ABOUT US
International Non-governmental organization, Action Against Hunger has been working to fight undernutrition and support communities affected by crisis across the globe for almost 40 years and across nearly 50 countries. Action Against Hunger established its presence in both Liberia and Sierra Leone in 1991 during the Civil War and since then has been operational in the two countries by implementing various humanitarian and development programs related to health, nutrition, food security/livelihoods and advocacy geared towards the reduction of the prevalence rates of under-nutrition in both countries. Since January 2018, the two countries have been clustered and now operating under a single management structure. The coordination office is based in Freetown, Sierra Leone overseeing the operations in Moyamba Field Office and Liberia Country Office.
Action Against Hunger is recruiting a suitably qualified Sierra Leonean as Program Manager –Climate Change Adaptation and Mitigation, to be in charge of the overall implementation of the project in Moyamba District, being consistent with standards set by Action Against Hunger and national policies, working in partnership with SLARI





KEY ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
– Lead the implementation of the project activities related to climate change adaptation and mitigation in the target communities
– Manage the project staff, beneficiaries and capacity development
– Participate in the coordination, representation and partnerships of Action Against Hunger in his/her area of intervention
– Contributing to capitalization and technical development in his/her project and sector
– Contribute to definition of strategy, needs identification and the positioning of the FSL Department

QUALIFICATIONS
– At least a Bachelor’s degree in Soil Science/Agronomy/Agriculture General/Climate Science/Rural Development
– Five years of experience in managing agricultural projects and or climate change projects
– Experience working with international NGO’s and on rural development is advantageous.





Required Competencies and Skills:
– Professional experience in agricultural research projects – conducting on-farm trials, experimental data collection, analysis & reporting
– Good team management skills
– Good capacity for multi-partners coordination
– Good relational qualities and diplomacy
– Good communication and representation skills
– Organizational qualities
– Good knowledge of English (read, written, spoken)
– Computer literate in Word, Excel and Outlook and Microsoft office package
– Experience in management of EU grants an asset

WORK CONDITIONS
STARTING DATE: As soon as possible
DURATION OF CONTRACT: 12 months Sierra Leonean contract
LOCATION: Moyamba, with possible visits to other project areas





REMUNERATION:
Monthly Basic Salary : between SLL 6,772,000 and 7,381,000 according to profile
