ActionAid Sierra Leone has secured a two- and half-year grant from the European Union and will be implemented in Bo, Bombali and Kono.

 

The Project: The proposed project, “Enhancing CSO participation in governance and national level policy processes”. which is funded by the European Union (EU) seeks to facilitate more inclusive CSO participation in dialogue with the government on development policy and practice by supporting CSOs and their networks to create an enabling environment for civil society to operate as actors of good governance at all levels. Lead agency AASL will work with co-applicants Advocate for Social Justice and Development (ASJD) and Women’s Action for Human Dignity (WAHD).

 

ActionAid Sierra Leone (AASL) is looking for qualified, experienced, and self-motivated persons to fill in the below positions;

Position : Safeguarding Officer (1)
Reports to : Head of HROD and Administration with a dotted reporting to the Project Manager
Supervises : No One
Location : Freetown with travel to the field as required

Job Purpose: The Safeguarding Officer, reporting to the Head of HROD and Administration who is also the SHEA and Safeguarding Focal Person. Safeguarding Officer is responsible for the implementation of safeguarding projects; safeguarding risk man supporting; support of a network of Designated Safeguarding Leads; and promoting the safe practice in line with the ActionAid International Safeguarding Policy and sector-wide recommendations. The position liaises with the Designated Safeguarding Leads and relevant partner organizations to provide them with required resources, capacity-building support, and training. This position also supports with every aspect of the employment process, including orientation and training nof ew staff members.

 

Person Specifications:

Qualification: A post-graduate degree in Social Sciences, Local Governance or Public Administration from a recognized institution with a minimum of five (5) years of postgraduate experience.

 

Essential Experience & Knowledge: •

  • A Bachelor’s degree in Social Sciences gained from a recognized University (i.e. in either Sociology, or Development Studies, or Political Science, or Public Administration, or International Relations, or Public Policy, Law, Human Rights or relevant disciplines).
  • At least 2 years’ experience in Safeguarding work within an International NGO
  • Experience developing and implementing organizational policies and procedures
  • A practical understanding of safeguarding and how to create safe environments
  • Experience working in an international development setting and an understanding of the safeguarding risks faced by our project participants and partners (desirable, not essential)
  • An understanding of social inclusion (desirable, not essential)
  • Experience traveling or working in with local communities is an added advantage

Save the Children is recruiting for an upcoming, anticipated project, Community Engagement for all Children’s Improved Education (CECIE).  The project seeks to improve access, safety, learning, and sexual and reproductive health (SRH) outcomes of adolescent girls and children with disability across six districts: Kailahun, Pujehun, Bo, Moyamba, Falaba, and Tonkolili. The anticipated project would be implemented by a consortium of 6 national and international partners over a period of 5 years.

The Project Director will provide strategic leadership to the project, ensuring intended outcomes are met in accordance with the overall agreement and internationally recognised quality standards. The postholder will lead the project implementation team and consortium partners, maintaining a work environment that promotes teamwork, trust, and mutual respect. This position will coordinate and communicate with relevant high-level stakeholders throughout the project.  In addition to program management experience, the role will require strong community engagement, gender equality, and social inclusion experience.

QUALIFICATIONS

EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS

Essential

  • At least 10 years of relevant programming experience, with 5 of these in management roles: gender equality, community engagement, social accountability, adolescent sexual reproductive health, girls’ education, youth-focused programming, community development, and/or related programming.
  • At least 5 years of experience in community-centred programming, which may include community engagement, community mobilisation, social/behaviour/norms change, social accountability.
  • Experience in managing consortia or working with partners, managing partner contracts and relationships, ensuring mutual and institutional capacity building, joint monitoring, etc.
  • Significant experience in programming that substantively integrates components of gender equality, social inclusion, and social accountability.
  • Proven experience in all aspects of programme management, including design, planning, implementation, and monitoring/evaluation.
  • Financial management of programme grants and budgets of over 4-5 million USD is an advantage.
  • Substantial experience in maintaining external relations with government and community stakeholders.
  • Experience in managing programme teams across multiple geographic sites, including staff development, coaching, and performance management.
  • Experience in monitoring and evaluation, use of qualitative and quantitative data to analyse progress in programmes, and the use of logical or results frameworks, theories of change, etc.

3.) Gender Equality Technical Specialist

The Role: Gender Equality Technical Specialist – Community Engagement for all Children’s Improved Education (CECIE)

Save the Children is recruiting for an upcoming, anticipated project, Community Engagement for all Children’s Improved Education (CECIE).  The project seeks to improve access, safety, learning, and sexual and reproductive health (SRH) outcomes of adolescent girls and children with disability across six districts: Kailahun, Pujehun, Bo, Moyamba, Falaba, and Tonkolili. The anticipated project would be implemented by a consortium of 6 national and international partners over a period of 5 years.

The Gender Equality Technical Specialist role will lead strategy development and the technical design and implementation of high-quality programmes that advance gender equality and ensure that children, girls and boys can equitably access, participate within, benefit from and act as decision makers for both emergency and development programming. The postholder will use their in-depth contextual understanding, technical and practical expertise, and relationship building skills to define and deliver our strategic ambition for advancing gender equality in Sierra Leone. The role supports national advocacy and influencing, while driving strategic partnerships for new business development.  It provides leadership to ensure our work is grounded on intersectional gender and power analysis, and supports the design and implementation of gender transformative monitoring and evaluation systems to demonstrate impact, while sharing learning across our programmes, teams and partners.  The role will work closely with operations colleagues and with partners, especially women’s/girls’ rights and gender equality-focused organizations, in Sierra Leone, fostering the building of ownership and agency of local organisations.  S/he is responsible for supporting the integration of SCI gender equality approaches in the country office new and ongoing projects. This may include ensuring gender mainstreaming throughout the project’s results-based management frameworks, strengthening and supporting gender equality strategies and facilitating gender equality capacity strengthening for partners and SCI staff including tool development. It will provide leadership to design/adapt and deliver gender transformative content for capacity building and system strengthening. This role includes a focus on external representation on priority issues including child-centred gender and power analysis, girls’ empowerment, gender-based violence and other topics central to gender transformative child rights-based approaches across thematic areas. In the event of a major humanitarian emergency, the role holder will be expected to work outside the normal role profile and be able to vary working hours accordingly.

1.) Safety and Security Officer

The Role: Safety and Security Officer

Save the Children (SCI) is recruiting hard-working and energetic man or woman to serve as Safety and Security Officer at the Coordination Office. The role holder will facilitate the implementation of SCI Safety and Security Policies and Standards within country programmes; and contribute to building country compliance within safety and security Minimum Standards.

The Safety and Security Officer will work closely with the Safety, Security and Administration Manager (SSAM) to ensure assessments carry out, make recommendations and provide support to the implementation of country programmes.  S/He will work with the SSAM to facilitate and drive systemic change in the quality of safety and security management and contribute to building country compliance with safety and security Minimum Standards.  The Postholder will also take forward the Organizational security ethos.  While on assignment, the post holder will play key role in the capacity building of Safety & Security Focal Points; participate in an emergency and support the SSAM, SMT and team leader. He/she will maintain a permanent contact with the SSAM, who will be his/her line manager.

3.) Field Supply Chain Officer

The Role: Field Supply Chain Officer is responsible and accountable for the delivery of an effective and efficient supply chain in the field office.  The job holder is the champion for the implementation of the procurement, warehouse, and asset management function in the region. He/she will ensure that there is timely service delivery to the field programmes in line with SC supply chain policies, procedures, principles, and guidelines. The Role: Financial Accountant

Save the Children is recruiting hard-working and experienced Financial Accountant that will support the coordination office Finance team with the financial operation function that will enable the team to deliver efficient and compliant financial management support to the entire country program.

The Financial Accountant role is primary aim to ensure that disbursements made to partners, suppliers and staffs are initiated by an appropriate source document and authorized and approved by Budget Holders within the Scheme of Delegation. Our Work In Sierra Leone:

Partners In Health (PIH) began supporting the government of Sierra Leone in response to the Ebola epidemic in October 2014. Recognizing the large need for continued investments in the health system after Ebola, PIH is committed to long-term health system strengthening in support of the Ministry of Health and Sanitation (MOHS), guided by the same principles as our emergency response and our work around the world: public sector accompaniment, integrated and comprehensive services, social justice, nimbleness and flexibility, partnership, community ownership, and evidence-based interventions. In the aftermath of the epidemic, PIH is committed to supporting the delivery of comprehensive health services in Sierra Leone, from the community level to the health center and to referral hospitals.

Position Overview

Secures premises and personnel by patrolling property; monitoring surveillance equipment; inspecting buildings, equipment, and access points; permitting entry. Obtains help by sounding alarms. Prevents losses and damage by reporting irregularities; informing violators of policy and procedures; restraining trespassers.





Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Provide security and safety of all PIH facilities where you are deployed

Record daily occurrences of activities and only leave guard post when relieved by other personnel with proper handing over observed.

Responsible for detecting emergencies that can compromise the safety of guest house occupants (e.g fire hazards) and report it.

Monitor and authorize entrance and departure of , visitors, and other persons to guard against theft and maintain security of premises

Write reports of daily activities and irregularities, such as equipment or property damage, theft, presence of unauthorized persons, or unusual occurrences for submission to the Admin/Operations Manager

Call police or fire departments in cases of emergency.

Responsible for making calls to your supervisor when incidents occur.

Circulate among visitors, patrons, and employees to preserve order and protect property

Answer telephone calls or take messages, answer questions, and provide information during non-business hours

Should be flexible and nimble.

Should be a good communicator with interpersonal skills

Should be able to work in a team and work under less supervision

Warn persons of rule infractions or violations, and apprehend or evict violators from premises.

Sound an alarm to guest house occupants when you detect safety concerns that require their attention.





Inspect and adjust security systems, equipment, and machinery to ensure operational use and to detect evidence of tampering
