Job Vacancy at BBC Media Action – Programme Officer-Primed
BBC Media Action is the international development agency of the BBC, using media and communications to improve people’s lives. BBC Media Action in Sierra Leone is currently seeking applications for Programme Officer role.
BBC Media Action has a number of current and planned projects addressing a range of themes including media freedoms through our ongoing project PRIMED. This is a FCDO funded project, for which BBC Media Action is the Global Prime. The project aims to support the capacity strengthening of media outlets and support local Governments, its media regulator and professional bodies develop regulation and legislation which is supportive of free and independent public interest journalism.
The Programme Officer will provide routine administrative and logistical support to the PRIMED project. He/she will be required to develop good working relationships with project partners such as the local radio partners, other media stakeholders, government bodies and INGOs. The Programme Officer will be based in Freetown, with occasional travel up-country, and line-managed by a Programme Manager. The Programme Officer will work closely with colleagues in the Production, Research, Finance and HR & Operations teams, as required.

The role may involve working with vulnerable children and adults. For the successful candidate, mandatory training will be provided on BBC Media Action’s safeguarding policy and staff code of conduct.
