EXTERNAL JOB VACANCY 

Sierra Diamonds Limited is looking for a qualified candidate for the following position:

Position: Paramedic

Location: Tongo Field, Sierra Leone

Department: HSE

Reports to: Mine Risk Manager

Hours: 44 per week

Contract Type: Fixed Term 

Key deliverables: 

• Providing emergency and routine medical support and patient care services including primary, occupational medical care to ensure a healthy and “fit for purpose” workforce in support of SDL operations.

Key Duties Include: 

• Maintains a focused attitude through the spirit of cooperation, pleasant and respectful demeanor and helpfulness towards company patients and contractors.
• Plan, initiate and control medical emergency preparedness (ambulance and clinics), and response services 24/7 whilst on active duty,
• Arranging and coordinating medical evacuations in accordance with Company medical insurance guidelines and continually updating management accordingly,
• Occupational health surveillance and screening processes and administration (entry/ annual/ exit), • Plan and manage primary health care and preventative medicine services,
• Conduct weekly health and hygiene inspections of the camp area ablution facilities, kitchens, and workplaces followed up by inspection reports and actions plans to remediate and maintain standards,
• Update, trend and report medical statistics on a weekly basis to the HOD,

Skills and Qualifications required: 

• Adheres to the policy, procedures and protocols related to advanced life support guidelines that is in accordance with  the HPCSA schedules.
• Demonstrated competency in advanced airway management inclusive of intubation, mechanical ventilation, ECG  monitoring/ defibrillation, cardiac pacing/ cardio inversion, administration of scheduled medication, setting up and  monitoring of continuous intravenous infusions (IVAC machine attachments)
• Professional etiquette, presentable with an excellent “bedside manner” at all times.
• Experience in remote site pharmacology, and medication administration and dispensing
