Position:  Manager, Social Performance Management 

Duty Station: Country Office (with occasional visits to provincial field offices)





Purpose:

To manage the implementation of Social Performance Management (SPM), the use of the SPI4 tool and action plans to close SPM and Client Protection gaps. Work with MF leadership and other departments (HR, Finance, Audit, IT etc.) to draft and update policies in line with client protection and social mission. Train and orient MF staff regularly to ensure proper implementation of these policies. Use Responsible Inclusive Finance (RIF) tools such as CERISE SPI4 to regularly report on social performance practices.

Major Responsibility

    • Conduct the SPI4 assessments quarterly
    • Conduct regular orientation and training for MF staff to build internal capacity to implement USSPM at all levels of the operation, the Client Protection Principles (CPP)
    • Prepare detailed SPM work plan to improve compliance to USSPM  and work will all departments to achieve those goals.
    • Improve practices to achieve compliance targets
    • Ensure all levels of staff understand the correct practices dealing with clients and are always adhering to client protection principals
    • Regularly visit field staff and identify gaps in practice at branch level and help close such gaps
    • Help prepare regular progress reports.
    • Manage social outreach and outcome data and reporting – poverty and rural outreach and social outcomes.
    • Plan and roll out initiatives such as financial literacy to clients
    • Develop training materials related to SPM, CP, Financial Literacy, Client Orientations etc.




  • Plan training throughout the year and train staff and clients on relevant topics
  • Conduct periodic client and staff surveys to identify challenges and solutions they are facing
  • Ensure all new projects and products are strategically aligned with BI MF strategic priority areas, are client-centric and adheres to relevant USSPM standards (Design products, services and delivery channels that meet clients ‘needs and preferences)
  • Regularly prepare and present reports on SPM and Impact outcomes to higher management and board
  • Ensure lessons are documented and shared on new projects related to SPM (e.g. financial literacy)
  • Ensure the safety of team members from any harm, abuse, neglect, harassment and exploitation to achieve the programme’s goals on safeguarding implementation. Act as a key source of support, guidance and expertise on safeguarding for establishing a safe working environment.
  • Practice, promote and endorse the issues of safeguarding policy among team members and ensure the implementation of safeguarding standards in every course of action.
  • Follow the safeguarding reporting procedure in case any reportable incident takes place, encourage others to do so.





KPIs

  • SPI4 quarterly updates and action plan – gaps identified and closed.
  • Train all staff regularly on key SPM issues
  • Successfully roll out financial literacy programme for all clients
  • On-time work completion Percentage: Whether or not an assignment or task is completed by a given deadline.

Knowledge, Skills & Competencies

  • Client-centric product development that is sustainable.
  • Client’s retention and satisfaction.
  • Coordination between field staff to HO.
  • Coordinating partnerships for program/project implementation.
  • Conduct refreshers training regularly for all staff
  • Extensive travel all over the country
  • Working with vendors to deliver outcomes at the right time
  • Engaging all the right stakeholders in the most effective, efficient manner (knowing who to involve, when and how).
  • Outstanding communication, presentation and writing skills in English
  • Must be a hard worker and be willing to travel more than 50% of the time
  • Experience to train people and applying best practices (in academic research, strategy or practical application)
  • Experience implementing qualitative and quantitative research end to end.
  • Experience working with a team from diverse cultures is preferred Ensure





Educational Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in  Business or Development Studies

Experience (Including sector/industry):

  • 2+ years’ experience in: microfinance, product development, operational management, training, consultancy, monitoring and evaluation, or project management.
  • Experience in Microfinance operations is preferable.
