1.) National Expert for School Leadership

National Expert for School Leadership (Consultancy)

 

Building on the development of junior and senior secondary schools, the Ministry of Basic and Senior Secondary Education (MoBSSE)/Teaching Service Commission (TSC) through its Leh Wi Lan program, are looking to hire the services of a National Expert for School Leadership

Women are particularly encouraged to apply. 

Through the school leadership course, we will equip school leaders to be professional school leaders who are focused on learning outcomes and take a more inclusive approach to learning and management and have stronger school performance management, monitoring and reporting routines.

 

This role is funded by and contracted through FCDO’s Sierra Leone Secondary Education Improvement Programme 2.

 

Job description
Job title National Expert for School Leadership Programme (x 4 role)
Fee Negotiable (Consultancy role)
Time commitment 34 working days over 9 months (January – September) 2024
Location Within Sierra Leone with regular meeting with TSC and Mott MacDonald
Start date January 2024
Report to The role will be overseen by the Deputy Team Lead and the Teaching and Learning Technical Lead of Mott MacDonald
Example duties and responsibilities
  • Develop learning outcomes and content for two school leadership toolkits.
  • Review existing materials for school leadership programmes, map them to the content design assess their suitability and adapt and develop new materials to create study toolkits for school leaders.
  • Develop materials for Toolkit 1 Introduction to school leadership (workbook and video)
  • Design testing processes for the first toolkit
  • Collect and analyze data and report on lessons learnt.
  • Agree a final structure and mechanisms for the school leadership course.
  • Develop materials for toolkit 2 for the school leadership course.
  • Lead training for the 15 local leaders of learning

 

Candidate profile
Experience
  • Knowledge and experience of school leadership
  • Experience of developing and designing written and video study materials and guides
  • Training skills and experience
  • Knowledge and experience of coaching processes
  • M and E skills
  • Ability to collect, analyze data, report on findings and make recommendations.
  • Commitment to improving learning outcomes
  • Ability to build relationships and work as part of a team
Qualifications
  • An advanced degree in Education or Related fields

JOB OPPORTUNITY

National Expert for School-Based Continuous Professional Development (Consultancy)

Building on the development of junior and senior secondary schools, the Ministry of Basic and Senior Secondary Education (MoBSSE)/Teaching Service Commission (TSC) through its Leh Wi Lan program, are looking to hire the services of a National Expert for School-Based Continuous Professional Development 

.

To ensure implementation, SB-CPD must have value and credibility for everyone in the education system. The work of this intervention aims to build value and credibility by strengthening systems at national, district and school level.  Aligning SB-CPD structures and processes to the primary CPD framework, supporting MBSSE and TSC to set priorities, ensuring supporting policies are in place and developing the capacity of MBSSE and TSC to manage SB-CPD will support its implementation.

Example duties and responsibilities
  • Reviewing existing materials for CPD and adapting them
  • Developing guidelines and content for teacher learning circles (digital and print)
  • Guidelines for coaching and mentoring.
  • Review and development of school observation formats and processes
  • Using data to design the final model for School Based CPD

 

Candidate profile
Experience
  • Knowledge and experience of teaching and learning
  • Designing study modules for teacher learning circles
  • Writing and producing content   – workbooks and digital
  • Training skills and experience 
  • Knowledge of coaching and mentoring processes
  • Ability to build relationships and work as part of a team
  • Ability to analyze data, report on findings and make recommendations.
Qualifications
  • An advanced degree in Education or Related fields
