ACF has people centered approach and works with the affected communities in program development and implementations. Currently Action Against Hunger is implementing integrated food security, nutrition, health, WASH, and climate change adaption /mitigation projects in Bonthe and Western area districts.

Action Against Hunger is recruiting a suitably qualified Sierra Leonean as Senior Logistics Officer to implement the Country Office’s logistics policy, to ensure logistical performances and provide the best support to the programs in its area

KEY ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES :

Mission 1 : Provide logistics support to the base programs

  • Support requesters in the development of their purchase requests and stock release orders;
  • Provide technical support to PMs in the development of the terms of reference;
  • Prepare and supervise construction/rehabilitation work in the field;
  • Monitor requests with the supply team;
  • Support programs during the distributions;
  • Supervise the production of kits;
  • Support programs in their various technical logistics activities, as needed

Mission 2 : Ensure the proper functioning of the base’s fleet

    • Develop vehicle schedules based on program needs;
    • Prepare the planning of the drivers under his responsibility according to the number of vehicles to be covered, and update this planning according to the evolution of the requests or the constraints;
    • Prepare (administrative documents and loading) the vehicle’s movements off-base;
  • Ensure communication with the base staff on planned maintenance and inherent malfunctions.

Mission 3 : Ensure the maintenance and follow-up of the facilities

  • Ensure that the condition of the facilities is checked at regular intervals;
  • Supervise small repairs / rehabilitations;
  • Report on the need for major rehabilitation;
  • Report the needs for furniture/small equipment;
  • Ensure the supply of water and energy to all facilities required for the operation of the base and the living environment;
  • Monitor the contract’s management of facilities

Mission 4 : Manage the ICT resources of the base

  • Solve common user problems;
  • Ensure compliance with ICT standards on computers;
  • Supervise the data backup system (backup policy).

Mission 5 : Supervise the logistics team of the base

  • Organize the work of the base logistics department;
  • Manage the recruitment for the base logistics department;
  • Contribute to the development of the training plan;
  • Conducting the yearly evaluation interviews;
  • Provide technical support to the team as needed

Mission 6 : Reporting

  • Produce a complete monthly logistics report
  • Contract Follow-up
  • Equipment List
  • Fleet Management Report
  • Stock Follow-up

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Diploma or Bachelor in Logistics or Supply Chain Management or Procurement
  • 2 – 4 years of experience in a NGO Logistics Operation.

REQUIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

  • Excellent time management,
  • communication and customer handling skills
  • Good organizational skills.
  • Able to work under pressure and to meet tight deadlines.
  • Good computer skills, including Microsoft office: Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook

WORK CONDITIONS

STARTING DATE: November  2025 

HOUSING AND TRANSPORT ALLOWANCE: 15% of basic salary each

DURATION OF CONTRACT: One (1) Year with possible extensions  

LOCATION: Bonthewith frequent travels to Moyamba, Freetown, and other field areas

ABOUT US 

An International Non-governmental organization, Action Against Hunger has been working to fight undernutrition and support communities affected by crisis across the globe for over 40 years and across nearly 55 countries. Action Against Hunger established its presence in Sierra Leone in 1991 during the Civil War and since then it has been operational in the country by implementing various humanitarian and development programs related to health, nutrition, food security/livelihoods and advocacy geared towards the reduction of the prevalence rates of under-nutrition. The Sierra Leone Country office is based in Freetown, Sierra Leone overseeing the operations in Bonthe – Mattru Jong, Falaba and Moyamba.

ACF in partnership with 3 partners is rolling out an integrated, multi-sectoral climate change adaptation and mitigation project focusing on food security and livelihoods, WASH, nutrition and health, and environment across three districts (Moyamba, Bonthe – Mattru Jong, and Falaba).

Action Against Hunger is recruiting a suitably qualified Candidate as Environment and Climate Change Specialist to lead one of one of the result areas of the NuCAMPS project, providing technical oversight on mangrove restoration, woodlot establishment, clean energy promotion, and climate mitigation actions to enhance environmental sustainability and community resilience

KEY ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES : 

The Consortium Coordinator is responsible for coordinating the implementation and ensuring the representation of the NUCAMPS project in Sierra Leone, in liaison with implementing organizations and the head office, and in consultation with the state partners involved.

Specific Objectives:

Mission 1: Technical Leadership and Strategic Direction

  • Lead the development and implementation of the environmental and conservation components of the NUCAMPS program.
  • Ensure that environmental protection, climate change mitigation and adaptation, and resilience strategies are scientifically and technically sound, context-specific, and gender-responsive.
  • Oversee technical guidance to implementing partners on mangrove restoration, community woodlots, and energy-efficient cookstove initiatives.
  • Promote ecosystem-based adaptation approaches and integration with WASH, FSL, and Nutrition activities.
  • Contribute to national policy dialogue and advocacy efforts around climate and environmental governance.

Mission 2: Program Design and Planning

  • Lead and support field assessments to identify intervention sites and ecological restoration needs.
  • Collaborate with local authorities, communities, and CSOs to design inclusive conservation plans.
  • Support the development of technical proposals, environmental baselines, and feasibility studies for project areas.
  • Identify areas of synergies with other countries and regional climate and environment programs

Mission 3: Program Implementation and Quality Assurance

  • Provide continuous field-level supervision and remote technical support to implementing partners.
  • Ensure activities align with national environmental standards and are community-led.
  • Monitor the implementation of restoration activities and energy initiatives, ensuring measurable climate mitigation impact.
  • Promote use of nature-based solutions and environmental safeguards.

Mission 4: Monitoring, Learning and Innovation

  • Work with MEAL and technical teams to define key environmental indicators and ensure quality data collection.
  • Lead documentation of best practices, lessons learned, and community innovations in ecosystem restoration and climate action.
  • Drive technical reviews, reflection workshops, and field exchange visits across districts.

Mission 5: Stakeholder Engagement and Coordination

  • Represent Action Against Hunger/Consortium in environmental working groups, climate change platforms, and forestry networks at district and national levels.
  • Liaise with ministries (e.g., EPA-SL, Ministry of Environment, Forestry Department) and other stakeholders to align project goals.
  • Support cross-sectoral collaboration within the consortium and with national institutions.

REPORTING RESPONSIBILITIES
  • The position reports to the Consortium Coordinator
  • Support NUCAMPS MEAL Specialist in coordinating MEAL data collection as scheduled

POSITION REQUIREMENTS
QUALIFICATIONS
A Degree in Environmental Science, Forestry, Climate Change, Natural Resource Management, or related field. A Master degree is an advantage
SKILLS & EXPERIENCE
ESSENTIAL
  • At least 5 years’ experience implementing community-based environmental or climate projects.
  • Demonstrated technical expertise in mangrove or coastal restoration, agroforestry, climate mitigation, or clean energy promotion.
  • Experience working with local government, CSOs, and community-based organizations.
  • Familiarity with Sierra Leone’s environmental regulatory frameworks and climate adaptation policies.
  • Ability to lead partner capacity-building and train field teams on environmental methodologies.
  • Strong technical writing and reporting skills.
  • Project management and coordination experience.
  • Knowledge of participatory approaches and community engagement.
  • Strong interpersonal, facilitation, and communication skills.
  • Fluent in English and local language(s) knowledge is an asset.
  • Commitment to gender equality and environmental sustainability
PREFERRED
  • Master’s degree
  • Experience working with marginalized communities
  • knowledge of donors’ guidelines and procedures (IrishAid/Embassy of Ireland and others)

WORK CONDITIONS

STARTING DATE:  September 2025

REPORTING TO:   Consortium Coordinator

DURATION OF CONTRACT: Twelve(12) Months (Renewable)

LOCATION: Falaba with regular travel to  other field areas
