ABOUT US
International Non-governmental organization, Action Against Hunger has been working to fight undernutrition and support communities affected by crisis across the globe for almost 40 years and across nearly 50 countries. Action Against Hunger established its presence in both Liberia and Sierra Leone in 1991 during the Civil War and since then has been operational in the two countries by implementing various humanitarian and development programs related to health, nutrition, food security/livelihoods and advocacy geared towards the reduction of the prevalence rates of under-nutrition in both countries.





Since January 2018, the two countries have been clustered and now operating under a single management structure. The coordination office is based in Freetown, Sierra Leone overseeing the operations in Moyamba Field Office and Liberia Country Office.
Action Against Hunger is recruiting a suitably qualified Sierra Leonean as Head of Project to       Organize, Implement, Supervise, and monitor the project activities in the field.
KEY ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES :Organize, implement, supervise and monitor the project activities





Activities: Meet the local partners, keep them informed about the programme;
Sensitize the stakeholders at the chiefdom and community level on project activities;
Establish good communication with the communities and beneficiaries;
Mobilize/organize the beneficiaries;
Coordinate with the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry (MAF) field officers and link them with the beneficiaries;
Monitor, supervise, evaluate and follow-up the project activities;
Prepare reports of the activities and give to the line manager





Supervise the teamActivities: Manage & Organise your team (from 3 to 6 Agricultural Technicians);Develop plan of action for each team memberNeed to have a daily field presence in the project area;
Plan, organize and supervise the team’s field work;
Train, support and supervise the team;
Conduct periodic appraisals for each team member

Gender Action Activities:
To ensure that all data is sex and age disaggregated throughout the project cycle from assessment and implementation, to monitoring and evaluation.
All beneficiary feedback and complaint mechanisms are gender and age sensitive.
To ensure that different needs, capacities and vulnerabilities of women, men, girls and boys are understood and acted upon in all AAH supported communities.
Demonstrate experience and/or personal commitment to promoting gender equality within the AAH work  environment





Ensures that project activities are carried out with cultural sensitivity, promotes gender equality and inclusion of marginalised groups;
Works with field teams to ensure access and participation of women, men, girls and boys at risk to Action Against Hunger’s response, recovery and rehabilitation work
Conducts Gender leadership trainings for project staff, community leaders and target communities, beneficiaries;

Others:
Adherence to the Action Against Hunger Code of Conduct
Adhere to all COVID-19 precautionary measuresCarry out job related duties as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS BSC/Diploma in Agriculture or related fields Professional experience in equivalent position
Consuderable experience working in the NGO sector

REQUIRED SKILLSGood organizational capacity, Team management and planning of activities
Strong knowledge and experience of agricultural techniques (e.g. cassava and groundnut cultivation, Good Agricultural Practices)Capacities to plan, monitor and report on project activities at field level
Knowledge of community participation/empowerment approaches Basic computer knowledge
Good knowledge of the local languages and culture (Moyamba District)Possession of Motor-bike driving licence is advantageous
Previous employment in Action Against Hunger will be an added advantage





WORK CONDITIONS
STARTING DATE: March  2022
DURATION OF CONTRACT: One (1) Year Sierra Leonean contract (Renewable)
LOCATION: Moyamba, with frequent travels to Freetown, and other field areas

REMUNERATION:
Monthly Basic Salary: SLL3,567,200 to 4,096,960 based on profile
Monthly Transport Allowance: 15% of Monthly Basic Salary
Housing Allowance: 15% of Monthly Basic Salary
