DBF is a Local Non-Governmental Organization that helps children, teenagers, and young people who live in situations of high vulnerability in the streets of Freetown. We listen to their plights and cries and holistically attend to their needs. We reunify them with their families and empower them through education and skills training.

Position: Environmental Field Officer— (Female Personnel) Eco-Project, Salone Green Alliance: Don Bosco Fambul. 

Location: Freetown, Sierra Leone

Contract Duration: Probation period of three (3) months and may be followed with a contract of   12 months depending on performance during the probationary period. The 12 monthly contract is renewable based on the availability of funds and performance.

Job description: The Environmental Field Officer—Eco Project: Salone Green Alliance is responsible for the most specialized activities in the field of the environment such as training, container management, plantations, cleaning battles, awareness campaign, and celebration of environmental days or days.    

Responsibilities 

• Organizing training activities and awareness campaign
• She is responsible for the management of containers, plantations, and cleaning activities.
• Serve as a technical advisor on environmental policies and standards to ensure regulatory applicability.
• Conduct research and technical audits on the environmental impact of the project, analyze data and perform quality control checks.
• Develop resources management schemes.
• Integrate latest technologies into systems.
• Work with the concerned staff and partners to ensure effective implementation of the project and timely reporting.
• Monitor progress and provide recommendations reports
• Provide system and component design that reduce the negative impact on the environment, in the area of deforestation and plastic waste management.

Education/Experience Requirements 

A successful candidate (Preferably Female) must possess a bachelor’s degree in Microbiology, Botany, Environmental Science, Agriculture, Urban Planning, or related areas and must have at least 2 years of experience in planning, managing, and implementing projects in line with environmental management.

• Excellent planning, organizational, and time management skills, able to work well under pressure both proactively and prioritize a challenging workload.
• Good communication skills: able to communicate complex concepts concisely to non-technical staff both in writing and verbally.
• Motivating and developing teams, including performance management and appraisals.
• Collaborative approach to partnership working in a cross-cultural context; a team player, with strong problem-solving ability.
• Excellent researching skills.
• Advanced knowledge in computer applications.
• She must have initiative and be able to work effectively under pressure independently and with a team.
• Innovative thinking skills.
• Observation and critical thinking skills.
• She should be good with Statistics.
