1.) Laboratory Technicians
Location: Sierra Leone (seeking local candidates)
Key Responsibilities:
- Responsible to perform all laboratory procedures for the clinic including to receive, label and analyze samples (blood, toxic, tissue etc.)
- Design and execute laboratory testing according to standard procedures, make observations and interpret findings.
- Match requested lab orders with specimen labeling; sort specimens; check labeling; logging specimens; arrange reports for delivery; keeping work surfaces clean and orderly.
- Maintain quality results by running standards and controls, verifying equipment function through routine equipment maintenance and advanced trouble shooting.
- Set up Lab equipment and tools for testing, which includes calibrating equipment and instruments and testing them to make sure they are functioning properly following approved testing procedures, monitoring quality control measures and protocols.
- Toxicology - identify the presence or quantity of drugs of abuse, therapeutic drugs, and toxic substances by operating toxicology instrumentation and performing manual methods for the performance of drug screens, blood alcohol levels, and carbon monoxide levels.
- Chemistry - provide test results for patient diagnosis and treatment by operating chemistry equipment, performing hand chemistries.
- Hematology - provide test results for patient diagnosis and treatment by operating hematology, urinalysis, and coagulation equipment, performing manual methods of differentials.
- Immunology - provide test results for patient diagnosis and treatment by operating equipment such as the gamma counter, spectrophotometer, densitometer, and through methods such as radioimmunoassay, enzyme immunoassay, and serological testing.
- Microbiology - provide physician with information for treatment of patient infection by performing technical procedures for the identification or susceptibility of bacteria, parasites, fungi, and mycobacteria.
- Perform quality control tests with external labs as well as on-site when necessary.
- Prepare samples prior to shipping them to external Labs.
- Contribute to a safe and secure environment for patients, visitors, physicians and co-workers by following established standards and procedures, complying with clinical regulations.
- Responsible for maintaining the laboratory equipment and hardware, making sure it is properly cared for, requesting for maintenance and repairs, and replacing equipment when necessary.
- Maintain inventory levels and appropriately organize and label all supplies and equipment.
- Prepare and organize all data and findings, inputting all data in necessary files and systems and creating documents and presentations to communicate results with Physicians.
- Maintain equipment and assist in ordering laboratory supplies.
- Ensure that all safety guidelines are followed strictly at all times and maintain a clean and orderly environment.
- Ensure that highest standards of clinical governance in the provision of Laboratory service to both out/inpatient care are met.
- Maintain accurate, complete patient health care records, proper filing and documentation and ensure laboratory records and reports are securely kept and accurately updated in accordance with clinical guides.
- Operate within the context of the facility’s Mass Casualty Incident Plan in designated role, or in other roles as directed by the Project/Operations Manager.
- Available twenty-four (24) hours a day, seven (7) days a week, primarily but not exclusively for Laboratory Services.
The job duties are flexible and subject to change dependent upon operational needs.
Work Experience

Qualifications:
- Required Education- Diploma or degree in Laboratory Technology.
- IPC, Waste Management and other relevant certifications.
- Current unrestricted registration certificate as a Laboratory Technician within Home Country.
- At least 3 years of professional experience in laboratory practice.
- Demonstrate sufficient recent laboratory experience in the last 12 months.
- Experience working under hazardous conditions (e.g., pathogens or chemicals).
- Able to supervise staff, use own initiative and be proactive.
- Experience working in a multi-cultural environment.
- Honest and reliable: display high level of integrity since he/she may be in a position to take care of patient’s personal belongings.
- Fluency in English.

2.) Pediatrician - Consultant
Key Responsibilities:
Proving professional medical/healthcare services and general support service to AMI and carry out the following:
- Provide professional medical services as a Pediatrician at the AMI clinic in Sierra Leone. The consultant will provide general pediatric care including provision of Pediatric Resuscitative and Emergency Services which adhere to the facilities’ policies and procedures.
- In-patient and out- patient care of pediatric cases.
- Training on Basic and Advanced Life Support for pediatric cases.
- Preferably but not mandatory, the consultant will provide diagnostics in form of ultrasound (abdominal, cerebral, and soft tissue) and other procedures in line with AMI-SL protocols.
- Supporting the Project/Operations Manager positively as a willing contributor to working in a team environment.
- Assist with orientation for incoming personnel on pediatric protocols.
- Work in accordance with posted rostering and maintain approved training standards as required.
- Stay within restricted boundaries when responding to the on-call requirements.
- Train and work in a designated role within the facility’s trauma system, which is based on Advanced Trauma Life Support (ATLS).
- Ensure that highest standards of clinical governance in the provision of Pediatric/Medical Services is meet.
- Attend or present training and briefing sessions when and as required.
- Operate within the context of the facility’s Mass Casualty Incident Plan in designated role, or in other roles as directed by the Project/Operations Manager.
- The Physician must always comply with the Company’s and Client’s policies and procedures and Code of Conduct.
Work Experience

Qualifications:
- Required Education – Bachelor of Medicine / Bachelor of Surgery / Doctor of Medicine Degree. A fully qualified medical doctor (MB.BS, MBChB or MD) from a recognized university.
- Post graduate specialist qualifications in Pediatrics.
- Minimum of 5 years of continuous clinical experience in general medical practice with at least 3 years’ experience in specialization.
- Currently registered by a national medical board or council as a Physician/Pediatrician in home country.
- Active license and certification to practice medicine.
- Preferably has trainings or qualifications in PALS, ACLS, ALS and ATLS or equivalent certifications are desirable.
- Specializations: Pediatrics
- Relevant experience in occupational, tropical and travel medicine is desirable.
- Fluency in English.
