MiKashBoks is a pioneering mobile app startup empowering people to save, earn interest and build a better future for themselves and their community. Since our launch two years ago, our customer base has grown to over 23,000 people across Sierra Leone with active partnerships in Nigeria as well.

 

We are growing the business by selling through established networks (eg petty traders, mobile money agents) and we are building a sales team that can onboard and train agents effectively as ‘super referrers’ for MiKashBoks.

 

About the role

MiKashBoks is hiring an experienced Field Sales Representative to be the first point of contact to traders, mobile money agents and other community members, providing a mixture of sales and product support while also being engaged in community outreach and sensitization.

 

The role will include, but not be limited to the following:

 

Sales & Agent Activation

  • Generate leads by identifying individuals and businesses with strong community influence
  • Sell the value of using MiKashBoks and onboard new users directly via the app
  • Recruit and train high-potential agents (e.g., traders, mobile money agents) to become “super referrers”
  • Track daily, weekly, and monthly signups and referrals using provided tools
  • Assist agents in driving new user acquisition and achieving referral goals
  • Work closely with the sales team to execute local campaigns and meet field sales targets
  • Collect and document success stories and testimonials from the field

Field based support

  • Build relationships with savings groups, stakeholders, and trade associations in the community.
  • Support onboarding by assisting with product trainings and app setup.
  • Resolve first-level customer issues, and sensitize users on MiKashBoks’ benefits.
  • Log customer problems in the online support system and generate tickets for complex cases.
  • Liaise with the customer service and tech teams via Slack to escalate issues.
  • Document unusual errors and use internal tools (FAQs, flowcharts) to ensure consistent support.

About you

Successful candidates will have:

    • Demonstrated sales experience: A proven record of selling – identifying leads, nurturing them and closing the sale
    • Communication skills: Able to present the benefits of the app clearly and simply. Able to bridge customer needs and experiences to the MKB product and engineering teams. Excellent writing skills with proactive attention to detail
    • Action-oriented: creates solutions and sticks to tasks, ensures customer satisfaction
    • Customer Focus: dedicated to meeting the expectations and requirements of customers
    • Time Management Skills: prompt follow up to customer service skills, escalating issues when necessary, communicating internally on customer needs
    • Integrity and trust: able to keep customer information confidential and work independently, operate with the highest standards of ethics
  • Tech savvy: Able to learn new technology quickly and to guide customers through app installation and usage
  • Initiative and problem-solving: consistent desire to learn about the MiKashBoks platform. Desire to learn new skills and able to follow-up on tickets, bugs and open issues

Needed Skills

  • Full professional proficiency in English
  • Previous experience using customer support software
  • Knowledge of Whatsapp for Business, Slack, Facebook and Google Drive products including sheets, slides and docs
  • Experience working within informal communities
  • Previous experience working independently with a high degree of trust and integrity

The role will report directly to our Sales Coordinator.

 

The role will be based out of our office on Old Railway Line, however, you are expected to spend 80% of your time in the field.
