner teams, including through quality planning and  facilitation of quarterly project review and planning meetings and other formal and informal  opportunities for learning. Analyze and evaluate project performance data following MEAL  policy. Proactively identify issues and concerns and use participatory processes and appropriate  engagement of CRS and partner leadership to overcome implementation obstacles.
  8. Coordinate and monitor financial and material resources relevant to project needs. Through  planning and oversight, ensure efficient use of project resources. Provide leadership for project financial management, including budget planning, analysis, and reporting, in coordination with partner staff and finance colleagues.

Education and Experience:  

▪ Master’s degree in international development, international relations, or related field required.  Additional experience may substitute for some education.

▪ Minimum of 5 years of relevant field-based experience in coordinating or managing light to  moderately complex projects required, preferably with an international NGO.

▪ Experience collaborating or working with local development or humanitarian actors, with specific  experience strengthening the capacity of local/national organizations required.

Required Languages: Strong written and spoken English required.

Travel: Travel to project location (Makeni) cis required as needed to attend program-related activities  (accompaniment, trainings, meetings and workshops).

Must be willing and able to travel up to 50%.

Job Summary  

As one of the leaders for the Global Fund project Field Operations will facilitate the achievement of project  objectives through coordinating, and relationship-building, with all district government and non-government  strategic partners in Health, Education, local councils, agriculture, and traditional leaders at all levels, and  reporting on all project activities and providing technical guidance and advice to staff and implementing  partner(s) advancing Catholic Relief Services (CRS) work serving the poor and vulnerable. Your coordination  and relationship management skills will ensure that the project for which you are responsible applies best  practices and constantly works towards improving the impact of its benefits to those we serve.

 

Roles and Key Responsibilities: 

  • Organize and lead the implementation of all assigned project activities as outlined in the detailed  implementation plan in line with CRS program quality principles and standards, donor requirements,  and good practices.
  • Ensure learning properly accompanies project activities throughout the project cycle. Support  accountability through coordinating project evaluation activities and guiding partners in their efforts  to reflect on project experiences. Analyze implementation challenges and report any inconsistencies  and/or gaps to inform adjustments to plans and implementation schedules.
  • Coordinate and oversee working relationships with all local project stakeholders and serve as the liaison between them and the project team to mobilize local actors and promote project activities and impact.
  • Supervise and perform ad-hoc inspections of various processes and resources at project sites to ensure  timely project activities implementation and adherence to established process standards and  procedures. Ensure proper tracking of resource use for project activities through periodic budget  reviews and follow-up with and assistance to implementing partner.
  • Support and coordinate capacity building and technical support activities to ensure assigned project activities are implemented per project guidelines and standards.
  • Coordinate the provision of any logistical and administrative support to staff and partners.
  •  Ensure project documentation for assigned activities is complete with all required documents and is  filed per agency and donor requirements. Assist with the preparation of trends analysis reports and  documentation of case studies and promising practices.

 

Other Specific Responsibility:

Under the overall supervision of the Global Fund Project Director and directly reporting to the Program  Manager, the Zonal Coordinator will serve as a team member and be responsible to support and ensure the  implementation of all Global Fund NFM3 and C-19RM project activities in an assigned Zone. A Zone is made  up of 3 or more districts. In particular, the Zonal Coordinator will support and monitor the implementation of  IEC/BCC (Mass Media and Community Outreach) by Sub Recipients and national surveys under the Global Fund  grant.

 

Support implementation and Coordination 

  • Ensure objective selection of clubs when sampling.
  • Coordinate with the Program Manager, MEAL Manager, and the Global Fund NFM3/C-19RM  Program Director to report on barriers to implementation in the field and provide inputs to problem solving.
  • Participate in and coordinate with SRs to report progress during DHMT monthly coordination  meetings.
  • Actively seek to understand the main interventions being promoted by other development actors in  the assigned operational area and ensure coordination.
  • Compile, analyze, and present zonal-level information on BCC/IEC activities for reporting program  progress.
  • As part of risk management, verify implementation and review SRs reports to ensure the accuracy of  reports and field operations.
  • Consistently use recommendations from trip reports to structure partner capacity building. • Capture and report on program challenges, major decisions, lessons learned, and best practices  gathered from monthly DHMT coordination meetings.
  • Provide a copy of the agreed monthly summary data as part of their report to the CRS Global Fund  MEAL Manager.
  • Identify and report on any gaps or weaknesses in BCC and mass media reporting and monitoring  systems.

 

Monitoring, Evaluation, and Research 

  • Monitor Sub-Recipients (SRs) at a district level to report to the assigned MEAL Manager on program  implementation.
  • Conduct monitoring visits to project implementation sites:

Observe 15 School and Community Health Clubs every month.

15 CAAMTA communities

Check on the work of Religious and Traditional leaders – record achievements and challenges.

Observe outreach activities, verify supporting documentation.

Provide supportive supervision, sharing observations.

Document observations during visits and make recommendations

  • Consistently conduct entry meetings prior to monitoring SRs explaining objectives
  •  Consistently conduct exit meetings/ debrief with key SRs staff to share and validate findings and  recommendations
  • Systematically ensure timely and quality reporting by SRs in the operational area.
  •  Monitor the use of standardized CRS reporting forms and suggest adaptations as required.
  •  Monitor and document BCC/IEC activities implemented through the media (Radio, TV, etc.)
  •  Support the conduct of surveys (small- and large-scale studies)

 

Capacity Strengthening of Sub Recipients  

  • Support the development of program implementation and monitoring tools and lead the roll-out of  the tools in assigned districts.
  • Support the Project Staff to facilitate capacity-building sessions with the SRs, especially in reporting  and project implementation.

DHMT Support 

  • Work closely with the district health management teams (DHMTs) including the DHMT District Medical  Officers, the 3 disease focal persons (Malaria, TB & HIV/AIDS), Social Mobilizers, M&E Officers, and  other key partners to ensure that SBCC and outreach activities are included in the planning and  management of the districts
  • Ensure linkages between PHU staff, CHWs, and CLMs with CRS structures within the communities  (These include SHCs, CHCs, CAAMTA Religious and Traditional leaders) as appropriate • Linkages between DHMTs, SRs, and other partners

Representation 

  • Establish strong working relationships with SRs, DHMTs, and other stakeholders. • Participate in District Health Management coordination meetings, technical working groups, and  general meetings.
  • Represent the program at various levels as delegated by supervisors.

Position summary  

The Programme Officer will serve as principal assistants to the DPM. He/s will support the implementation of all FoRUT programme/projects at the field level. S/he will be part of the program team and should have the ability to implement a multi-disciplined project in tandem with FoRUT’s program/project priorities.

 

Key Responsibilities

 

Duties and key responsibilities 

  1. Assist the DPM to implement project/programme activities at the district and to support the delivery of all programme/project objectives and outputs.

 

2. Assist the DPM to Develop district annual and operational plans from the Annual Work Plan of FoRUT and assist with its implementation on a quarterly or periodic basis;

 

3. Assist the DPM to design and roll-out community sensitization/awareness raising activities on rights and protection issues

 

4. Collect and analyse data on relevant  programme activities.

 

 

5. Build relationships with other relevant stakeholders such as CSOs, CBOs, MDAs, NGOs, traditional and religious leaders who may contribute to achievement of programme objectives.

6. Ensure FoRUT participate in coalitions, networks and alliances at district level

 

7. Participate in and contribute to organisational leaning and development of FoRUT.

 

 

8. Monitor all civil works including construction of water wells, schools and latrines and submit monitoring reports to the DPM;

 

9. ,Assist to roll-out strategies and activities for women and other marginalized groups to demand for their rights including right to participate in democratic and governance processes, sexual and reproductive health rights

 

 

10. Submit timely periodic updates and case studies on projects’ outcomes

 

11. Other duties that may be assigned from time to time by the DPM.

 

Education 

A University degree, preferably in social sciences with major in Agricultural Science or related disciplines. Minimum of three years of experience in similar positions, preferably in NGOs. Experience with right-based advocacy work and livelihoods/child rights/ women’s rights issues/mental health are required.

Abilities required.

Good interpersonal skills, ability to network and form partnerships with institutions and individuals and establish a relationship of trust with local communities.

Analytical mind and ability to study and understand new environments and systems

Ability to work under pressure and willingness to spend a considerable portion of the working time in the field.

Job Title:   Advocacy & Communication Officer (ACO)

Position summary 

The Advocacy and Communication Officer (ACO) is responsible of planning, implementing, monitoring and reporting of FoRUT’s advocacy and communications activities. The ACO is part of the programme team charged with the implementation of the 2023-2028 work programme. S/he will implement activities that aimed at reducing harm from alcohol and drug use. S/he will coordinate district chapters of Sierra Leone Alcohol Policy Alliance (SLAPA) and People Power Movement Sierra Leone (PPM SL) as per the Alliances’ mission and mandate. S/he will ensure that FoRUT participate in networks, coalitions and alliances that aimed to promote women and children’s rights, accountability and good governance and mental health.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Research on and submit discussion papers, policy briefs for advocacy and policy engagements with diverse stakeholders on all Programme/Project and Institutional thematic areas.
  2. Lead in the implementation of FoRUT’s communications and advocacy strategies at local and national levels
  3. Regularly update FoRUT’s, SLAPA and PPM SL social media platforms including its website
  4. Liaise with District Programme Managers of FoRUT, Civil Society Organizations (CSOs) and CBOs to mobilize right holders in holding duty bearers accountable for development outcomes.
  5. Organize periodic engagements with Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs) of government, Parliament and CSOs for the formulation/review of policies and legislations that promote right / development issues.
  6. Coordinate district chapters of SLAPA and PPM SL as per the Alliances’ mission and mandate
  7. Ensure that FoRUT participate in coalitions, alliances and networks that promote rights and accountability issues.
  8. Liaise with national and regional, sub regional alliances including the West African Alcohol Policy Alliance (WAAPA), West African Drug Policy Network in reducing harm from alcohol and drug use.
  9. Monitor MDAs in promoting rights and accountability as enshrined on FoRUT’s strategic objectives.
  10. Any other duties as may be assigned by the Executive Director and Head of Programme of FoRUT as and when required.

SLRCS is seeking talented, hard-working, and dynamic Sierra Leoneans for the position of Project Officer – Tree Planting and Care Projects

Date required: June. Duty station: Freetown with frequent travels to Kono, Bonthe, Pujehun, Bo, Kenema and Moyamba.

Fixed term – Six months with possible extension based on performance.

 

JOB SUMMARY:

The post holder will be responsible for initiating, planning, coordinating, implementing, and monitoring tree planting and care projects, in accordance with exiting national policies and regulations. The post holder will source funding opportunities for the programme and promote the active participation of the public, working closely with relevant ministries at districts and community levels, councils, community-based disaster management committees, volunteers and their coaches, and other pro- agroforestry organizations in Kono, Bonthe, Pujehun, Bo, Kenema and Moyamba.

Main Duties: 

  • Develop innovative engagement and educational initiatives in association with
    environmental enhancement projects.
  • Conduct targeted outreach to increase tree planting opportunities on publicly and privately owned land.
  • Create and build relationships with partners/stakeholders to develop a robust database of landowners and corresponding planting sites.
  • Generate agreements/contracts with landowners to plant trees.
  • Conduct nursery site visits.
  • Help to ensure that sites are properly prepared for planting.
  • Supervise planting and tending activities.
  • Assess planting and tending works and contractors.
  • Conduct survival assessments.
  • Manage program databases by entering project information.
  • General office duties and record keeping.
  • Preparation of complex project reports such as monthly, quarterly and annual reports.
  • Organise plans and prioritise workloads effectively.
  • Other duties as assigned by senior officers of the national society.

Physical Abilities

  • Must be able to work in inclement weather and variable site conditions.
  • Working some weekends and evenings to meet with landowners, complete planting operations or to work at fairs or other public gatherings to promote the Tree planting and weekend programme.

Education and Experience

  • Graduate from a forestry program or other environmental program preferred.
  • Minimum of 2-3 years relevant experience.
  • Computer skills and good knowledge of MS-Word, MS Access, MS-Excel, and PowerPoint presentations.
  • Strong attention to detail and organization skills in order to juggle both event pre-planning and accuracy in manipulating and tabulating partner/funding agency data.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills in English.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Strong commitment to championing protection of the environment.

 

Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities  

  • The post holder would be expected to demonstrate experience of managing and co-
    ordinating high value agroforestry projects in partnership with Ministries, Departments and Agencies of the Government of Sierra Leone.
